About Keith and Paula Henson

After growing up in the Spartanburg/Greenville area of SC, I married my high school sweetheart and moved to Tennessee. My husband began his career as an electrical engineer and I as an elementary school teacher. We raised our three children (who are all University of Tennessee graduates) and are now enjoying our new role as grandparents! As a retired 1st grade teacher, I was missing the contact I once had with so many wonderful families who touched my life over the years. Our rental chalets have become my new "classroom" and have not only provided me with a new creative outlet, but also with the opportunity to "cross paths" with so many wonderful guests from all over the country and beyond!

Keith and Paula Henson purchased this chalet in 2013

Why Keith and Paula Henson chose Chalet Village

We have lived in the shadows of the beautiful Smoky Mountains for many years but only recently decided to make Gatlinburg our “home away from home” and purchased two lovely chalets near the summit of Ski Mountain. We discovered that Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park have so much to offer our family. If it was peace and quiet surrounded by the beauty and wildlife of the park, hiking the many beautiful trails in the park, the excitement of shopping and sightseeing in the unique little town of Gatlinburg, or perhaps the thrill of the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park we were looking for we found it here. Gatlinburg has much to offer everyone in our family!

What makes this chalet unique

We quickly decided that the Chalet Village community on Ski Mountain was the place for us with its unique Bavarian flair and quaint chalets scattered across the mountainside! Of even greater importance was the close proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Our front door is located less than twenty steps from the park boundary and is within walking distance to one of the many beautiful trails open to visitors of the park. We immediately fell in love with the beautiful views especially when the Ober Gatlinburg tram passed by with screams of excitement as passengers topped the highest tower! In the other direction through the national park forest we can view the three distinct towering peaks of Mt. LeConte! We truly have a panoramic view! We enjoy the abundance of wildlife that is literally in our backyard and often delight in seeing mother bear and cubs passing through on their daily rounds to and from the park. There was never a doubt in our minds that this was the perfect getaway location! We also take pride in knowing that our guests receive the ultimate in hospitality! We personally prepare for our guests' arrival and add all of the personal touches to make it a special experience and one that will provide lasting memories!

This is hands down the nicest, cleanest, most well taken care of property.

The owners have thought of everything. The chalet was immaculate, up to date, and so cozy. By far, the nicest place I have ever stayed in. Very impressed. Would recommend to anyone. And I will!

Beautiful and nice!

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this chalet! The owners do a great job at making you feel welcome and really think of everything you might need for your stay. The view is awesome and the hot tub is wonderful. It is a bit steep up the mountain to the chalet but so well worth it. Amazing property!

Look No Further!!

  • 5 of 5

By far this is the best vacation rental we have ever booked. The chalet is absolutely beautiful, comfy and well equipped. How nice to walk into a home to find special treats for the guests. And trust us, Keith and Paula will insure that everything is perfect. They went above and beyond to correct what was to us a minor issue. We came to hike and the chalet is so conveniently located close to the park. Lots of information for local attractions and restaurants in the area was provided in advance. The best was soothing our aches in the hot tub after a day of hiking, then taking in the lovely view from the deck. Highly recommend!

Great place to relax!

  • 5 of 5

The chalet really enhanced our trip to the Smoky Mountains. After hiking and exploring all day, it was wonderful to come back to relax in the hot tub and play a game of pool. The chalet was fun to find up the winding roads and once we arrived we loved looking out from both decks.

A great place to relax

  • 5 of 5

This was our 3rd visit to the Smokies, and it was wonderful. The chalet is very clean and very private. Though there are chalets on both sides, it's still very secluded. Paula and Keith add special touches, including available snacks, wine, and chocolates. It was nice to not have to bring such items like tissues, paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent, seasonings, and other things we would normally have to provide. The chalet is spacious, and it was nice to have a big bedroom. During the week Paula made sure (via texts) that we had everything that we needed. As they mention, the chalet is very close to the park, so we did encounter bears eating from trash cans in the neighborhood. But the proximity to the park also made traveling to the different hikes a little easier. With the road down the mountain coming out on traffic stop #10, we could take the Gatlinburg bypass through the park when heading to Pigeon Forge and completely miss out on heavy Parkway traffic in Gatlinburg. We will stay here again!
