Cozy, Comfortable Adirondack 4-season Cottage on 100 acres.
About George Halloran
We are a family of builders and designers, who have enjoyed paying attention to details while upgrading properties in NYS and Florida over the past 40 years. We built our own home nearby that we use mostly in Summer but from time to time in all seasons. Our youngest daughter was married on the riverbank above Minerva Stream a few years back, and the reception was at our house. Our ancestors came to the area in the mid-1800s and many family members, now scattered across the country, still return for visits or family reunions.
George Halloran purchased this Cottage in 2001
Why George Halloran chose Olmstedville
It is beautiful and comfortable inside, no matter what the weather may be. Outside, you know you are in the Adirondacks where explorers, naturalists, woodsmen and travelers have enjoyed the beauty and solitude for hundreds of years. Yet you are on a paved road a short drive from anything that catches your fancy. We bought this 100-acre parcel because it adjoined our land, and because the former owners were family friends for generations. Marcia and I trimmed Christmas Trees on the O'Connor property, grew potatoes commercially (mom and pop style) on bottomland nearby, and raised bees that produced plenty of sweet honey from wetland flowers. We have visited the waterfall and paddled the stream for 65 years (some of us) and our children and grandchildren are on the same track.
What makes this Cottage unique
Your own waterfall in the back yard. Private access to Minerva Stream for canoeing and kayaking. A delightful cabin with wood interior finishes and an accent on the Adirondacks where you can just plain relax. If you are here during harvest time and we have a garden going, you are welcome to pick fresh organic corn or beans, or dig a few potatoes for your dinner.

True Adirondack Camp
Had a great stay. The property is comfortable and has everything you could want. Beautiful views. Very easy to do business with the owners.
Winder Weekend Getaway ...
This place was so nice! It was perfect for the group. The property offered all the comforts but still gave you the rustic cabin style. Very well kept! We will look to rent again!
Cabin in the woods
If you just drove by this property it probably would not cause you to look twice but the interior is pristine in a rustic way. Everything inside is new or very recent except those things which are meant to look old or distressed such as certain furnishings. The result is a cozy rustic feel of an old cabin but with what would appear to be recently renovated creature comforts such as bathroom, kitchen master bedroom etc. We rented this as a base to ski Gore mountain but there is a great deal more to do there if you enjoy outdoor pursuits such as hiking. Regrettably out length of stay did not allow for hiking but I will definitely be back for a longer stay. Owner is easy to talk to if you have questions.
We will keep coming back.
Beautiful rustic cabin. Very clean and comfortable. Lots of hot water!
North Creek for dining and rafting. Pottersville for caves. Minerva Lake or Schroon Lake for swimming. Golf in Warrensburg, Schroon Lake, Town of Chester, Newcomb, etc. Ausable Chasm, Whiteface Mountain, High Peaks area, many good hikes - I recommend Crane Mountain in Johnsburg - best view for the effort.
