We came into town for one overnight to explore Natural Bridge, Va. Jim was very accommodating, allowing us to check in a bit early. The house is a bit off the beaten path and there is a rough gravel road getting to the house (a little over a mile once the regular road ends.) The parking area is across from the house (which is fine) but we were expecting a different layout from the photos on line.
We LOVED the charm and quaintness of this home! It is beautifully decorated and had a very relaxing atmosphere. We are giving it a three stars only for the cleanliness of the kitchen/dining area and the back porch area. The was a lot of dust on the beams and ceiling fan in the kitchen....it looks like it wasn't dusted for a while. I could have dealt with that in other areas of the home....but not the kitchen. The furniture on the back porch is older and very rustic - wasn't comfortable sitting on it without getting paint chips or stains on our clothes. The back area was overgrown. We walked along the side of the house where the creek is...but it is not a very large area...and looked so different in the on line pictures.
Overall, the house itself is lovely. The exterior could use some loving care, as well as a bit of cleaning in the kitchen area. The charm of this older home can not be overstated.
We were really impressed with "The Cottage at Spriingwood" it's a wonderful getaway in the country and foothills of blue ridge mtn's of Va. The owners have done a great job of converting a house built in the early 1900's to a modern facility with all the updates. We enjoyed our time there and hope to go back again. Joe & Ann Steed
My friends and I were more than happy with our stay at The Cottage At Springwood! The house was beautiful, comfortable, and had anything and everything we needed to help us have a great time time together. The Crumleys are very helpful, always available, and always friendly, and made this an overall amazing experience. We would LOVE to stay again if we find ourselves in need of a place in the area! Highly recommend the Cottage at Springwood!
We took some girls for a short overnight weekend. Our first impression of the home was it's instant charm. We had 8 people in the home, and everyone had plenty of room! The bedrooms and bathrooms were absolutely perfect, and the kitchen was wonderful. There is a great seating area upstairs where we were all able to sit and visit with each other! We will definitely try to make it back here!!! And if you're a porch sitter, the porches are fantastic :)
We really enjoyed our time in this beautiful home. It is very quiet and pleasant, and the home easily accommodated 7 adults and 2 children - plus a big family gathering one afternoon. The kitchen is well equipped, and the bedrooms are quiet, and having 4 bathrooms is such a luxury. Add in an easy to work with owner, and we will definitely stay here again!
the crumbleys were very helpful and on point with the entire rental process. i really appreciated their flexibility with letting us bring our four fully house trained family dogs, which can definitely be a liability from a renter's perspective, and even though their listing noted "pets not preferred". two days before check-in date, i received a text in anticipation of our arrival. on the day of, we did not arrive until 9-10pm and as the house is in the middle of the woods and our GPS failed to work, we had to call in for directions, but they were very helpful and understanding about calling after hours. the house itself was great and very clean, spacious and very nicely decorated and furnished. the kitchen was fully stocked, the wifi service great, cable with a lot of channel listings. our in-laws and our four furry babies had a great, relaxing memorial weekend surrounded by nature and clean air.
Very rural outdoor activities are the rule, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, tubing, fishing, wineries, Blue Ridge Parkway.
WiFi: In house, wireless internet.
Pets are not preferred, however each situation will be handled separately. No smoking inside the cottage.
