This was a great two bedroom "roommate plan" condo. Very clean, right on lagoon and near the center of Wild Dunes.
Would rent again!
My family and I enjoyed our stay at Lagoon Villas #33 in the last week of June, 2016. The unit was clean and the kitchen was well-equipped for our needs. This is our third year at Lagoon Villas, staying in a different villa each time, and this unit was our favorite. It is shaded and the AC units worked great, keeping us cool day and night. We will definitely book again...
We don't typically write reviews, but there are some things we think potential renters should be aware of regarding this unit. Isle of Palms is a beautiful place and Lagoon Villas is nicely located in Wild Dunes. This unit however desperately needs some attention.
Our biggest concern was the lack of kid friendliness. The front doorlock is operated using an electronic key pad. Although this is convenient, there is no deadbolt on the inside to secure the door at night. So, our 5 year-old and two year-old could have easily opened the door in the middle of the night. They were staying in one of the two bedrooms. Each bedroom can lock from the inside, but there is no key to unlock it from the outside. So, our children could have accidentally locked themselves inside the room. I see how these locks could be desirable for certain parties; but it's not ideal for families with small children.
The refrigerator and freezer stopped working in the middle of our visit. We were informed by the property manager that this was the third repair this refrigerator has had. He did have it repaired promptly and compensated us with a $50 gift card (for spoiled food) and bottle of wine, which was a nice touch. However, it was still an unwelcome hassle during our vacation. The dryer also had a note on it about making sure the chime was on, which we did. Unfortunately the dryer cycle never ended and it runs indefinitely. So, you have to constantly monitor it.
Lastly, we killed three "palmetto bugs" while we were there. We are no strangers to the south and understand sometimes this comes with the territory. However, seeing three of these creatures in six days was a little concerning.
On the positive side, there were plenty of towels and other supplies. There is a nice view of the lagoon and we saw an alligator floating by one day.
We're not picky people and don't put a high value on furnishings and decor... we're not moving in afterall. We just want a safe, clean, conveniently located and functional place to stay for a week.
Enjoy your travels!
The villa had everything we needed, even beach chairs. The one negative is that the section of beach nearest Lagoon Villas is nonexistent at high tide because of beach erosion. In fact, there were sand bags in front of some of the houses and these were in a state of disrepair. Tattered pieces of the sandbags could be found buried in the sand.
We enjoyed our stay. Accommodations were nice- however the upstairs tenants were very loud all day and night- we could hear every step across the floors- all night long- from both bedrooms. Honestly it sounded like grown men exercising by pacing across the floors- for hours! There is a real need for insulation between units. Also, there should be more than one bar of soap in each bath- as you need one in the shower- and one at the sink to wash hands etc.
