Perfect little cabin in a great location in a great place

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is older and rustic, it does have some flaws which are pretty common for older properties like this. But the upstairs loft is awesome. Super cozy living room with beautiful fire place. It has view of lake and is in walking distance to boat rental. I would love to back to this place !

You get what you pay for

  • 3 of 5

On the plus side, the location. We were there for a summer stay. There's a marina (we rented a boat) on the same street and you can easily walk to the main village. Big Bear Blvd takes you everywhere you need to go. The cabin has a lake view only obstructed by the cabins across the street (the street borders the lake). It is good size: 3 large beds and a cot. It was much cheaper than other options. The not so good: This is a property that sorely needs to be upgraded. Everything inside and out is run down, broken, pealing, oddly stained or seen better days. Spider webs rule everything outside the door and we even found them on one of the beds. The main parts are kept clean by housekeeping, but anything other than that just has a grungy look and feel to it. Fixtures from the 70s. Doors and windows that don't close right or stay on track (wooden poles are the security system). The old electrical outlets are so loose the plugs lose contact. No AC, and I wonder about heat, too (there are fans and portable heaters in all the rooms).

Like I said: you get what you pay for, and we were okay with that. We used the money we saved for other things. But if you are looking for a really nice place, look across the street. Those houses looked really nice.

Cozy, charming, warm cabin by the lake!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay (4 of us) was perfect! Our cabin was able to accommodate us all with 2 downstairs bedrooms and 1 upstairs loft. Easily sleeps 7. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, tv has Netflix for those late night movie binges, and both balconys provide beautiful views of the lake. Couldn't ask for a better deal on such a wonderful cabin. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Dated cabin, but perfect location

  • 4 of 5

My husband, dog, and I stayed for a couple of nights and it had everything we needed. Although the condition of the cabin is very dated it was a really quick walk to the Village where all the shops and restaurants are (about 5-8 mins) and a quick walk to the Big Bear Marina (about 5-8 mins) where we rented a pontoon. Therefore, you can't beat the location. The cabin has two standard bedrooms and an open loft which functioned as a bedroom as well. There is one full bathroom downstairs and a half bedroom upstairs in the loft. The kitchen seemed stocked with the usual things you would need (dishes, pots, utensils, microwave, coffee maker, etc.), however we did not cook in the kitchen. We brought our own plastic cups and didn't use any dishes. There are a couple of balconies that had lake views which was really nice. You wouldn't know it from the description, but the property does have a nice lake view -- especially from the upstairs balcony. A plus was the upgraded television equipped with HBO and Showtime along with other channels, a DVD player, and WiFi that had zero connectivity issues. The backyard is not fenced, therefore you would not be able to leave your dog unattended -- this didn't present an issue with us. In general, as stated before, expect a dated cabin. Old fixtures, carpet, furniture, curtains, kitchen, bathroom, shower, etc. Nothing fancy about this cabin at all. A lot of creaks in this place. But with clean towels, linens, and a few essentials provided (small bars of soap, small bottle of dish liquid, and toilet paper) it was a good stay. If you don't plan to spend all day and night in the cabin, but need a comfortable place to stay close to mostly everything then this is the place for you!

The home is a basic cabin with a little wear and tear - but it is in a perfect location and has all you need with out the bells and whistles. We Thank you for being our Guest and hope you will come back to enjoy Oktoberfest with us - or just come play in the Snow this Winter. See you soon!

Great Pet Friendly Cabin Near Lake and Village

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has beautiful views of Big Bear Lake and is within easy walking distance to Big Bear Village. The beds are comfortable and the newer gas grill is perfect. The cabin has lots of natural light, multiple balconies, central heating, and a large fireplace. It is clean, well maintained, and has TV and fast internet. We never turned on the TV and spent a lot of time enjoying the beauty, peace, and chirping birds from the many decks. Our 3 chihuahuas were easy to care for in the half-fenced back yard. We would rent Papa Bear #1493 cabin again.
