A long weekend right out of Michener's "Chesapeake" !

  • 5 of 5

The house was GREAT. Everything described and shown was as good as expected or better. Bikes and kayaks were a great plus - - all in good condition. We didn't use the firepit because it was 95' but we caught crabs, kayaked on the beautiful river, biked, went into town and enjoyed the spacious, clean, well-equipped and well-laid out house, yard and dock including gas grille. We're not boaters but if someone was the dock looks like it would be great. Alan was easy to communicate with. Bedrooms are spacious and clean. If you're not familiar with area, its about 20 minutes from stores and Cambridge historical attractions, so stock up on way in, except for local produce from roadside stands ( and crabs, which are there in season!). Ospreys, eagles, herons, egrets, many smaller birds commonly seen in short weekend. Recommend Blackwater NWR for nice bike ride, about 25 minutes away by car. Had a good meal at Jimmy & Sooks on Alan's recommendation. Only downer was that heat and season caused jellyfish to proliferate inshore on the channels - - these wouldn't be an issue at the nearby ocean beaches but they did limit our dockside swimming. But they were interesting to observe as well. An excellent house for a large, active group. Fishing from the dock is probably worth checking out - - we didn't because of short weekend. We'd return if the occasion presents itself. Thanks, Alan!

Relaxing Weekend !

  • 5 of 5

The home & property were outstanding. You felt as though you were in your own home, it was comfortable & relaxing. The views of the water & dock area cannot be beat. We did some crabbing & a lot of kayaking, thanks for the extra kayaks Alan. The kitchen was well stocked with pots & pans & coffee pots it was nice not having to drag those utensils on vacation. In short everyone in our group had a great time & we are thinking of making it a yearly get away. Thanks again Alan. Joe C.

Great place on the water

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from our 32nd annual old guy friends weekend and the house accommodated us twelve 60 somethings nicely. We crabbed, fished, kayaked and enjoyed the firepit and spacious deck. Plenty of outdoor furniture for the twelve of us. The dock, gas grill and kayaks were all in excellent condition. Kitchen well equipped, beds, living room furniture clean and comfortable. Nice bar in side room and a dining room table that seated 8 comfortably.

Beautiful sunrises and no biting bugs (except the flies were a bit of a nusiance). The crew voted to rent this place again in the future - which is a resounding recommendation from these old curmudgeons.

The owner was easy to reach and responded to our inquiry promptly.

Calgon took us away!!

  • 5 of 5

The property was just gorgeous. The tranquil view was simply amazing. The deck was so spacious and the dock inviting. Our family enjoyed fishing and crabbing off the dock. Our kids loved the kayaks. We truly enjoyed the firepit in the evenings - making s'more and roasting oysters. The house is way bigger than the pictures show. We will definitely be vacationing here again and again!!

Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The owner is very responsive and accommodating. We had no issues with our rental, but had some questions and we got prompt responses before, during and after the rental.

The house is very comfortable. My 80+ year old father had no issues considering his limited mobility due to age and joint issues.

As others have stated, there are plenty of the staples you usually dread having to supply for such short stays.

It is a very quiet place with lots of wildlife.

Don't pass this gem up if you get the opportunity to rent it.

Beautiful home and excellent communication with owner

  • 5 of 5

This property is amazing. It was more than what we expected. It is located at the end of a cul-de-sac. We had 8 adults and 3 children and there was plenty of space for us to lounge around. The house feels much bigger and nicer than the pictures. It is also very clean. The owner had a lot of household supplies that were available in the house for us to use which most vrbo homes do not provide. eg. toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, dish washing liquid. For the children, there were bins of toys for them to play with. They also went out on the kayaks. They were in great condition. We paddle almost every day. In the evening, we started the fire pit and sat around to make smores! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
