About the property

2-3 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, sleeps 8-12

The Wild Winds is a winter wonderland! Snowmobile trails start at the top of our driveway (we have room to park snowmobile trailers). Cross-country ski on our private trails, or visit groomed county trails only a couple of miles away. Ski downhill courses such as Treetops or Boyne Mountain, each only about half an hour away. Or simply enjoy the pristine beauty of our acres of pine forest in their winter frosting!

We allow well-behaved dogs for a small fee, and also charge a $60 cleaning fee. There is wi-fi available.

This log home, "Junior" cabin, has 2 bedrooms (plus fold-out queen) sleeps 6-8, and it has a fireplace! When it's not too cold, the back bedroom with two full beds is also available.

Or consider our other vacation rental at the Wild Winds: ""Honeymoon Cabin," has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 8-9 people. (see homeaway #298533).

The log homes are right on Wequas Lake, and our beautiful private lake is just a short walk into the woods.

Both homes come equipped with satellite TV, washer, dryer, full kitchen and 1 bath. The price is the same for either log home: the basic rate is $620/wk or $120/night, and prime dates are $750/wk or $145/night.

Rustic, had all the amenities we needed.

For the price and space it had, we will go back again! We had 6 people, didn't have to use the back bedroom. Had enough hot water, used the fireplace, & snowmobile trail was easy to get to. Rokko was great!

Loved the property but the house had extra unwanted guests.

The property is beautiful and the house could have been accommodating though I think the beds need new mattresses and the living room needed more comfortable with furniture that wasn't worn out. But the biggest horror was that there were squirrels living in the attic and either those squirrels or mice (or both) were making there way into the house during the day while we were gone. I told the owner after the first night about the animals in the attic and then later about the animals getting by in during the day. His response was mildly apologetic and the excuse that that is what happens when a house is in the woods with leaving a couple mousetraps in the kitchen. After re-reading reviews from back in September where guests stated squirrels had gotten in and the owner blamed the guests for leaving the door open, I should have been warned.

Relaxing Summer Outdoor Experience

  • 5 of 5

First let me say that Rokko was amazing! The property is a short distance to town with the best place to eat (Bennethum's). The cabin & property is rustic. The cabin was nice, beds were neat & clean, and it was cozy. Pets are allowed, which we brought our 3 German Shepherds with kennels and they played in the wooded trails and the lake. You have neighbors but they dont bother you. The canoes are shared but there was enough to go around. Fishing: caught a 24in Northern Pike and some young catfish. We seen beaver, mink, loons, etc. If you want a nice, affordable cabin to be out in the wilderness but still a 10 minute drive to town, this is it. Rokko is more than accommodating and I will come back again soon! If you like nature, fishing, and the outdoors and not looking for a 5 star resort, this is your option. Bring the family & kids, they will enjoy what nature has to offer.

We enjoyed the great views of the lake and the animals. Good size with three bedrooms and open layout. Enjoyed the close access to state land for the trails and nature would definitely suggest this property to others.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed this "beautiful spot in nature." Yes, we have several trails here on our 60 acres, and miles of trails (including snowmobile trails) on the adjacent state land. Come back soon!
