About Keith and Paula Henson

After growing up in the Spartanburg/Greenville area of SC, we married and moved to Knoxville, TN in the 70s. Keith began his career as an electrical engineer with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and I as an elementary school teacher in the Knox County School System. We raised our three children (who are all University of Tennessee graduates) in Knoxville and are now enjoying our new role as grandparents!

Keith and Paula Henson purchased this chalet in 2013

Why Keith and Paula Henson chose Gatlinburg

We have lived in the shadows of the beautiful Smoky Mountains in Knoxville for many years but only recently decided to make Gatlinburg our “home away from home” and purchased this lovely chalet near the summit of Ski Mountain. We discovered that Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park have so much to offer our family. If it was peace and quiet surrounded by the beauty and wildlife of the park, hiking the many beautiful trails in the park, the excitement of shopping and sightseeing in the unique little town of Gatlinburg, or perhaps the thrill of the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park we were looking for we found it here. Gatlinburg has much to offer everyone in our family!

What makes this chalet unique

We quickly decided that the Chalet Village community on Ski Mountain was the place for us with its unique Bavarian flair and quaint chalets scattered across the mountainside! Of even greater importance was the close proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Our front door is located less than twenty steps from the park boundary and is within walking distance to one of the many beautiful trails open to visitors of the park. We immediately fell in love with the beautiful views from both the upper and lower covered porches of the chalet especially when the Ober Gatlinburg tram passed by with screams of excitement as passengers topped the highest tower! In the other direction through the park forest we can view the three distinct towering peaks of Mt. LeConte! We truly have a panoramic view! We enjoy the abundance of wildlife that is literally in our backyard and often delight in seeing mother bear and cubs passing through on their daily rounds to and from the park. There was never a doubt in our minds that this was the perfect getaway location! We also take pride in knowing that our guests receive the ultimate in hospitality! We personally prepare for our guests' arrival and add all of the personal touches to make it a special experience and one that will provide lasting memories!

Absolutely loved this place. Perfect getaway for a couple. Beautifully decorated. Paula was very helpful with any questions that I had. She is a great host, leaving special gifts for the special occasion. Helpful notes throughout the chalet. High on top of the mountain for an amazing view. Quiet and peaceful. Would recommend this place to any couple! Will definitely stay here again!

Perfection! Stay here and be amazed!

  • 5 of 5

Let me first say that my husband and I visit the area often and have rented many different cabins, chalets and condos. This chalet was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. What makes it so special are all the extras that Paula goes out if her way to provide. She had thought of everything! Lots of towels, including some oversized beach towels for the hot tub, plenty of toilet paper, Kleenex, paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent...so many things that you don't find in other rentals. To make it more special, there were muffins, a bottle of wine, some frosty mugs, chocolates on our pillows....I could go on and on! She and Keith even left a sweet card and gift for our 20th anniversary. ❤️

The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots and pans to prepare food at the chalet.

There are two large TVs with Netflix and a collection of dvds.

It has two decks that are nice to enjoy the view from. We loved watching the tram go by! Don't miss riding the tram while you are there too! Amazing views!

The king sized bed was super comfy and the linens were nice. The large tub in the bathroom was also a great place to relax.

We were fortunate enough to get to meet Paula, as they were working on the chalet next door. She is just as sweet and lovely in person as she was in the texts and emails.

We know the area very well, but if we hadn't, they have provided lots of info on what to see and do. They were also available for any questions you might have.

I would highly recommend this rental! Also, I would recommend riding the tram, visiting Cades Cove and eating at the Peddler. We also had pizza delivered from a nearby store and it was great!

Go ahead and book it! You won't be disappointed!!

Paula and Keith have done a absolutely fantastic job with this Chalet! We celebrated our 1 year anniversary at their place and they have really outdone themselves! It's such a perfect place, high in the mountains, right next to downtown Gatlinburg and the national forest! We will definitely be coming back! Thank you, Paula and Keith for all of the accommodations - we had the best 1 year anniversary getaway!! I would highly recommend staying here! :)

Absolutely gorgeous chalet with 5 star plus hospitality and amenities!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many cabins in the Great Smoky Mountains over the course of 40 years and this is by far the BEST experience we have ever encountered. The owners are amazing and account for every little detail. They go above and beyond to make your entire stay exceptional! The chalet being directly across the driveway from the beginning of the GSM is sheer perfection. The cleanliness and amenities are exceptional as well! We will certainly stay here again and refer this chalet to anyone we know who is planning a trip here. No one will be disappointed for choosing to stay here!

We stayed at the home for 8 days and we sorry to leave. It was in a perfect location to visit the park and the town. The drive to the home is a little scary but we were an expert within a day. The home had everything you need to enjoy the week. The owners were in constant communication to ensure or stay went well. We will definitely be back to this little gem in the mountaibs
