Poplar Lake Lodge is a very secluded 4000 FT. lodge with a large stocked privately owned lake in Upper Michigan. Fish include Northern, Muskie, Large Mouth, Crappie and plenty of pan fish. Boats and trolling motor included, also wifi internet and Direct TV with led tv. We are centrally located in the Hiawatha National Forest in the middle of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan between Lake Michigan and Lake Superior in Delta County. With no permanent residents for miles and a private driveway 2.5 miles long and a locked gate 1/2 mile from lodge if peace and quiet and seclusion is what you are looking for Poplar Lake Sporting lodge is the place for you. Fifteen miles north of Little Bay De Noc and Rapid River, the closet town which is a 35 minute trip due to the windy roads.
I was born in Chicago and came up to the U.P. with my dad to this location during the summer. My dad died in 1974 and I continued to enjoy the U.P. In 1990 I moved up with my family and built a 4000 sq. ft. house. After 2 years my wife moved back to Chicago and I stayed. I then opened the property up for guests during the summer and have done so ever since.
Charlie purchased this lodge in 1965
This is one of the largest privately stocked lakes( no license required) and the most secluded location in the U.P. of Michigan with most of the conveniences of home.

"Second year here...can hardly wait until 2014 stay"
What I like best about this bit of paradise is the getting away from life's hectic pace. Charlie & Dar welcome me back like family & are fantastic hosts.
I learned some new things last year. It is not far from Pictured Rocks and that makes for a great day trip. Want to try a tour of Grand Island in 2014.
After a day out, it is great to come back to peace and quiet...
Love hiking with the dogs and enjoying the beauty around. While it is hard to leave, I know I will always return to watch the sun rise over the water while enjoying a great cup of coffee!

We were looking for a place in the U.P of Michigan that was both secluded and in the National Forest. This place is exactly what we were looking for. Fall colors going into the lodge were fantastic. The driveway is a long dirt road very assessable as long as you do not have a low profile sports car. The fishing and the weather were great. we will be back next year.
With no other hunters for miles and a lodge with every accommodation you can think of, this was a great place to stay. The problem we had (no fault of the location) was the warm temperatures and the deer not moving. We had 40 and 50 degree days all week with no snow. We did manage to see some doe but no bucks and the 3 of us were hoping to get enough snow for some deer migration. I guess you can’t control mother nature.
Returning again for our 2nd year in 2017. We had a great time and enjoyed the solitude and plenty for everyone to do. We like to fish and had good luck with the northern and the large mouth bass, also caught a few crappie. Nice size large mouth bass and crappie's. The only regret of the whole trip is that we were hoping to hook into one of the muskies but no luck. Maybe next year. Charlie showed the kid's how to catch the small pan fish off the end of the dock and we used them for bait for the bigger fish. All in all a great trip and would recommend it to anyone who wants remoteness and seclusion.
to start out that 20 min drive to rapid river is a 40 min drive. better have a pickup or suv to go down the driveway. first couple days everyone woke up with headaches and figured out it was the propane lights causing it. place needs to be remodeled. refridgerators are old and to small to hold all your food needed to keep food in coolers. the only thing that was true was it is secluded and the view from the screened in porch was nice
Hard to describe, Never knew there was a place this secluded and private in upper michigan. Located in the middle of the Hiawatha National Forest no other people, and your own lake and boats. We had a family reunion and I was not the one to pick the place out but I will be going back next year. We had fire works and evening bonfires and did not need to worry about any neighbors. Just remember it is a long trip to town if you want milk or eggs. Driveway is dirt and 2.5 miles and 35 minutes to town. The type of seclusion we wanted. Awesome
Overall nice area , secluded, but the beds need to be replaced , it could of been cleaned better with actuall cleaning products, nice beds and clean toilets , could not smell any cleaning products when we arrived , priced about 800-1000 to high to other comparable properties, I didn't mind the work that went along with keeping power up because I'm a little restless , not for the lazy at heart.

This is one of the most secluded spots in the upper peninsula of Michigan. We are surrounded on three sides for miles by Hiawatha National Forest. Are entire property is thick mature woods. Our private stocked lake (Northern, Muskie, Large Mouth, Crappie, Perch and other pan fish) is only available to our family and guests. We also have a 70 foot dock great for fishing from. We have a 21/2 mile private drive. Plenty of wild life (deer, bear, birds and much more.) 2 swans that make our lake there home each year. We have the Grand Isle trail which crosses our road which is a non motorized trail which goes from Lake Michigan to Lake Superior. Pictured Rocks in Munising and Little Bay De Noc on Lake Michigan and Lake Superior are all must see attractions within less then 1 hour. We also have 4 casinos and 4 golf courses within a 1 hour drive. If you want seclusion and privacy where no one will bother you. This is the place.
