About Sharon A Wright
We are a Bahamian/British management organisation and trade under the heading of The Wright Partnership, the principals originate from, one here in the Bahamas and the other in England. We both live on Gt. Exuma not more than a 1/4 mile from the cottage and either of us are readily available to service you at short notice 24/7.
Sharon A Wright purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Sharon A Wright chose George Town
The cottage, was built in 2007 on lot # C12007, to a design we evolved where the main theme was to provide sea views from all habitable rooms. It was built to a Budget and the final cost was within a few $ of the Budget figure. It is designed and built to withstand hurricane force winds and has been tested by Hurricanes Irene 2011, Hurricane Isaac 2012, Matthew 2016 and a few Tropical Storms too. If you like to holiday here regularly, we will be please to design and construct your second home to a budget to suit you and yes look after it for you while you are away. Ask John about this service when you arrive. Great Exuma is the most naturally protected island in the Bahamas, the waters are the most colourful and ideal for sailing/cruising/fishing/swimming/diving. There is a protective sea wall on the water front and around the landscaped garden.
What makes this Cottage unique
There are fascinating reasons why this site was selected. The original site was at a very low level and the Spring High Water mark came well up into the site. By trimming the, sea facing rock front, it was possible to create a sheltered swimming area and the spoil was used to fill behind the sea defense wall. It is upon this rock fill, that the landscaping has been established. Initially a rock garden was formed., Later, between the rocks Sedge grass was planted, stone paths were laid down, Natural beach plants and succulents came along including Mangrove plants. Now you will find established plants and trees producing fruit and vegetables within 50'0' (15m) of the Ocean. Trees and bushes include: Tamarind, Pomegranate, Sugar Apple, Guava, Paw Paw or Papaya, Coco Nut, both black and white Coco Plumbs, Sea Grapes and Darling Plumbs Grapefruit Tangerine and Limes. Vegetables and herbs include: Bird peppers, Basil, Mint, Rosemary, Pea Nuts, Asparagus, Grannies Fingers or Okra, Pride of Barbados is a thorny pretty flowering tree yet the seeds are a good substitute for garden peas. Flowers include: Aloe Vera, Spider Lillies, Day Lillies, Amaryllis Agapanthos, 5 petal Periwinkle, Frangapanni, White and Red Hibiscus, 7 day Apple. Because of this interesting mix we have flying and crawling visitors: Humming bird visits daily for food (nested in a 7 day apple tree last year), Banana quit (nested on a Guava branch this year), the King Fisher picks up frogs, Osprey will take a fish from the sea whilst in flight, Heron stalk around in the shallows, any amount of fly catchers, yes we have lizards too. No doubt there is more flora and fauna I have not mentioned. Above everything else, it is the view in the morning either from the Bedroom or the Kitchen, absolutely majestic!

Had a great stay at the Boat House
I recently stayed 8 nights at the boat house. This was a solo fly-fishing trip for me. I was already familiar with the area as a friend and I had rented a house on the water about a quarter mile away the previous year. The fishing then was very good so I wanted to return this year to take another shot at those bonefish! The boat house met my needs swimmingly. John was a wonderful host. Prior to arriving he had arranged to purchase my fishing licence for me which saved me a trip to the administration building. He was there to meet me at the airport when I arrived and we stopped for food and supplies in town before dropping me off at the property. During my visit, he was very responsive and if there was anything I needed (e.g. gas for the grill, WiFi, weather / tide reports, etc.) it was immediately attended to. I used the provided kayaks every day to get to where I wanted and I also rented their car for a day. Worked out great. Thanks Sharon and John!
We are very glad you enjoyed yourself and of course we would like to host you again any time. Bring all your fishing friends now you know where the fish are to be found
Breath taking waterfront location. WOW!
My Husband and I love adventure and travel. I always research our destinations extensively. We decided on Great Exuma because of the small town feel and of course beautiful water. I picked the beautiful, quaint boathouse property because of the location and amenities. We require a kitchen, comfortable bed, outdoor living space and grill, nice bathroom with plenty of hot water, nice lush linens and a fabulous view. WOW! did this place hit all the marks!! We couldn't of asked for anything better. The hosts were wonderful. All of our communications before the trip were quickly answered via email. Our host John met us at the airport and gave us a quick tour of the town on the way to our property. He showed us where everything was like banks, grocery stores, liquor stores and gas station. He also gave a history of the area and taught us everything we needed to know about driving on the island. We are from the U.S, so it took a few miles to get used to driving on the opposite side of the road from what we are used to. John and Sharon have 2 cars and actually rented one of them to us at a fair price. When we arrived John showed us around and gave us some great suggestions on places for dinner. The boathouse was tastefully decorated with bright whites and touches of red. Very comfortable! Straight out over the most amazing turquoise water there is a deserted island that Sharon owns. John told us about it and we took the 2 person kayak on the approximate 1 mile paddle to the island. Another WOW! Paradise! We had a picnic, roamed the island and saw the huge nest of the resident Osprey. Then we went for a snorkel along the cliff edge and saw beautiful tropical fish. Back at the Boathouse we had a few drinks and watched an amazing sun set after a very exciting first day. Next time we come we will bring a small tent and sleep on Sharon's Island for a night. Dream come true, being on your own deserted island. (not really mine but you get the picture) Romance! Grand Exuma has so many beaches to explore with very few people. Have John help you contact Sharon's brother Martin. He has a very nice boat and will take you reef fishing and snorkeling,so many BIG colorful fish and lobsters and we caught our dinner!
