Although the cottage is off the beaten track it is a very warm, welcoming, well appointed accommodation. The remodeling by Jim and Sherry is extremely well done. The comments from the ladies with us continually used the word "lovely" to describe the cottage. Jim also when beyond the call of duty to help through a situation totally apart from anything to do with the cottage. We highly recommend it.

A Hidden Gem in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

Our visit to the Cottage at Springwood was a most pleasant and enjoyable surprise. Our hosts were so gracious and welcoming. The house is very comfortable and spacious with all of the conveniences of home and then some. The decor is charming and in keeping with the period of the house yet updated to a more contemporary time. The setting is beautiful. Sunday morning we climbed up the hill/mountain behind the house and were able to enjoy nature at its best in the Virginia mountains. We hope to return to this lovely and serene vacation home.

Country Setting

  • 3 of 5

We came into town for one overnight to explore Natural Bridge, Va. Jim was very accommodating, allowing us to check in a bit early. The house is a bit off the beaten path and there is a rough gravel road getting to the house (a little over a mile once the regular road ends.) The parking area is across from the house (which is fine) but we were expecting a different layout from the photos on line.

We LOVED the charm and quaintness of this home! It is beautifully decorated and had a very relaxing atmosphere. We are giving it a three stars only for the cleanliness of the kitchen/dining area and the back porch area. The was a lot of dust on the beams and ceiling fan in the kitchen....it looks like it wasn't dusted for a while. I could have dealt with that in other areas of the home....but not the kitchen. The furniture on the back porch is older and very rustic - wasn't comfortable sitting on it without getting paint chips or stains on our clothes. The back area was overgrown. We walked along the side of the house where the creek is...but it is not a very large area...and looked so different in the on line pictures.

Overall, the house itself is lovely. The exterior could use some loving care, as well as a bit of cleaning in the kitchen area. The charm of this older home can not be overstated.

The cottage at Spriingwood is a delightful place.

  • 5 of 5

We were really impressed with "The Cottage at Spriingwood" it's a wonderful getaway in the country and foothills of blue ridge mtn's of Va. The owners have done a great job of converting a house built in the early 1900's to a modern facility with all the updates. We enjoyed our time there and hope to go back again. Joe & Ann Steed

Beautiful Property, Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I were more than happy with our stay at The Cottage At Springwood! The house was beautiful, comfortable, and had anything and everything we needed to help us have a great time time together. The Crumleys are very helpful, always available, and always friendly, and made this an overall amazing experience. We would LOVE to stay again if we find ourselves in need of a place in the area! Highly recommend the Cottage at Springwood!
