This house is owned by my Grandmother Christine, but managed by me, her granddaughter. Granny was born and bred in Barbados and has a special love for collecting unique and special property throughout the isalnd. This property is one of her favorites and we are so happy to share it with you.
The house has been owned and operated by our family for over 50 years. My grandmother has overseen countless renovations and updates and it is a property very close to our heart. It is a beautiful family home on an exquisite, private beach with the most beautiful blue water and white sand. Stay with us and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
We loved our stay in your house. We liked the fact that it was a whole
house with privacy and that it was very clean and comfortable. We loved
the fact that the kitchen was fully functional and that you had BBQ grill.
We liked the location and having the beach behind it. It was perfect for
snorkeling. The washing machine and dryer worked fine and so did the internet connection.
Thank you for all of the above.
Nice quiet neighborhood, Ideal for a small family, or two couples, beautiful sunsets every evening. Would most definitely go back. Had no issues what so ever.
Lovely stay at Ocean Hollow... Close to beaches, groceries and a short 23 minute drive to Bridgetown... Awesome to wake up every morning and have a cup of coffee on the veranda listening to the ocean waves.. With a surprise visit from a family of monkeys. The sunsets were spectacular...❤️❤️
We had a fantastic stay from Feb 10-21, at Ocean Hollow. A beautiful home with plenty of room for 2 couples or family of 4.
Bedrooms are large and well appointed. Kitchen is quite functional and well equipped. We hosted a dinner for 8 with no problems and plenty of room for everyone.
Property is tucked away well off the Main Street and has plenty of parking. The back yard is priceless with a beautiful patio, furniture for 8 and of course the Caribbean Sea lapping at the back step.
We did quite a bit of cooking ourselves, however there are plenty of resteraunts near by. Groceries are also nearby at the Massey and Jordan’s supermarkets.
Over all it was a great stay. We would highly recommend renting a car so you can explore the entire island.
Thank you Chloe for sharing your grandma’s beautiful home with us.
We enjoyed the easy access to the beach and the house's proximity to Holetown beach bars and restaurants. The place is nicely cared for and well priced.
The property had a beautiful view and was in a great location to venture out around the island which we did every day with our car rental. We are a family of 4- Mom and Dad, 17 year old son and 4 year old daughter. Chloe went out of her way to make our Christmastime visit especially sweet for our 4 year old including having a small table-sized Christmas tree up and decorated for Santa to visit. The beds were extremely comfortable and the house had all the basic necessities. Negatives of the property is that it's basically a split level in part so you have to use steps into the master bathroom which were a little scary for me and our little girl. This was also true to enter the den/dining/kitchen area and again to go onto the porch, again to get to the yard and again to step onto the beach. This was a negative for me as I am physically handicapped and I apparently missed this information when I reviewed the property. The steps are also concerning for small kids especially the bathroom. We were also startled early Christmas morning by some man violently beating on the front door repeatedly until we answered him and he stated he was collecting money for "old people". We've traveled all over the world and that was a first. We were securely locked in behind the metal gates on the front and back door and the windows but it was still alarming. I understand this is beyond the owners control but with the house set back off the main road it was rather odd. The mosquitoes here are significant so the idea of opening the front and backdoors for a breezeway were just not an option. Overall rating of Barbados for us was a B-. We loved the daily adventures and the views were beautiful. We enjoyed Bathsheba, The Animal Flower Bay (including the restaurant), the Flower Forest, Earthworks, Carlisle Bay, Mullins Beach, Sandy Lane, Speightstown, Holetown, etc. The food was extremely expensive even compared to Hawaii and the South Pacific and it was difficult to get reservations to a lot of restaurants because of the holidays although we travel every holiday. We don't revisit islands so we are thankful we were able to visit Barbados and overall it was an enjoyable experience for our family. Thank you Chloe!
The biggest drawback to this place is that it has no screens in the windows/doors. There is a nice cross breeze if you leave the front door and back door open, but then all the mosquitoes get in. The only air conditioning is in the bedroom so shutting the windows/doors is not really feasible so we had to wear insect repellent inside all the time. No paper towels or dish washing liquid was provided, so you will need to pick those up at the store. There are no left over items from previous renters such as salt, sugar, etc. that you sometimes encounter in villas, so you will need to purchase everything. Kitchen items were adequate—glasses/dishes nice but some of the pots were a bit tired. Bedrooms/living room/dining room were fine. The back porch is nice and furnished with a dining area and a seating area. It has an outdoor shower outside near the sandy area. You can go through the gate and there is a tiny strip of beach, at least at low tide, then the ocean. At high tide the waves actually lap the wall. There is a public access path adjacent to the house, so there is a bit of foot traffic out back. To lock the front door, there are 2 locks on the door and 2 padlocks to lock the iron gate in front of the door which makes it a pain if you forget something in the house and have to go back in. There is a lock on the sliding door at the back and 2 padlocks on the iron gates on the back. In addition, there are a dangerous few steps in one of the bathrooms that were a concern.
The contact person, Chloe was extraordinarily helpful and responsive. All of our questions were answered with remarkable speed and charm.
We had a great time at Ocean Hollow and swimming at the Open Water Festival, but we would not rent this villa again, mainly because of the no screens issue.
