perfect property- house not so great
This property is absolute perfection. 3 families shared with our kids. The property is a diamond; total gem. The interior of the home was not the greatest. Was bothered that we were asked to clean the house and that firewood ran out. Called the owner Matt who would not provide more firewood. Also, no hand soap, hand towels, or kitchen towels provided; had to purchase our own. We also had to buy our own toilet paper as not enough was supplied. Recommend bringing your own pillows and blankets- one bedspread was held together with duct tape. Worry about the safety of the bunk beds as one was missing pegs. The pond is super clean and great for floating and swimming. Super fun raft and paddle boat. Fishing was great for the kids. We had a great time and the perfect outdoor setting makes up where the interior is lacking. In short; absolutely perfect property with not the perfect home.
It was perfect!
My wife, two daughters, their spouses, and our 4 grandchildren stayed for a little less than a week. We did not want to leave! The property is beautiful. I still remember our first entrance to the "cottage" and realizing that we did not have a "cottage". The residence is not a cottage or cabin, but a lake home, with a great view of the private lake. The home has a two car garage and plenty of parking area for visitors. Everything in the kitchen worked very well, and there were lots of glasses, plates, pots and pans, flatware, etc. The appliances all worked very well. The air conditioning worked very well. The only complaint I was aware of concerning the house was that some of the mattresses were a little too soft on the bed frames for some of the adults, and the issue was resolved by putting the mattresses on the floor. We did not stay long in our bedrooms. The quietude and solitude are unmatched. We saw deer, turkeys, geese, cranes and turtles, and heard wolves howling one night. The lake was quite the treat. It is a spring-fed, extremely clear lake with lots of bluegill and perch, and turtles. Four kayaks, two canoes, one rowboat and one two-person pedal pontoon boat, and three life preservers were provided. We used them all, especially the kayaks and the pedal pontoon boat. For little kids, the sandy beach was perfect for playing in the sand and the shallow, sandy-bottomed swimming area was perfect for the little ones to be in the water safely and enjoyable. There were lots of times some of us were fishing, some of us were kayaking, and some of us were swimming all at the same time. The gas grill operated well. We had a lot of visitors during each day with relatives and friends coming by and all were so impressed with how wonderful the home, grounds and lake were, and the property was able to absorb us all. My experience has been that photographs generally attempt to make a place look nicer that it really is. My experience with this place was that the photographs underestimated how nice it really is. Everyone in our group were from Albuquerque, Phoenix or Houston. We were all in a sense of wonder at how lucky we were to get this place. We all spoke of wanting to go back next year for a longer period of time. We were there the first week of August, 2017.
Albuquerque, New Mexico
Very peaceful. Injoyed the wildlife. Matt is a pleasure to work with.
Looking forward to seeing you next year.
Very private, lots of space, great lake!
We absolutely loved our stay at this lake house! The water is very clean and the kids loved watching the fish when we took the paddleboat out around the edges of the lake (the paddleboat was a HUGE hit with the kids!). The sand was great to play in and we loved that it was sandy around the dock up to about a 4-5 foot depth - this meant the kids could play in the shallow water without getting full of weeds or muck.
We also loved swimming out to the raft, which is in rough shape. Unfortunately, halfway through our week, the ladder broke. Matt attempted a temporary fix, which worked fairly well, and then tried to re-attach the ladder, which failed miserably (the fault of rotten wood, not Matt!). As Matt said, the raft needs to be completely rebuilt, which will hopefully get done in the off-season so that next year's renters can enjoy a problem-free raft!
The house has a great lay-out. The kitchen and living room are spacious and open. Two of the bedrooms are very good sized with ceiling fans, but the third is pretty small (it obviously was originally an office) to sleep three and, without a ceiling fan, got pretty stuffy at night. We personally wished they had put a queen bed in the office and a queen bed with twin bunk beds in the other two rooms. The bunk beds are *very* uncomfortable for adults to sleep on. Also, if you're particular about your pillow, bring your own!
Our only concern about booking this house again in the future is a general feeling of the house not being kept up in the maintenance department. All major things worked great (besides the raft), but it was many little things that seem so easy to keep up with but aren't being taken care of. It didn't really affect our enjoyment of the house this year, but we worry about more things not being maintained for future years (we did make a list of these little things if the owners/managers are interested!).
All things being said, we had a great week at this lake house and made memories to last a lifetime. Thanks so much for renting this property to us!
Peace, quiet, and privacy.....the perfect vacation scenario!
The house was beautiful and spacious. All the windows along with the open and screened-in porch made it very comfortable and enjoyable to sit, relax and enjoy viewing the pond when not at the sandy beach swimming, fishing (which was great!) or in the paddle or row boats that were provided!
It was wonderful to have such a great place that allowed dogs! We had many lovely walks and the dogs had a great time swimming, too!
Would highly recommend renting this property for a wonderful, relaxing, and enjoyable vacation!
Everything you can ask for!!!!
Very clean and warm house!
Skiing close by. No problems not at all!
