Parking is on street. A car is not needed at this property. If you desire a vehicle we recommend using Zipcar, which provides vehicles by the hour.
If you are traveling with children please consider renting your baby equipment from our friends at Boston Baby Rentals. They offer full size cribs, portable cribs, strollers, high chairs, and more. It's less costly than paying expensive baggage fees at the airport. These items can be delivered and setup prior to your arrival.
We had a wonderful trip in Boston and enjoyed our stay here. It is right across the street from Andrew Station (Red Line) which made for quick and easy trips into the city with our 4 year old. There is a small grocery store right across the street as well, so snacks and staples are easy to get. The laundry mat across the street is not a typical "take it and do your own laundry" setup. You have to give it to the owners and they charge by the pound and do it for you, available a few hours later. They use nasty cheap soap, so I would recommend bringing your own.
The place was clean and the pictures are accurate. It has cable TV, which was nice when you just needed to take a break from all the running around. The WiFi is pretty much unusable though. It's EXTREMELY slow (I was getting between 0.9 and 1.9 MB/sec, which according to speedtest.net is a 'F' grade and slower than 91% of the United States). If you have 1 device connected, you can do simple browsing, but more than one, forget about it. And if you are updating an app on your smartphone for instance, any additional connected devices will be toast. This should be upgraded... It was also an 'open' network, which is a bad idea from a security standpoint. (Of note, I tested with power cycling the router to ensure no one else was connected, and the performance was still an issue. I think they just have the very basic of service, which is very poor on Comcast's network).
As for the apartment itself. The bathroom door had a big hole in that someone tried to patch, but as I understand it they were going to try and replace it after our stay. While small, the place was just fine for our needs. They have 1 pot and 1 pan and some of the kitchenware could use replacing, but we were able to do some cooking at the apartment, so it worked out ok too.
While there, we experienced a water leak in the front bedroom's closet when it rained one day. The place is old, but overall, it is adequate. This was getting fixed once we checked out.
Biggest drawback; the upstairs neighbors were very loud, especially on the Friday and Saturday night, so just keep that in mind.
The customer service was great, quick responses, so that is nice. Overall, I would recommend the place.
We used public transportation and UBER for getting around and I'm glad we didn't get a car, there is very little parking anywhere around, so if you have a rental, you are going to be hard pressed to park close to the apartment.
This apartment is direct across the street from the Andrew Square subway station, which provides easy access to the city centre. Andrew Square showcases the culture of South Boston with the conveniences of the city just a short ride away.
The area is filled with pizza parlors, coffee shops, and a great selection of restaurants. Stop & Shop (grocery store), Super Target, Office Max, Best Buy and much more are within walking distance.
