Stan Allison purchased this house in 2012
The purchase of this property allowed for a building site that could capture the beauty of Lake Michigan as well as embracing the surrounding woods. Access to White Lake is very close and provides many options for water fun including fishing, kayaking, boating and just sitting on the Pier watching the boat traffic glide through the White Lake Channel. We look forward to sharing our home with those guests that visit us during the summer season.
First and foremost is Lake Michigan. Additionally, there is near by access to White Lake and the White Lake Channel Pier. The Old Channel Pier House is an outstanding example of what west Michigan has to offer as a summer vacation destination. Pure Michigan at its best!
We've just returned from a week at the Pier House and it was perfect for our extended family. The main floor was a great space to cook, eat, play games and hang out. The game room and the basement were perfect for the kids to play and watch movies. With only a short set of stairs up to the master bedroom, my grandmother had a quiet place to go and watch TV. The beach was beautiful and the waves were amazing. The location was ideal with a short walk to the pier or a long walk down the beach. We had lots of fun with the kayaks and paddle boards. The house included everything we needed and more including a slow cooker and popcorn maker. Thank you Stan and Linda for a wonderful week! Go Green!
If you are looking for the ideal Lake Michigan beach rental property, you can stop looking, because here it is. We've just returned from our fabulous week at the Pier House (for the third year) and it was awesome. Everything was exactly as described and more. Stan and Linda have taken care of every possible detail and have spared no expense to provide a fun and comfortable stay. They are always available to quickly answer questions or address concerns. The house is beautiful, clean, and full of amenities. The kids loved the game room and the "Man Cave" on the lower level. The decks provide wonderful views, with amazing sunsets. Days were spent either playing in the water (kayaks and paddle boards provided) or golfing nearby courses. It was a wonderful week and we are already looking forward to next year! Phil & Cindy
Our large extended family has gathered at Pier House more than once, and find it a lovely peaceful home. Travelers find the most comfortable home with every amenity. The amazing kitchen easily welcomes our large group for all meals of any type - with a view which can't be beat. Kids of all ages as well as parents find house games, beach equipment, top tier sound equipment, places inside and out for fun, reflection, family conversations. The stunning sunsets are a tradition as we all gather each night on the decks or stairs to the beach to settle the evening. A charming restaurant / tavern is within walking distance. This beautiful home and the Allisons's will provide any lucky family with a great Pure Michigan vacation.
Our family has stayed at the Pier House each of the last two years, and all of us are looking forward to returning next summer.
This home is lovely and its design lends itself to multiple family stays. The bedrooms are comfortable and come equipped with nice linens. The kitchen is modern with high-end appliances, quality cookware, and small appliance amenities such as a blender, food processor, two types of coffee makers, and a waffle maker.
Stan and Linda Allison have thought of everything--wi-fi, sound system, game room, beach towels, kayaks, bicycles, standup paddle boards and a fire pit--all of which added to our enjoyment.
The view from the house is beautiful and the sunsets were breathtaking!
We found everything in the house to be clean and in good working order. We reported a glitch with the clothes dryer and within an hour Linda resolved the issue. The house bicycles didn't seem conducive to a lengthy ride. An hour after hearing about this, Stan appeared with three new bicycles.
We have rented homes on Lake Michigan for many years and the Pier House is by far the nicest and best maintained. Few rental properties are equipped with a full house generator in the event of a power outage.
Many thanks for another great week!
George and Ellen
We enjoyed a week of vacation with the extended family. We found a place with all what is needed for a great family vacation. The house was in very good shape, clean and had all items you would ask for. That also included the beach toys, ocean kayaks etc. directly at the beach. We also enjoyed the spacious cut of the rooms, so that even with several families we had room to spend time together but also big rooms for each part of family if needed. Stan the owner of the house was also taking great care of us.
We can only 100% recommend that house for every family vacation. We are happy to come back again!
The Pier House was perfect in every way! We felt like we got our money's worth in the first half a day. Stan and Linda have thought through every little detail to make their guests feel comfortable. Our extended family of 14 spent a glorious week at the beach, and there was ample room for all of us to be together, or to find a quiet place to ourselves. The grandkids loved the game room, and a few adults were even allowed to participate. The beach toys were great, and we were lucky enough to have calm water to try out the paddle boards. We love to cook, and found the gourmet kitchen a delight to be in and it was especially helpful to have a large stove, and lots of refrigerator space to accommodate our needs for the week. No need to bring anything from home, as it is all provided for you (even the beach towels). This is truly a lovely home, and the pictures on the web site do not do it justice. The beds and bedding are top notch. The outdoor decks and fire pit were a big hit with our crowd (we only ate inside one time). This is the fourth place we have rented on the Lake Shore in recent years, and is easily the best for amenities and location. Thank you Stan and Linda for providing such a perfect vacation spot.
The charming lake towns of Montague/Whitehall are 10 minutes away with a farmers market, small shops, weekend events throughout the summer and access to White Lake marinas. There are also weekly live music concerts at the Montague Bandshell.
Boating enthusiasts have a number of options. You can bring your own boat and launch nearby on White Lake or rent various watercraft by the day or week through several local vendors. If fishing is your interest, charters are available on Lake Michigan as well as White Lake. You can also fish off the White Lake Channel Pier or the Lifeguard bridge. Both are short walks from the house.
For the golfers in the group there are many options in the area. The Old Channel Golf Course is up the road about 3 miles. If you expand your options by 20 to minutes you can play Grand View Golf Course in New Era as well as the challenging Thoroughbred Golf Club in Rothbury. To the south, is the Stone Gate Golf Club located in Twin Lake. And finally for those golfers who truly want to experience the best golf in Michigan, Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club is two hours north near Manistee. This beautiful course sits on Lake Michigan and is a challenging links style design.
Additional fun for the entire family is a visit to Michigan Adventure Park which is 25 minutes to the south. Bring you own bikes or rent from local Montague shops. A water park and dude ranch at the Double JJ Ranch is 15 minutes away in Rothbury. About 30 minutes north is the Silver Lake Dunes area and the picturesque town of Pentwater. You can also canoe or kayak down the White River (visit the Happy Mohawk Canoe Livery website for more information). The kids will enjoy a visit to the Country Dairy In New Era as well.
