Kingfisher Bend Ranch is situated at elevation 7,600 feet on nearly 1,250 secluded acres in the southwest corner of Wyoming on the north slope of the beautiful Uinta Mountains where some peaks exceed 13,000 feet in height. The Bear River flows through the middle of the ranch providing excellent, private, catch-and-release fly fishing for trout from mid-July through late October.
KBR will no longer be open in winter. Our earliest 2016 booking will be May 27, 2016. Our 2016 booking policy and rates will be posted no later than November 1, 2015. Summer activities include horseback riding, fly fishing, kayaking, sand volley ball, pickle ball, basketball, horseshoes, and hiking. This property is all-inclusive and activities are included in your reservation.
Photogenic Scottish Highland cattle are raised on the ranch. They produce grass-fed, lean beef and beautiful hides which we offer for sale. We also raise black angus, grass-fed beef.
In season, the ranch is home to a few lucky guests, horses, mule deer, elk, moose, porcupines, cougars, foxes, bobcats, badgers, beavers, coyotes, skunks, raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks, bald eagles, golden eagles, owls, hawks, Canada geese, various ducks, great blue herons, belted kingfishers, sandhill cranes, lazuli buntings, crows, robins, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, swallows, bluebirds, chickadees, and more.
The 1.3 million-acre Wasatch-Cache National Forest is less than five miles from the ranch. It offers wonderful scenic drives, hikes, bike rides, ATV trails, snowmobiling, and a groomed cross-country ski area. Restaurants, bowling, theaters, shopping, and an 18-hole golf course are 20 minutes away in Evanston. Park City and Deer Valley ski and resort areas are just over an hour from the ranch. A lake for water skiing and windsurfing is 20 minutes from the ranch.
The ranch buildings (including a barn) were built in 2001. Each unit has a full kitchen with granite countertops. Guests provide and prepare their meals. Linens are provided. The guest portion (2,100 s.f.) of the Lodge has two full bathrooms and sleeps 12 in four bedrooms (one bedroom with queen bed, one bedroom with two twin beds and two bedrooms each with two bunk beds). The Lodge has a piano; a recreation room with foosball, ping-pong, and satellite TV; a washer and dryer; and an outdoor propane grill. About a five-minute walk from the Lodge are two 900 s.f. Pond Cabins on the edge of a 1.4 acre pond stocked with trout. Each has a full bathroom, two bedrooms, and can sleep six (two in a queen bed, two in two twin beds and a pullout queen sleeper sofa).
Fair weather activities at the ranch include biking, hiking, horseback riding on trails or in our riding ring, fly fishing on the Bear River or our pond, boating on the pond in kayaks or a rowboat, basketball, volleyball on a sand court, Fisebee golf, pickleball, great outdoor activities for kids, and horseshoes. More than two private miles of the Bear River flow through the ranch. Fishing is catch and release with barbless flies only.
Horseback riding is not available on Sundays. There is no charge for ranch activities. Horseback rides are led by the ranch manager. A liability release form must be signed to participate in ranch activities.
Keywords: Guest Ranch with 4BR 2BA lodge (sleeps 12) and two cabins each 2BR 1BA (each sleeps 4). Fly fishing. Horseback riding. Near Salt Lake City. Cabins.
The ranch is family-owned. It is not a motel. It is a special place with only three units where guests can unwind, escape from city life, find solitude and rejuvenation, have special experiences, enjoy memorable encounters with 'nature', and, at the end of their stay, feel that it was a wonderful vacation.
Ranch Manager Brian Robinson purchased this cabin in 2001
Peace. Quiet. Tranquility. A great place to stay and play. A quick getaway close to Salt Lake City, Park City and Ogden. We have excellent summer activities including horseback riding, kayaking to name a few, all included with your reservation. We're located at the base of the Uinta Mountains, where there are over 400 miles of ATV trails and world-class snowmobiling on thousands of acres of National Forest.
Beautiful cabins. Wildlife. Exceptional fly fishing in season. No charge for guided horseback rides. Solitude - near a highway but once you are settled in, you will feel as though the 'world' is many miles away. 1,250 acres creates an excellent world of its own. A broad array of enjoyable activities (and some excellent porches on which to sit and do nothing).
It is a bittersweet moment as we pack up and head home. We forget that a beautiful and tranquil place like this exists. Our family had a wonderful time.
We had such a wonderful time at our family reunion!!! The accomodations were superb. The managers treated us like family.
When we asked for anything, the managers were both there to help us
with anything we needed. The activities were fun and we always had something to do. It was fun and relaxing.
Kingfisherbendranch was amazing! I would recommend it to any and everyone wanting to get away from the city life, and have as much or as little excitement as you want. We couldn't have asked for better managers and friends with Josh and Em. Better people don't exist in this world. There was a lot to do the whole time there, and it was very relaxing. I don't think there is a better place to spend time at a home away from home. I was and am still sad to have left such a nice, beautiful, and peaceful area.
Kingfisher Bend Ranch was perfect for our family reunion! There was plenty to do for everyone, every age; we never left the ranch for the week. Highlights were riding the horses (the scenery was incredible!), kayaking on the Bear River, swimming/kayaking/playing in the pond, playing pickleball, frisbee golf, roasting marshmallows around the campfire, and just hanging out and playing games. Josh and Emilie, the ranch managers, were great - very friendly, very accommodating. I highly recommend it!
this was a perfect fit for my siblings and me, with all our families. Each little cabin fit a 6-7 person family great. Plenty of room and kitchen needs and such. And those are located right at the pond...like a Walden Pond getaway.
The main lodge was good for our needs. We enjoyed playing pickleball and seeing the cows, cats and chickens roam around in the woods. Riding horses was nice, though we got there friday and many left monday, so there was only really saturday to ride. Overall, it had a nice relaxing feel, but with some casual activity options in case you need a little more than nature offers.
A beautiful, serene place to get away from the routines of life. A perfect place for our family group with children aged 3 and up, teens, adults and grandparents. There is lots of things for everyone to do. No need to leave the ranch, although that is an option. The lodging is clean, beautifully furnished, spacious, and well stocked with the necessities you need to live away from home. [bring your own food & towels for the pond] Riding horses, kayaking on the pond, playing in the forest, seeing wildlife, along with being around the campfire, were the most popular things with our group. However, the porches invite you to just sit and enjoy the beauties that surround you. Our favorite part was the ranch managers. They are so fun to be around. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone was able to participate, and have fun, in any of the available activities. They treated us like family. Thanks for an awesome week at the ranch! We didn't want to say good-bye! Many want to live there! We will certainly be back!!!
we really enjoyed our stay here, the cabins are super clean, the area is peaceful and secluded, and the people who run the place are very nice. We got to ride horses and fish, it was a blast! Definitely coming back soon.
Hunting (bow and rifle) for deer, elk and moose can be arranged with a hunting company that has exclusive hunting rights on the property. Wonderful trout fly fishing in season.
