Charlotte grew up in this home and now it's our pleasure to share it with you. It is two blocks from Washington Park, close to light rail, bike rental, grocery stores, restaurants, University of Denver, The Denver Tech Center and downtown. Pet and child friendly.

Charlotte moved into this house when she was 11 years old in 1927 (check out the photo in the dining room) with her parents and siblings. She lived here for 84 years and moved out just before she turned 96. Now her home is helping to pay for her assisted living costs. She would love to hear about your stay at her home, we have a notebook where you can leave her a message, she loves reading about your stay!

We know your pets (please discuss before booking with pets) and children will love the big backyard and walks in the beautiful park. The area is safe and the neighbors are friendly!

The house is equipped with everything you need to cook fabulous meals, has cable and HBO, high-speed wi-fi and is beautiful and comfortable. There are a couple twin size air mattress for extra guests.

We've stocked the house with guidebooks so you can easily find a good trail to bike, run or snowshoe.

You have access to the entire house, front and backyards.

There is a coded deadbold on the front door for late arrivals. Each family gets their own custom code for security. We're happy to help with things like grocery shopping etc with advance arrangements but we don't want to bother you if solitude is what you're after. We'll let you take the lead.

The Washington Park neighborhood centers around one of Denver's finest parks, known as wash park for short. The park covers 165 acres and features one of the most popular running trails in Denver. Two scenic lakes and the city's largest flower garden add to wash park's bucolic charm.

Wash Park neighborhood is a very safe and lovely area for a stroll, the people are friendly and there are many shop and restaurants within walking distance.

The house is about a mile from the light rail station. It's one block to the bus which will take you right to the bike rental kiosk and light rail. Denver has a wonderful bike rental program and bike paths that make cycling an ideal way to get around the city.

About Gretchen (and Charlotte)

I'm Gretchen, Charlotte's granddaughter and I'm helping her list and manage her home. Charlotte moved to an assisted living facility after living in her home for 84 years. In renting her home we hope we've found a way that her home can financially support her assisted living costs. She misses her home very much but the wonderful notes left by guests make it easier.

Notes:
Charlotte lived in this house from age 11 to age 97, the house is much as it was when she moved in. The floors are original to the house and creak, The kitchen has the original cabinets and countertops except for the cabinets and drainboard that were added in the 50's. The basement is very much as it was the day they moved in except for modern washer and dryer instead of the vintage one with a wringer that came with the house. If you're looking for modernity you may want to skip this home. While we've added many modern comforts like A/C and a television and high-speed internet, we've left much of the house untouched. We like it that way and we hope you do too.

Great home away from home!

We had SUCH a great experience at Charlottes house. It was above and beyond with all the amenities we could need and great safe location. Gretchen was very responsive and willing to help as well. We would definitely rent again.

So charming, I felt at home

Comfy, convenient and family friendly

Traveled to Denver to visit friends and family for a long weekend. The neighborhood was super cute, great coffee and restaurants within walking distance. Very convenient to the Zoo, downtown and parks. The toys and games were perfect entertainment for our toddler and the backyard was a great spot to hang out in the late afternoon/early evening. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The couches could have been a little more comfortable but were ok for a short stay. Would definitely rent again. Thanks!

Delightful family-friendly home

The home was absolutely perfect for our family. It was clean, comfortable, and well stocked. Gretchen even has pack n plays and kids' toys there! She was responsive and immediately available our entire trip. We would recommend this home with no reservations, and hope to return!

Great Visit to Denver in Washington Park!

First of all the home is located in one of the nicest neighborhoods you could hope for. The Washington Park are and Gaylord neighborhood is wonderful for shopping, eating, and celebrating. Easy to walk to the Gaylord area. The house is clean and nicely maintained with original materials. Fun signs around the home to remind guests how to take care of the residence. Our only rental research oversight was missing the one bathroom feature for the 3-bedroom house. We managed by being more mindful of the need to use less time in the bathroom to accommodate fellow guests. Very comfortable overall.
