This secluded 3 Bedroom 1800 square foot “contemporary cabin” and future Bed & Breakfast is nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains on 21 acres adjacent to Veritas Vineyard. There is a two-car garage and each bedroom touts a mountain view as well as direct access to one of two decks. The beautiful pastoral property is separated from the world with shelter from the sounds and sights of civilization and yet is incredibly convenient to a plethora of wineries and breweries, an upcoming distillery, dining, agri-tourism, hiking, biking, skiing, golf, and rock climbing.
With a wooded ridge, two creeks, an orchard, hammocks, and a private hiking trail being blazed on the property, it is the perfect get-away for nature, outdoor recreation, and relaxation enthusiasts alike. If you are looking for even more space to explore, head 3.5 miles up the ridge to the intersection of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian trail at the South entrance of Shenandoah National Park.
We are well along in renovating this home into a Bed & Breakfast which will open this winter (Google Ridgeside Bed and Breakfast to find our Blog and Facebook page!) with only a few remaining repairs to go and many newly completed areas that are modern, stylish, and comfortable (see pictures). Note that we sometimes stay on the property in a totally separated basement suit (the innkeepers quarters) so it's possible that you might see us working in the woods or on the property during your stay. There are plenty of places to sit and relax and each bedroom has a brand new Serta queen bed with a double bed pull-out couch in the great room. Each bedroom now has it's own newly renovated bathroom and we recently completed hardwood floor installation throughout the house.
The recently renovated kitchen has granite countertops, two convection ovens, 5 burner glass-top range, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave with plenty of pans, dishes, and utensils available for your use. It sits in a large great room with seating, beautiful views of the property, and a full-sized dinner table that seats up to 8. If you're not in the mood to cook, drive less than 3 miles to Blue Mountain Brewery, try another area restaurant, or order pizza from Chirio’s (they deliver)!
In addition to what Nelson county has to offer, driving 25 minutes east to Charlottesville provides access to dining, shopping, wineries and breweries, and one of the most historically rich towns in Virginia. 30 minutes in the opposite direction is Staunton where you can find the American Shakespeare Center, the frontier culture museum, historic downtown, and yet more wineries.
Housekeeping and other notes: Please feel free to use the washer and drier as well as the other appliances. We try to keep soaps and paper goods stocked but it's not a bad idea to be prepared with your own in case you or the guest before you has finished up the supply. There is no TV, cable, or WiFi at the property, so prepare to be temporarily separated from the world. Pillows, pillow cases, sheets, and blankets are provided but towels and toiletries are not provided- please plan to bring your own.
Thanks and we hope that you choose to enjoy our property!

Our family of 6 rented this home for a birthday trip weekend. Although we spent little time at the rental we found it a perfect arrangement for our family. It was very clean and exactly as described. The owners live downstairs and were very accommodating and responsive to questions. We would definitely consider renting again. It would be advisable to arrive during daylight hours as it is located in a rural area and a little difficult to find at night.
We had a great time at this property! Kids loved exploring outside! We had plenty of room inside too! Beds were very comfortable and bathrooms are very nice! Large kitchen and living area! Hosts were easy to work and communicate with! Great location! Would definitely return! Thx!
This is a really great property, literally right next door to a winery. Very short drive from a great brewery as well. The property has a huge grass area and creek to walk around, have a picnic, play football, etc. The houses itself is being upgraded I believe, and the one area for improvement I'd note is the quality of beds. The mattresses weren't particularly comfortable. But I'd imagine that's something they will upgrade soon.
This was exactly what we were looking for. Secluded yet close to wineries and restaurants. The kitchen space was amazing, especially since there is a fantastic farmer's market about 15 minutes away in Nellysford. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor space, so our large group was accommodated comfortably. We hope to stay there again next year!
We absolutely loved staying at this quiet, beautiful property. The house was perfect for our needs, we were able to bring our dogs (who loved the large property for running around) and the location was perfect! The house was definitely in the midst of being fixed up, just like the description said, but even so, it was still comfortable, clean, and a great place to relax with our family. To be honest we were all a little concerned that there was no tv, not even for movie watching, but once we got there, we loved not having that distraction! There were plenty of great games for us to play, and just exploring the area and spending time together made this one of the best vacations we have had. We will definitely be back and can't wait to see how the owner's fix up the rest of the house! The areas that had been completed were gorgeous!
