This property has been designated as a Historic Landmark by the City of Glen Rose, Texas. Situated on a half-acre elevated bluff, 15 feet above the meandering Paluxy River, this Glen Rose hideaway is just blocks from many of this charming little town's favorite attractions, yet secluded enough to just hunker down, relax and recharge! The house was built in the early 1950's on the site of the Grisham Pool, the first "cement swimming hole" in Glen Rose. The sides of the original pool are still there and now form the sides of the driveway.
This recently-renovated (2013) hideaway features all of the charm of an original 1950s single-story ranch style home, made over in comfortable, casual cottage-style. The home includes all the new must-have technical conveniences including Wifi, HD Smart TVs with satellite TV, Hulu Plus account access plus a Blu-Ray DVD player and finished it off with a nice on-site library of DVDs for all to enjoy.
There's even an 8 ft picnic-table for your outdoor feasts and comfy chairs in the newly added, bug-free screened-in back porch which enjoys a view of the Paluxy River and tree tops from its lofty perch. If it is family time, there is a special area for board-game challenges! You definitely won't run out of things to do. Or, you can choose to do nothing and return home relaxed, recharged and refreshed.
The kitchen is fully equipped with brand new appliances (2013), flatware and table setting for twelve. A full complement of pots, pans, cooking utensils and more is ready for your use. The two renovated bedrooms feature new mattresses (purchased in November 2013); a King-sized bed in the Master Bedroom and a Queen-sized bed in the guest bedroom. Both bathrooms have also been recently remodeled, keeping a few key elements of the past (see the black and pink master-bath!) while updating all the fixtures. The views from the home are wonderful and relaxing. A recently completed 20 ft wall of windows looks out on trees, plants and the Paluxy River across the street. A full laundry (washer and dryer, ironing board and iron) is on-site if you want to return home with all clean clothes!
Two blocks west of the home is the historic downtown Glen Rose square anchored by the Courthouse and surrounded with two museums, two art galleries, shopping, dining (including the best pies in the state - really!) and even foods sold farm fresh from local growers. Two blocks east home is the popular Big Rocks Park where, during summer, the Paluxy River is ready for you to enjoy whether you are splashing, fishing or just relaxing. Or, take the concrete footbridge and walk safely across the Paluxy River to historic Heritage Park where homes of the original Glen Rose are on display for all to see and enjoy. On the opposite side of the street from Big Rocks Park is Glen Rose's own Oakdale Park, home of the free Bluegrass Jam music-fest! Come enjoy great Bluegrass music - search online for their schedule of events. If your stay includes the kids, we're centrally located for major local attractions like Fossil Rim, Dinosaur World and Dinosaur State Park. Each are just a few miles away by car. This home can be the perfect base-camp for your relaxing weekend away in the historic town of Glen Rose!

We enjoyed the quiet serenity and accommodations. Thoughtfully appointed. Well stocked kitchen with snacks and drinks. Very welcoming.
This is an awesome rental near downtown Glen Rose. Everything (and I mean everything) was perfect. Well stocked kitchen. Meticulously clean rooms. Easy to get in and out of front door. Adequate parking. We absolutely loved the swimming pool driveway. Close to the quaint downtown area. We hated to leave the house as it was so comfortable and homey feeling. We will definitely be back!
We had a girls' weekend. The house was perfect, adorable and comfy. Everything we needed was there. Owners left info on local eateries, events and attractions. Loved Glenrose and Granbury. Recommend.
My wife and I have rented many properties around the world and are quite discriminating when it comes to spending money on vacation rentals. Comfort, cleanliness, convenience and service quality are critical for us when choosing a location for a brief weekend or long-term vacation.
To this point, we searched for a cute place that would accommodate us and another couple over the 2016 Labor Day weekend. Our search radius was a four hour drive from the DFW Metroplex. Fortunately, we came across this wonderful property in quaint Glen Rose.
To say that the property exceed our expectations would be an understatement. The superb experience began well before our arrival in Glen Rose. The owners were gracious enough to forward us documentation regarding the operations of the house, favorite restaurants, and many sights and activities in the area. The documentation (alone) was more comprehensive than I've seen from any other property owner.
In addition to great documentation, was a wonderfully decorated, pristine property that was perfect for the two couples. Upon arrival, we surveyed the property and couldn't believe how well stocked it was. From kitchen utensils, to chilled drinks in the refrigerator and bath linens galore, the house was better stocked than any property that we've rented. Beyond being extraordinarily stocked, the house was immaculate.
So, needless to say, we're big fans of the property and will look forward to this new find in the near future!
Pros: Its a very cute house with comfortable furniture, lots of light and charm. The owner was wonderfully responsive and very proactive in providing all the toiletries and amenities of home. Great attention to detail in the design of the house that was carried through all the way to them providing a full guide to the area of entertainment and dining etc. The front door has an electric lock using a code which was so much more convenient that keeping track of a key. Overall a great experience.
Cons: Something not against the house but just the area- Glen Rose is a bit desert like with sticker bushes all over the place. Anytime you come in from outside we would have stickers in our pants and they found their way into clothing and towels and such. The west bedroom has the utility closet in the hallway so that bedroom was a bit warmer as was the bathroom off the hallway. Not the bedroom to choose if you prefer to be colder while you sleep but the other bedroom was great.
We had a great time in Glen Rose. The house was everything that was promised. It was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely recommend it to others and would also stay again.