Sorry about all the exclamation marks but I can't help it!! We want to go back! Thank you John and Sharon for sharing this amazing place.
We are so glad you had a good time and look fwd to your return visit. Thank you also for the review
Great view! Kayak and swim steps from your door!
Great view and great property! Use of kayaks and paddle boards is very to visit the private island and sand bar at low tide! Just a great place to relax and chill if you are looking for a low key day.
Suggestions- the boat could be cleaned up a bit. Overall it was a great place to stay and unwind for the week! John collected is for the airport which was great and gave us helpful tips about the island. Thanks John and Sharon
The Boat House
Our stay at the boat house was brief but very enjoyable. John was very help full and very informative. The car they loaned us was great. We will be visiting again in January.
Special thanks to John for all of his local knowledge.
Thank you Patrick, looking forward to your return
Worst experience of our lives!
I'm very sorry to say but this was absolutely the worst experience of our vacationing lives! We have traveled the world for 20 years and have never had such a bad experience. I'll try to keep this short but I'll say I could type for a few hours about how bad this place and the owners are. If you like rat shit in your cupboards then this is the place for you. If you love to be stranded with no food, no cell service and no vehicle then this is the place for you. If you cannot wait to NOT DO your laundry then this is the place for you. If you travel the world looking for the smallest and dirtiest place you can find then this is for you. If you really enjoy getting insulted by the owners when you ask why you haven't received your deposit for over a month....... yep you guessed it, this place is your dream. If you always wanted to go to the Bahamas and go fishing in their Boston whaler and you want to pay in advance for a broken boat that you pay for and then don't get to use and you want to fight the owner through email to get your money back uuuhuuuhh this place is all you. If you were dying to go kayaking in the pristine Caribbean waters and then swim back because all their kayaks have house in them, oh yeah the neighbor pulled us in with a long rope, yes once again this place is for you. If you love writing emails and fighting with a ghost owner who lives in England and doesn't give the slightest care about customer service you will fall madly in love with this gem. Here are a few additional tidbits of info, the bugs are killer, the closet store is a 3 hour walk roundtrip, groceries are literally twice as expensive than in the USA, their rental truck is a ragged out old diesel 4x4 probably and 80s model, no propane in the outside grills, loads of trashy shit in the yard old tires and liquor bottles. If you like to agree on a price and then the owners tell you it will be more then by all means please stay here. Her is a piece of advise DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE CASH ON ARRIVAL! You will never see your money again if you run into all the problems we are still having with these people. In short, they do not care about their customers or their services, only collecting and keeping your hard earned vacation money. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!
Hello, Ben Newsome of Texas USA who stayed at our Boat House 8 - 19 October 2015. Home Owners! beware, of this man, he needs a Mental Institution.
Clearly he has been having fun, spiteful though it may be, writing his unsolicited review. It is also clear to us that any reasonable prospective visitor coming to our development will be able to see through his rhetoric. He has provided so much information which conflicts with what can be found upon arrival, both to be expected and not expected.
We will rest in confidence that the sensible visitors will nod and agree he is way out of order. Maybe he had a chip off the shoulder he wanted to discharge.
A charming and romantic place
The boat house was a the best place to have a romantic week of holidays.
Just in the front of water, you woke up admiring the landscape before taking a morning bath in the sea.
We also really enjoyed using the kayaks and the Sharon's island
John and Sharon were very helpful with providing us all needed practical and touristic information before and during our week. John picked us up from the airport and take us for a tour in the main practical points of interest, and then pick us up back to the airport (despite of the very early time of our flight!). John was helpful during our week.
The only inconvenience we experienced were the mosquitoes (and even more the small flying insects which I don't remember the name), despite of the precautions and the boat's fly screens. Perhaps, this was the result of traveling during the rainy season (September)!
By the way, no mosquitoes avoided us having the greatest holidays, and enjoying the beautiful landscapes of the Exumas!
Thank you N..... She and her friend were visitors from France. Glad you enjoyed your visit.
