The location is perfect. We had 6 people in our party 1 couple the rest single. The upstairs rooms have AC so they stay nice and cool. Downstairs can get a bit warm at times but we were out an about most of the time so it was bearable. It took a few days for us to get in touch with someone to get the gate code but we just called to security to get in without it. We had to call maintenance when a fuse blew and they came right away and reset the breaker. The "adult" pool had a ton of kids but was nice being right on the water. It was relaxing walking along the beach at low tide and watching the surfers in the morning. It was close to the shopping on Front street as well as Safeway. (side note) Keep the drain plug in the sink otherwise you might have unwelcome critters. The place was clean and having a washer and dryer was nice. The property grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There were some beach toys in the townhouse, they were nice to have and we added ours to that when left. I would definitely stay there again.
Six of us (5 adults and 1 child) stayed for 5 nights in March 2016. There are 3 floors and many beds to choose from. My sister and her husband shared the main room, which has an attached bathroom. Their young son stayed with them. My aunt and her husband used the second bedroom which has a bathroom right outside. Both of these rooms were on the second floor. The third floor had two single beds which were outfitted for children, however, I found them to be fine for someone of my height (I am 5'9"). There were A/C units in each bedroom, the loft and the stairwell. Despite being in the mid-80s while we were there the condo remained comfortable. There is a final bed, a Murphy bed, in the living room. However, it was lumpy so nobody wanted to sleep on it. There is also a bathroom on the first floor which includes a shower stall and a washer/dryer.
The kitchen was great to have. We made breakfast every day. It is large enough for several people to be working together in the same space, and had all the necessary utensils and cooking items for the basics. The living room and dining area was very comfortable and we often hung out there or the patio which is on the ground floor. The patio spilled onto the lawn and there is even a glimpse of the ocean which is not far away.
While we were there we found several beach umbrellas, beach mats and a boogie board with which to play. This was unexpected, and a very nice touch. We felt comfortable and right at home.
Puamana 48-2 was far enough away from the road that the sounds of traffic were not a problem. The Puamana property itself felt very safe. It was a mile or so in to the main part of town, and we enjoyed the walk on several occasions. Driving was not an issue either, and we all liked the location very much.
The property was dumpy. The cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom were beat up. The showers looked moldy around the outside. There were a lot of towels, but they were thin and worn. I'm sure they've been used for years. There wasn't a pan to make breakfast, so my husband had to buy one for $20.
The sectional in the living room was stained. Don't even want to think about that. Air-conditioning was minimal, panels on windows didn't close, so there was no privacy. I understand that you get what you pay for, but I have seen other properties at Puamana not much more than we paid that were a lot nicer.
This has taught me to be extremely careful in the future when renting a VRBO.
