What a lovely home!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had the opportunity to visit Maine this fall and wasn't absolutely sure where we wanted to stay, but most of the hotels seemed to be located in "touristy" areas. I discovered this listing on VRBO and it worked out REALLY nicely for us. It's about a 15-20 min drive (at most) from the north entrance onto Mt. Desert Island and away from all the bustle associated with it. The home was immaculate and well appointed; we didn't find anything we needed that wasn't there. We didn't have any issues with the property, so can't state how responsive the owners might be to problems that might arise (even better!). However, before our arrival, any questions we had were answered promptly. If we get a chance to return to the area, we would definitely check availability of this home first.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful vacation located for enjoying activities in and around Arcadia National Park. Only 20 to 24 minutes away from the park and Bar Harbor. The vacation house was the best. Nicely furnished, designed, and comfortable describe the property. . Best was looking out the front window/deck overlooking Desert Island.

Awesomeness in Maine!

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic! We loved everything about our vacation at your beautiful place over looking Frenchman's Bay. It was perfect for us to relax in comfort while admiring gorgeous views from the large deck or inside. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor is an easy 30-40 minute drive. Also, don't miss breathtaking Schoodic Point Peninsula just up the road (part of Acadia park system). Good local seafood as close as the end of the lane at Tracey's Lobster Pound. Tracey's has a delicious 2-fer Lobster Roll dinner. If time, don't miss Beal Island working fishing village and eat at the Take Out restaurant. If you like traditional fried seafood, you wont be disappointed. The owner was very accommodating and easy to work with. Our wonderful week flew by! We would definitely recommend this wonderful chalet style cabin to anyone wanting a quiet Maine vacation not far from all the action. We are already planning our next visit!

Small Note: If you have breathing problems like COPD or asthma, this wonderful place isn't air conditioned. Although the lovely breeze off the bay and ceiling fans keep you very comfortable, the night air can be damp when windows are open. Don't forget your meds and you should be ok. We were. :)

Can I Keep This Property a Secret??!! ;-)

  • 5 of 5

A gorgeous place, immaculate and beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches throughout... And, the grounds are lovely as well. I booked a week at this chalet for a Maine vacation with my Mom, who had not been back to this area in more than 20 years. This was a fabulous find! Very quiet and private, and a great place for both of us to decompress after a year of family chaos. Yet, close enough to all the area attractions that we were never bored. We covered a lot of ground during our week's stay -- including Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Schoodic Peninsula, the Roosevelt Campobello International Park in New Brunswick (bring your passport!!), Asticou Terraces and Thula Gardens, the Penobscot Marine Museum, and many other random stops for (a) breathtakingly beautiful scenery, or (b) fun local gift shops! We also ate lots of yummy seafood, including lobster, clams, and mussels. Heaven! And the views from the deck every morning and evening were spectacular. Only sorry that I did not book this for 2 (!!) weeks.

Excellent accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the almost new, private location overlooking Frenchman's Bay. The kitchen was nicely stocked and equipped with the latest appliances. There was a large deck and kayaks were included with this rental. There were good restaurants and lobster pounds nearby. We would definitely recommend this home away.

Exactly as promised!!! BEAUTIFUL

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of spending our 2013 summer vacation in this amazing house. The owners have done a great job of decorating and having all the comforts of home and vacation here. The location was perfect for sight-seeing (Schoodic Point, Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain all were within 45 minutes away), the ocean-view was beautiful!! My 13 year old son and his friend were with us and they loved the kayaks and paddle boat. They never did catch any fish but that was probably because they weren't used to fishing in the ocean. All in all a wonderful vacation house!!
