Voted 'Best Vacation Home Rental in Kaweah Country - 2014', the River Villa is a three bedroom, two bathroom A-Frame house with a huge upstairs loft on 14.5 acres straddling both sides of the main fork of the Kaweah River.
If you are a guest at the River Villa between mid-May and August 1, 2016, please be aware that there may be some construction of a detached garage going on during your stay. It will be between 8am and 5pm and will only produce minimal noise. The garage is approximately 50 feet from the house, on the opposite side of the house from the riverfront.
The River Villa is riverfront and has incredible Kaweah River whitewater views as well as stunning mountain views of the High Sierra including Moro Rock, Alta Peak and Eagle's Nest. The River Villa is located approximately one mile from from the main entrance to Sequoia National Park and less than 1/4 mile from Mineral King Road which leads into the Mineral King entrance to Sequoia National Park (10 miles).
The River Villa comfortably sleeps 15 people and has numerous amenities including a fully stocked kitchen, a dining room and a living room with 55 inch HD LCD TV with Dish Network, Sirius Music channels and wireless high speed internet. Outside are a covered patio, two picnic tables for dining riverside, various chairs for relaxing, and horseshoes. The River Villa overlooks an island for much of the year (depending on the water level) and the Kaweah River whitewater rapid known as Bumper. You can swim, fish, hike and explore along our vast stretch of the Kaweah River. Due to its seclusion and location, the stargazing at night is nothing short of spectacular.
The River Villa has a large washer and dryer set, a new Kenmore ultra quiet dishwasher, high speed wifi and telephone with free local and long distance calling within the United States. Each bedroom has a queen bed, overhead ceiling fan and large exterior window (slider with screen). The loft has seven twin beds and one full (double) bed with three overhead fans.
The River Villa was built as an A-Frame vacation home in 1971 and has never been occupied as other than a vacation home. The house is a bit Retro but has new carpeting in the downstairs bedrooms, hallway, living and dining room areas. The bathrooms and kitchen also have tile and laminate wood flooring. The River Villa is not luxurious but is meant to be a relaxing and comfortable home on the river.
The River Villa is accessed via a private paved and gated drive off of Sierra Drive and the home sits away from the road and is private and secluded with no highway or road noise (just the sound of the Kaweah River).

My family originally moved to Three Rivers in 1972. I left to go to school and work in San Diego and returned in 2005 with my soon-to-be-wife Stacie. We now have 2 kids (Anna and Maverick) growing up in Three Rivers and the same Sierra Nevada mountains I came to know and love as a kid.
I own and manage two hotel properties in Three Rivers, practice law part time, serve as a volunteer Tulare County firefighter/EMT and run trail races and triathlons when not spending time with family or working.
We were fortunate to be able to purchase the River Villa - it is a comfortable house with a fantastic 14 acres right on the bend of the Kaweah River. We hope you love it as much as we do.
Robin purchased this house in 2011
Location! Location! Location! Few river properties are riverfront with large tracts of land and views of the surrounding peaks. This property has it all and is also only one mile from the Sequoia Park entrance. It sits away from the highway on a private, gated driveway so it is peaceful, quiet and safe.
We were here over the weekend (4th of july) and absolutely loved it. The property is secluded and private. It is difficult to find the drive way though ( we passed through it twice:)) maybe a bigger cone or signage???? Anyway, over all a very enjoyable stay. Robin has been helpful and patient. She respond right away with any questions and inquiries. The homemade bread was good too. The house itself is clean and very well maintained.
We had a great time staying here. The beds were comfortable, the view was beautiful and the kitchen had everything we needed!
Let me start by saying that Robin, the property owner, is incredibly responsive, helpful, and accommodating. Not only was every question answered quickly, and everything exactly as it was explained, she also left us a few housewarming items (fresh loaf of bread that was great, welcoming note, and an "in case you forgot it at home" basket).
As far as the house itself, this was the perfect choice for me and my large group of guy friends (13 total guys). The house was fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, silverware, paper towels, towels, shampoo/conditioner, soap, toilet paper, etc. The propane grill outside had plenty of propane, and all of the other appliances worked perfectly. We cooked all of our meals at the house, for 13 people, and never had any issues with finding all of the necessary kitchenware to prepare and serve our meals. The house was clean, and the 15 beds made it possible for everyone to claim their own for the weekend.
I have to say that the pictures on the site could never do justice to the beautiful landscape and property the house sits on. You have to see it for yourself to truly understand how beautiful this place really is. Snow covered mountains in the distance, a class IV white water rapid directly in front of the house, stairs down to the river, and plenty of lawn space for playing games, and patio space for relaxing, grilling, and eating outdoors. During our stay, the 13 of us took a river rafting trip down the Kaweah River, where we even passed by the house and survived the giant class IV rapid we had spent so much time admiring. All the river rafting trips depart from a mile away from this cabin, so if you are looking for a place to stay for rafting, this is a great option. A few of us also went into Sequoia and did a hike/trail run, which was also incredible. The house is just a mile outside the entrance to Sequoia, so it really is a prime location for so many activities.
Overall, this was probably my favorite weekend getaway ever, and I have had many. Admittedly, the group of people I shared it with are a large part of why the weekend was so great, but the house itself, the surrounding activities and landscape, and the hospitality of Robin enabled us to really take full advantage of what Three Rivers, CA had to offer. So thanks Robin, we will be recommending your place to our friends and I will certainly be coming back in the future!
The house was larger than we expected. The setting was wonderful, right on the river.
We toured Sequoia and Kings Canyon. It was really nice to return to the house and prepare meals and enjoy the warmth of the wood stove. The house was well kept and very comfortable.
The photos can't do justice to the beautiful river right out the back door.
Thanks Robin for all you do and for hooking us up with the wonderful cheesecake!
The Villa was everything described and fit 15 people comfortably. Robin went above and beyond with making sure our group was welcome upon arrival. Sequoia National parks entrance was only a few minutes up the road and we had a wonderful time making the trip up to visit General Sherman and play in some snow. The stairs down to the river and horseshoe pit were fun extras. We would make this location our yearly group getaway if we could!
Seven of us from work spent a "Big Chill" type weekend at the River Villa, celebrating the life of a good friend who passed away unexpectedly in December. We ate, we drank, we played games, watched movies, played guitar, you get the idea. The white noise of the river was soothing, the snow on the nearby peaks in Sequoia National Park was stunning. We enjoyed making a fire and huddling together. It was a magical weekend, and the River Villa was an awesome cabin in which to celebrate our friend.
