This town-home is incredibly private (we own and rent out both sides) and very pet-friendly! Units are impeccable. Pets are very welcome and we are obsessive about cleaning and maintaining our home! We are also able to fully set the house up for your baby. We've traveled with them ourselves and know how much easier is when you don't need to bring a long a pack and play, high chair, toys, etc. These items are neatly packed away out of sight for those without children.
The home is bright, airy and within a couple of short blocks to the beach. Each side has a private, fenced in backyard and a separate, private driveway. The kitchen is open and renovated with exposed beams and hardwood floors throughout both stories. Upstairs are two bedrooms, both with new queen beds and a full bathroom with a tub/ shower. Downstairs is completely open with a family room and dining area in the front and kitchen in the back. The unit gets great light throughout. There is also a half-bath on the first floor with a washer/ dryer dedicated to the unit.
The backyard is large and private, with plenty of room for your kids to play and BBQ s to be had. The landscaping is professionally maintained and is gorgeous. You're welcome to bring your kayaks, paddle boards, surf boards and any other summer toys! There's plenty of room to stash them.
The house is within walking distance of all of the local restaurants, including Scratch Bakery (just ten buildings up the road) as well as the amazing locally made, Willard Scoops ice cream!

Hi! My name is Maggie and welcome to our perfect vacation spot! I'm in my late 30s and my family comes many, many generations from Maine on both sides - my mom from a long line of dairy farmers and my father from generations of sea captains and fishermen. He was the first generation NOT born on Cranberry Island. Instead, he was born in the bustling village of Southwest Harbor on Mount Desert Island. I myself am a builder and designer and take a lot of pride in providing all of our guests with the kinds of places that we'd like to stay in ourselves. Our standards for design, decoration and amenities are incredibly high and we want you to reap the benefits of this!
Maggie Birlem purchased this townhome in 2006
These two town-homes are located in Portland's hippest area, the Willard Beach neighborhood. Both units are fresh, stylish, super comfortable and perfectly appointed for your trip to Maine. The house is located just a quick two minute walk to the beach as well as to all of the local, award winning restaurants, cafes, bakeries and ice cream shops (yes, there THREE within walking distance of the house!). It's incredibly close to downtown Portland while maintains the privacy that you'd want on your vacation. Our pet friendly policy allows you not to stress with your pet on vacation but we also thoroughly clean and maintain the unit for those who have pet allergies or just aren't as appreciative of pets. You'd never even know a pet has stayed there before! We'd love to have you come stay in our affordable and perfect vacation spot!
This well-kept, perfectly located duplex unit is in South Portland, a quick drive away from the center of Portland, which was perfect for us because we like to be near the action but not in the center of it. The unit has it's own driveway which can easily accommodate two cars. There's a small fenced in yard that is perfect if you have a dog. Portland is a very dog friendly town and you see people walking their pooches everywhere. The house is a block from Willard Beach where you can walk your dog on the beach from 7-9 am and then 7-9 pm during the summer. The unit was clean, welcoming and easy to access via a coded lock. There are two bedrooms upstairs which, although being small, were fine for us on this trip. There are dressers in each room with drawers under the beds for extra storage (we never used them). The full bathroom is upstairs as well with a beautiful shower/tub for your enjoyment. The water pressure was great and the tub was a nice retreat after a full day of walking. Our weather in Portland was on the warm side during our trip so know that the two bedrooms upstairs get hot and a little stuffy while sleeping. There wasn't any AC but we did find two fans in the closet which helped quite a bit during the night. The kitchen was perfect for our needs. We wound up bringing fresh lobster, clams and tuna steaks home with us one night. There's a grill outside for your use. The dining room has a nice roomy table for a family and the living area was comfortable and a nice spot to relax with coffee. There's a VERY small bathroom downstairs to use. I've never seen a sink that small; but hey, you're in there to do what you have to do and move on! There was a glitch with the tv/Netflix setup which we had to call Maggie/Noelle to come look at. If you're looking for cable to keep kids happy you might have had an issue with it but we figured it gave us time to relax, unwind and enjoy each other's company. Noelle eventually got Netflix up and running the next day. By the way, Noelle couldn't have been nicer, more pleasant and had great tips for us during our stay. There's a book of helpful resources for you on the counter. I normally don't like staying in duplex type of homes because you never know what type of noise you're going to get from behind the walls on the other side but we never heard the tenants once. The home is very walkable to Willard Beach, Scratch Bakery and David's 388 Restaurant on Cottage Road. A nice visit!
My husband and two daughters (ages 7 and 3) had a wonderful stay here. The house is an easy walk to the beach and to a few restaurants, and there is a very convenient bus line into downtown Portland if you don't want to drive. It was especially well-equipped for families with young children, with plenty of games available as well as plastic tableware in the kitchen. It was a great jumping-off point for us to explore southern Maine!
We stayed here in of April, me, my wife and 2 boys. Great, well equipped home, very comfortable and lots of character. easy access to the downtown Portland but a nice residential neighborhood, close to the beach and cape Elizabeth and it's parks, beaches and lighthouses. We would not hesitate to stay here again.
This house was perfect for our fall get away, it's adorable and feels homey. Great fenced in yard for a dog. Nice short drive to downtown Portland but the neighborhood was cute and fun to walk around and close to the beach and lighthouse. Maggie was great work with as well!
I loved staying in this rental. It was well-equipped, clean, and the beds were comfortable. It was also in an awesome location (so much so that I started looking at real estate in the area!). Would definitely stay here again.
