Why Chuck Quiney chose Northern Michigan

Great for family or groups of couples. Since this is the first year we have offered the property for vacation rentals. It is important for us to provide a great rate with great accomodations and service to encourage our guest to return.

What makes this house unique

The back deck has a panaramic view to the north east and offers a great campfire pit for night time views unhindered by buildings. The fishing is excellent just off shore. Accessible with just a row boat.

Great Time

  • 5 of 5

I booked this cottage at the last minute as a weekend getaway for myself, my husband, our toddler, and the family dogs. We had a great time! The cottage was well appointed with more than enough room for my zoo. We especially loved the sleeping loft and the unexpected rocking chair up there! It was too cold to use the lake but the outside looked like it would work well too. We found the owner to be very prompt in communication and would stay here again.

Wonderful cottage with a beautiful view of the Lake!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. We rented after Labor Day, so it felt as if we had the lake to ourselves. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. Jeff, the property caretaker, visited daily to check on us. The only drawback was the very busy road at the front side of the cottage. During the busy summer season, this would have been a negative, but since Houghton Lake was very slow, it didn't bother us too much!

Perfect Vacation Property

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to find the house was clean and had no issues gaining access.

The house is directly on the lake with a small beach and ~50 foot dock. The lake is perfect for small kids. Our 5 year old son was able to walk about 500 feet from shore and water barely made it up to his chest.

There is a Walmart about 5 minutes from the house and a small party store across the street if you need anything. The only things that we needed to buy was food. All linens and utensils were provided. There is a small propane grill that we used a few nights.

There is a small fire pit available on the beach and a few lawn chairs to sit around the fire.

We enjoyed the week that we stayed at the house and plan to return next year.

Well worth the cost

  • 4 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful time. I have 3 granddaughters 5 & 6 years old and they had a blast in the water. It is very shallow so we felt safe having them play in there. The cottage is exactly as shown. The owner and Jeff the maintenance caretaker were very nice and very willing to help make our vacation as nice as possible. The kitchen and bath are small but the rest of the cottage is quite roomy. The view is gorgeous and we were so lucky to have sunny days the entire time we were there. This was well worth the cost and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, stressless vacation. I take one star off because of being so close to the highway.

Nice cabin in the lake

  • 4 of 5

We had a very nice vacation here. My kids loved the nice sandy beach area and the loft upstairs. Great views of the lake. The lake was very calm and not a lot of people on it during the week. The caretaker Jeff was extremely helpful with anything we needed.
