Overview

About the property

1927 Wash Park Bungalow

*We comply with all local laws, we have a short term rental license (2016-BFN-0008388) and we pay all local taxes*

Charlotte grew up in this home and now it's our pleasure to share it with you. It is two blocks from Washington Park, close to light rail, bike rental, grocery stores, restaurants, University of Denver, The Denver Tech Center and downtown. Pet and child friendly.

Charlotte moved into this house when she was 11 years old in 1927 (check out the photo in on the desk) with her parents and siblings. She lived here for 84 years and moved out just before she turned 96. Now her home is helping to pay for her assisted living costs. She would love to hear about your stay at her home, we have a notebook where you can leave her a message, she'll probably reply!

We know your pets (please discuss before booking with pets) and children will love the big back yard and walks in the beautiful park. The area is safe and the neighbors are friendly!

The house is equipped with everything you need to cook fabulous meals, has cable and HBO, high speed wi-fi and is beautiful and comfortable. There is a twin size air mattress for extra guests.

We've stocked the house with guide books so you can easily find a good trail to bike, run or snowshoe.

You have access to the entire house, front and back yards.

There is a lock-box with a key for late arrivals. We're happy to help with things like grocery shopping etc with advance arrangements but we don't want to bother you if solitude is what you're after. We'll let you take the lead.

The Washington park neighborhood centers around one of Denver's finest parks, known as wash park for short. The park covers 165 acres, and features one of the most popular running trails in Denver. Two scenic lakes and the city's largest flower garden add to wash park's bucolic charm.

Wash park neighborhood is a very safe and lovely area for a stroll, the people are friendly and there are many shop and restaurants within walking distance.

The house is about a mile from the light rail station. It's one block to the bus which will take you right to the bike rental kiosk and light rail. Denver has a wonderful bike rental program and bike paths that make cycling an ideal way to get around the city.

We've supplied maps and transit information for you.

About Gretchen (and Charlotte)

I'm Gretchen, Charlotte's granddaughter and I'm helping her list and manage her home. Charlotte moved to an assisted living facility after living in her home for 84 years. In renting her home we hope we've found a way that her home can financially support her assisted living costs. She misses her home very much but the wonderful notes left by guests make it easier.

Gretchen (and Charlotte) purchased this house in 1927

What makes this house unique

Four generations of our family have lived in this home. There are a lifetime of precious memories here for our family and we hope that it's a special place for you as well.

Clean and Cozy

The house was just as pictured. The location is great and it was a perfect base for our visit to Denver. We had a little problem with the door code when we arrived but Gretchen responded immediately! I would highly recommend the property.

Absolutely Wonderful!!

  • 5 of 5

Charlotte's home is so comfortable and Gretchen was such a blessing in a very stressful time. The home Has everything! Lots and lots of pots, pans, dishes, blankets and silverware! Believe me, some HomeAway.coms only have bare minimums. The pet friendly policy was great - our pups enjoyed the fenced in yard. The charm of an older home in a historic neighborhood was very comforting. We were home to Denver to be with my Mom in hospice and as she passed away. Coming back to a home each evening as opposed to a hotel made a world of difference. Gretchen - oh my gosh you couldn't ask for a better host! Loved every minute of staying in Charlotte's home.

Delightful stay in Charlotte's home...cozy and oh so comfortable, in the best Denver neighborhood.

  • 5 of 5

Gretchen made our seven day stay in east Washington Park an easy, affordable and friendly experience...from the first moment we inquired, to the efficient refund of our Deposit (after we successfully "checked out"). A true neighborhood, with familiar, distant sounds of a high school football game on Friday night from the local high school, children playing sweetly in their yard across the alley, friendly Denver folks walking dogs in Wash Park as

well as delicious dining options nestled a short and lovely walk down the leafy streets. We will plan to make Charlotte's childhood home our "home base" in Denver for as long as she graciously shares it.

Adorable home in the perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Gretchen's and Charlotte's home. There were seven adults, two children, and two dogs. We found everything we needed from the ironing board to towels to wipe off messy paws! The location was perfect for our visit to the museum and Washington Park was close enough to walk to. The park was my personal favorite...what a great place to get some exercise and enjoy the beautiful trees, flowers, and ponds. We have visited Denver many times just for the day or overnight but it was so nice to stay longer and be all together instead of in separate hotel rooms. Thank you Gretchen and Charlotte for sharing your house with us.

Lovely home close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 (3 kids that are 6 years old and under) just finished a great visit at Charlotte's house. The house is exactly as pictured and in a great location and neighborhood-easy to get to everything. The backyard with the covered patio was our favorite place to be. Thank you for such a great stay!

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this beautiful bungalow. Everything was immaculate and beautifully decorated. The house was centrally located and a few blocks from beautiful Washington Park. It was also walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Plenty of parking and situated on a beautiful tree lined street. The house had a large and restful backyard, great for exercising our dog. We would recommend this bungalow to anyone who is visiting Denver. We are looking forward to going back to Denver and hopefully staying here again. It was truly a home away from home. Thank you for sharing this bungalow with us and our dog Sadie. Debbie and Diane
