Make the most of the precious time you have to spend in Yosemite. My vacation home is within 25-35 minutes of Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point, Mariposa Grove (is closed for a restoration project until Spring 2017.) and Wawona is closer: some of the most popular 'must see' places. Save yourself from a long commute and slow moving lines getting in and out of the park. Imagine the convenience of being able head down to the Valley for sight-seeing or over to Wawona for a round of golf or up Glacier Point Road for a spectacular panoramic view of the valley and half dome. There are hiking trails and wild life found through out the Park. You are sure to make memories that will last a life time.
Both families and couples have enjoined their stay here. Your biggest problem will be deciding how to spend the limited time you have here. There are so many things to do in Yosemite.
This comfortable little chalet was completed in 2011. It has 2 bedrooms (1king, 1queen) there is a sofa bed in the living room (the size of a queen bed) and 2 bathrooms (1 on each floor). With a fully equipped kitchen including microwave, lots of cookware, dishwasher, and a stainless steel propane range surround with granite counters making meals are easy. There's a charcoal grill for outdoor cooking.
Perched high on the hillside with a driveway that is steep and narrow. you do best with a car that has high clearance. However once you are parked there's a ramp you go up and ONLY 2 steps to enter OR there is a ramp going around the house to the front deck. This makes it convenient for unloading the car.
Both bedrooms have a 32' TV and a sliding glass door with access to the upper deck. The living room has a 47' TV a propane fireplace.and sliding glass door leading to the lower deck. You will have fantastic views of the pine forests and the Merced River Canyon from both inside and on the deck.
Being about 2000' higher then the Valley it is not as hot up here. There is now A/C in the house.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the steepness of the driveway, during the winter season from November 1st through April 30th, you may not be able to use the driveway due to snow. When this happens arrangements will be made for you to be able to park close by.

Why Rebecca Haynie chose Yosemite West
I discovered Yosemite West back in the 1980s when I spent a week here going cross country skiing out of Badger Pass. There is no place closer one can stay.
What makes this Chalet unique
The views from here are breath taking. I find myself taking pictures of the sunset because they are beyond description. I've been surprised with how much wild life I can see from the decks. I often hear the chipmunks before I see them. The deer enjoy snacking on the hillside and the coyotes if not seen can be heard. Neighbors have shown me pictures of bear(s) in our neighborhood but I have yet to see one in this part of the park. There are lots of windows to fill the place with sunshine.and all offer majestic views.

Lovely house within the Yosemite NP area. Loved the evening sunsets. The write up is accurate about the spotty internet access, as it was hit and miss during the day but fine from midnight to 5 AM. When coming up the driveway, do use the second entrance to get up the drive, this was not intuitive. Otherwise this was a great place, good beds, full kitchen with complete accessories, and close to Glacier Point Rd. The sights of Yosemite are phenominal and we had a great time.
The house is in a great location to enjoy the park and a nice house. We had a rough start with the cleaning staff not having the house ready, but Mary Ann, contacted them and took care of the situation right away.
We happened to be there during an extremely hot time and the house doesn't have air conditioning. That was a little bit of a problem, so I would make sure she has added this before going during the hot summer.
We had a great stay here with our family of 5. It is about 20 minutes to the Valley and 25 minutes to Glacier Point. The house was well equipped and in good condition. It has some great sunsets and good for viewing the stars off the decks. Be sure to get food and gas before heading into the park. There is nothing nearby.
Great house and view
The house itself was great. The views from the balconies were top notch. Well equipped kitchen (supplies and appliances). Would recommend overall.
A note for anyone hoping to do work that the wifi is very limited (data capped).
Also, would not recommend using 7333 driveway, but going around the other side. People in that house blocked the driveway occasionally though.
Spotless home in great location
This cottage had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. There was a lovely deck overlooking the mountains where we could watch the sun set with a glass of wine, plenty of board games, a grill and lots of suggestions about Yosemite itineraries. The house was spotless too. At first we had wanted to stay in Yosemite valley but it was full, but our location was nice- the valley was so crowded it was good to leave at the end of the day. It did get really hot in house in the late afternoon but it cooled off quickly in the evening so that wasn't a real problem
Very nice home, a few challenges
The home is very nice and guest friendly. Everything is labeled to make it easy to use. The kitchen is generously stocked and well organized. Plenty of towels. We had a couple of challenges with the home. Many of them are probably beyond the owner's control.
One issue is that the driveway is shared with the neighbor home. From our experience and what we read in the guest book in the house, it doesn't seem like that neighbor's houseguests are made aware of the shared driveway or how to best use it. We wound up having to park at the far end of the driveway and then back out. I knocked on their door one night to make sure they weren't going to block us in before our early morning departure.
Another issue is the heat. While the home has lots of ceiling fans and box fans, we really needed air conditioning when we were there. (The daytime high temperatures were in the upper 80s and 90s.) It was still pretty hot even late at night.
We weren't familiar with the geography when we booked this VRBO. Now we know how vast Yosemite is and many of the things we wanted to do start in Yosemite Village. We started each day early to accommodate for the half hour drive to the valley and wound up coming home pretty late to avoid the afternoon traffic (and one night because we were attending the Ranger program about Search and Rescue Operations - which was terrific!) This isn't a criticism of the home, just something I wish I had known. My understanding is that lodging in the village is hard to come by and probably not nearly as nice as this home.
Mary Ann was a great and responsive host.
Thank you, Mary Ann.
Thank you for your review. Since Scenic Wonders has taken over managing the house I share the driveway with there has been problems with people parking their cars on the driveway. I have started sending out the phone number for Scenic Wonders and the phone number for the house so you can call.
Last year we lost a lot of trees to the bark beetle and with the removal of the trees the temperature has gone up. I will be looking into getting a/c installed
My vacation home is located inside Yosemite park eliminating the need to wait in line for re-entry. It is among the closest accommodations to the major attractions such as Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point, Wawona Golf Course, the Mariposa Grove (which is closed for Restoration till July 2017) and various trail heads. I allow 30 minutes to get down to the Valley a little longer to get to the Golf Course, When I go to the Mariposa Grove I'll park my car at the Wawona store and take the shuttle bus. I would advise anyone staying in Yosemite West and preparing their own meals, to do their grocery shopping before they enter the park. There are grocery stores in the Valley and at the Wawona store but most of the prices are higher. Then there are restaurants, from the dining room at the Ahwahnee to the pizza deck in Curry Village IF at all possible I would recommend one stays at least a week because there is so much to do. In the Valley I would recommend parking your car in the Day Use Parking then taking the free shuttle bus around. A popular place is the Ahwahnee, a 4 diamond hotel which was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Dinning used to require a jacket for men but has eased up on that tradition and now collard shirts for men and woman may wear dress or slacks and blouse. Historic Ahwahnee Tours are also available. The visitor center is a must stop. The staff is always helpful with how to plan your stay in Yosemite. They can also tell you about the ranger's program and Interpretive walks There's a bookstore and museum near by. There's the Ansel Adams Gallery which offers photography workshops and a camera walk (class size & availability are limited). You are in Bear country which means food may only be inside your car (out of sight, widows completely closed) during daylight hours. Remember to clear your car of food wrappers, crumbs in baby seats, and baby wipes. Even canned food and drinks must be removed from your car.
