About the property

Two Bedroom Home With Third Separate Apartment Located On Beautiful Beach

Our home is located just 75' from the beach in a private cove on Long Island, Bahamas. It has two bedrooms, the master has a queen size bed with french doors looking over the beautiful blue lagoon, the second bedroom has twin beds looking over the gardens. The fully equipped kitchen, living room, and dining area all open to picturesque view of the Caribbean. French doors from the living room open to large 1000 sq ft deck.

Also available on the property is a 600 sq ft apartment that sits above the garage, it has a queen size bed, private bath and kitchenette. The property is beautifully landscaped, as it is was our profession and now our hobby!

We have two bikes and a windsurfer for your use.

About Sue Maring

Our names are Mike and Sue Maring. We own and operate a winery/vineyard in Lowville, New York. Our only free time is in the winter months, hence deciding to own property in the Bahamas. We still like to travel to other places with our grown daughters Crystal and Marissa, so we do offer our home as an exchange also.

Why Sue Maring chose Long Island

We love Long Island because it has beautiful white sand beaches with no one on them! The water is absolutely the most crystal clear and gorgeous color of anywhere in the world! It spoils us to swim anywhere else! We love the fact there are no tourists here, just mostly people from Canada or the states that own winter homes. The local people are very friendly, but you don't have peddlers bothering you. They don't exist on this Island. It's just a very laid back and relaxed atmosphere.

What makes this house unique

There are no high rise condos, no casinos, no traffic lights, just unspoiled beauty.

Zero Pressure

From the moment I walked in to the house I felt my blood pressure drop, and my mind flashed on Robinson Crusoe. I immediately turned to my wife and told her we made a mistake, we should have booked longer.. much longer...which we did for next year before we even left. I think that pretty much says about everything. Our days started with a cup of joe on the deck overlooking beautiful Lochabar Bay, a little breakfast and then off to explore a new beach everyday. Private beaches and sun kissed days... it doesn't get any better than that. Very nice house in a very private setting.

Favorite Place

Upon arrival we were immediately relaxed at the casual feel of the house and the magnificent view from the deck, of the beautiful turquoise water. We had all the amenities we needed, plus a warm outdoor shower which was a pleasant surprise. Ernest was very kind and called to make sure we were enjoying our stay at the house. Being only a stone's throw from the the waters edge gave us the opportunity to swim everyday, take walks on nearby Lochabar Beach and kayak across the bay over to the barrier islands. We did enjoy exploring other parts of Long Island, taking a tour of Hamilton's Cave with Leonard Cartwright and going fishing with Locksley to catch our dinner, however most of our time was spent at the house, as we found that it was our favorite place to be.

Perfect Vacation

We had a wonderful time staying at the Maring's Beach House which accommodated 2 adult couples perfectly. The house is beautifully and privately located overlooking the incredible Bahama blue water. The house was clean, comfortable and well furnished. It is a great location for beach walking, swimming, kayaking and exploring the island. Many thanks to the Marings for sharing their home. Beautiful private property. Stunning beaches. Very clean. Easy access to Clarence Town for food and restaurants. Great access to beaches on both coasts. Highly recommended if you want to wind down in some peace and quiet.

Great Value and Best location on the island.

We just returned from a great Thanksgiving week vacation and already planning to return soon. The house was great and the location is one of the best on the island. After driving from one end of the island to the other and everywhere in between, we couldn't be happier with our choice of where to stay. There is nothing fancy about the house but thats what gives it the true island vibe that we were looking for. Great views, comfortable breezes, and the sounds of the waves on the rocks. The layout was great as well and with the daybeds in the living room, you can lounge around and even use them for extra bunks if needed. The wood beamed tent ceilings and some local artwork were nice touches on the interior. The property manager Ernest was a great host and gave us some good local knowledge as well. We have travelled to almost every island in the Bahamas and they all have a different feel. This was our second trip to Long Island and it definitely ranks high on the list. If you want to get away from the tourists and the crowds, this is the place. It is a relatively undiscovered gem with some of the nicest resident islanders you are going to meet.

Wonderful and quiet waterfront location

House is situated a stone's throw from the water on a protected bay with white sand beaches all to yourself. There were three in our group and the household amenities could have supported twice our number.

Clarence Town is a tiny little village in a remote but relatively accessible part of the Bahamas. If you are looking for a beautiful and quiet place with clear water and little development, this is your spot.

The property manager was available to help us with questions regarding any aspect of our stay on the island.

The absence of air conditioning was only an issue on still nights when the no-see-ums would get thru the screens. We understand that air conditioning will be installed. As long as there is a breeze, which is most of the time, it is very comfortable with overhead fans and open windows.

We would give five stars next time once there is a remedy for the no-see-ums
