I am a busy professional. I spend my leisure time swimming, running, practicing yoga, cycling and skiing.
I went to law school in San Diego from 1998-2001. During that time, I enjoyed how available the beach was for me as I could only afford a short time away from my studies.
I am originally from Reno, Nevada. My entire family, from my grandmother to my nieces and nephews reside in Reno. I returned to Reno for my dream job as a CPS attorney which is why my home is now on VRBO. I help Social Services in reuniting children to their parents after they have been found to have been neglected or abused. I always thought I would use my Spanish speaking skills in San Diego, but I have found them more useful in Reno, surprisingly. I find my job rewarding, but there is nothing like home, especially, the ocean breeze at night, the feeling of the sun against your face, the relaxed beach attire, and the serenity of the ocean. I hope to make it back to San Diego, but for now, please enjoy it for me!
Courtney E. Leverty purchased this townhome in 2007
I purchased this property because of the rooftop balcony and the fact that I thought I could grow there with a family some day. I have owned the property for seven years. My family is only comprised of my dog, Padraig and I. As you can see, he is a ten pound dog who does not shed, so we keep our home clean and fur free.
In looking at homes in the Pacific Beach area, there were no other properties that allowed this type of outdoor living style. Plus, the fact is that I have the hope to build up the patio, so I can see the ocean. Right now, the fireworks at Sea World will have to do.
I had no intention of owning the home on my own. I worked hard to keep the house in the middle of the housing crisis and I did it!! Now, I want to keep it for me so that I have a place to go when I either retire or find a job that means as much to me as the one I have now. There is something about my Beach Beryl Property that gives me so much independence, confidence, happiness, and strength. My daily runs on the beach kept me grounded. With those runs, I constantly reminded myself, 'that I do not need money to be happy as long as I have my house and my runs on the beach.' That run drove me every day to work hard despite the days I wanted to quit, stop the travel, depositions, trial and motion work. I lived a very hectic life traveling between Las Vegas, Nevada and San Diego, California so that I could keep my house and keep up my outdoor activities.
I talk about the upstairs balcony, but the downstairs patio also provided me a place to people watch, talk to neighbors, and enjoy my morning cup of coffee and dinners in the evening. The trees in the front yard are spectacular and provide great separation from the street and the house.

Plenty of everything. This was the perfect spot as we transitioned into the new neighborhood and new home just miles away. It was close to beach, deli, coffee joints, and local pubs. Friendly neighbors and atmosphere. Courtney always made sure there were plenty of linens and supplies and super quick to get back to you with any questions. Highly recommend for business or pleasure.
My wife and two adult children spent nearly a week in this great condominium during a trip to San Diego. The condominium is in excellent condition and provides all amenities needed for a vacation. It has a very nice kitchen that is well-stocked with cookware and dining ware. There is a great rooftop terrace for relaxing at any time during the day. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms are very nice and updated.
It is in a really nice, quiet neighborhood. Although we had a rental car, it was easy to walk or ride rental bikes to several great restaurants. It was also only a 5 minute walk to the beach, which we did at least twice a day. Its location is also convenient for being able to go either south to Downtown San Diego or north to La Jolla within 15-20 minutes. I got to Torrey Pines without any problems for an awesome round of golf!
I highly recommend this property, and will try to stay there again if I return to San Diego.
This property is falsely advertised as a 3 bedroom when, in actuality, it is a two bedroom home with an extra VERY small sitting room. The property was clean but the kitchen very outdated with broken and dirty dishes in the cupboards. We found out AFTER we paid for the property and the deposit that the owner takes a cleaning service fee out of the security deposit. We were sorely disappointed in the poor customer service. I would definitely not recommend this property to friends or relatives.
My wife and I and our adult children spent one week at this great townhouse. It is a very nice home in a quiet, pleasant community. It was wonderful to be able to walk to the ocean and to several good restaurants such as Enoteca Adriano (one block). It is convenient both to the airport and downtown as well as La Jolla and Torrey Pines. We enjoyed coffee on both the patio and the rooftop deck. We had fun riding bikes along the beach. The owner provided a notebook with accurate reviews of the local restaurants and stores. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a relaxing visit in the San Diego area.

My must do guide is to walk everywhere. There is no need to stress yourself out with the traffic that can come through Pacific Beach on Mission Beach Blvd. The many places to eat and drink within walking distance which include: Turquoise Cellars (Turquoise Cellars offers painting on Tuesday nights, register at Tipsy Palette), The Fig Tree, World Famous, JRDN (Jordan in Tower 23), The Fishery just to name some of the great restaurants. The ocean is just 3 blocks from where you are staying, so what about lounging at the beach. There are beach toys and beach chairs located at the house for your use.
For the Stressed and Overly Worked:
I highly recommend getting a massage at Inner Balance. The cost is between 45-50. It is located at 975 Hornblend Street, Suite E.
For the Adventurous:
There are also many places to rent bikes, surfboards, paddleboards. I would recommend going to Mission for surfboards and paddleboards so you can drop your board right in the water without hassle. Some of the rental companies include:
3689 Mission Blvd., San Diego
3221 Mission Blvd., San Diego
What about those of you that are looking to sail or boat?
Check out Mission Bay Aquatic Center on 1001 Santa Clara Place, San Diego
What about those of you that are looking for bike trails for your beach cruisers?
There is a path along all of Mission Bay that circles around toward Sea World and back to Mission Beach. There are also signs from the park, at the end of Law Street that route you through beautiful homes of Bird Rock and ends at La Jolla where you can shop, visit La Jolla Cove, the ocean, and even grab a bite to eat.
For those with children:
There is SeaWorld, the Zoo, LEGOLAND, the Wild Animal Park, but I have found the best playground for my Nieces and Nephews was just the beach itself.
For those hikers:
You have Torrey Pines Reserve that provide you with beautiful views of the ocean, including the Razor Point Trial and Yucca Point Trial. These are easy hikes, about an hour in duration.
Los Penasquitos Canyon - About 18 minutes. It is foru miles and easy. This trial provides for a nice, smooth stroll and hikers are treated to waterfalls, river views and great scenery. The kids will love the river and waterfalls, while parents will comfort in the safe area and wide paths.
Mount Woodson - 27.9 miles from downtown
Duration: 4.5 hours
Mount Woodson in Poway is not for the faint of heart. Beginning at the shores of Lake Poway, the trail greets hikers with a gently sloping, unpaved path, but it soon steepens and rarely shows mercy for the rest of the trek. However, from the top the views have been known to allow hikers to look over downtown, the Pacific Ocean and Mexico.
Palomar Mountain - 2.5 from San Diego
The Palomar Mountain Observatory Trail is known for its well-maintained look, spectacular beauty and awesome views. As it is in the mountains east of San Diego, hikers should be aware of rattlesnakes and mountain lions around them.
Shoppers (how can I forget shoppers):
There are great outlets in San Diego!
Carlsbad Premium Outlets
5620 Paseo Del Norte
Carlsbad, CA 92008
Las Americas Premium Outlets
4211 Camino de la Plaza
San Diego, CA 92173
Higher End Shopping:
La Jolla - Girard Avenue.
It is like shopping Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, but a little more quaint and beachy.
7020 Friars Rd., San Diego
University Town Center
4545 La Jolla Village Drive, San Diego
