This Original Adirondack Great Camp built in the 1920's is truly special. Only 40ft from the shore of Lake George , famous for its crystal clear waters, this house has all the elements for a wonderful vacation. On the water is a large U-shaped dock, filled with colorful Adirondack chairs and a swim platform moored out in the deeper water. Room to accommodate 1 or 2 boats with canoe there for your use. Steps from the dock, is a rustic outdoor fireplace, perfect for cocktails, star gazing and making s'mores! Large (48") DCS gas grill with picnic table outside kitchen door. Wrap around deck with cedar twig railings has the most comfortable seating and breathtaking views of the lake and mountains. Great Room with 35 ft ceilings and original stone fireplace. Gorgeous large antler chandelier comfy furniture, direct TV. Kitchen renovated in the spring of 2015 with all stainless appliances and soapstone counter tops.
We have put lots of work into finishing the basement with reclaimed barn wood as you can see from the photo. There are 2 windows on either side of the mounted deer that look out onto the lake. Work will be completed in the spring of 2017 making this one of the best "man cave's" on the lake!
Our family has been vacationing on Lake George for close to 20 years. As the family has expanded, so have our lake accommodations. Last year we stayed at the Grueter's for the first time (but definitely not the last) and we can't say enough positive about the experience. It is an older property; BUT it has been very well cared for. From the well equipped kitchen to the expansive porch to the dock complex to the location - everything is fabulous. Privacy. Gorgeous sunsets. Highly recommended!
I have stayed in many different Lake George west shore vacation venues since the 1950’s, most recently six summers at a house in Hague with kids and grandkids. When the owner of the Hague house said he needed my week for his family, I started looking on Home Away and found Joe’s house which described everything we’d need for a clan of 12 people. It’s located on the northeast shore of Lake George right below the picturesque mountain known as Anthony’s Nose (a great hike to a spectacular view). We spent the last week in July, 2016 at Joe’s home and it was completely as advertised. It’s the perfect house for a large family group. We rented both the main house and the cottage which is about 100 feet uphill from the main house. The parking for our 4 SUVs was ample and close to the main house. 8 of us very comfortably fit in the main house and my youngest son, his wife and two boys aged 7 and 9 took the 2-bedroom cottage which is air-conditioned and has a living room, kitchen and porch. They had breakfast in the cottage each morning and of course spent the rest of the day with us in the main house and grounds. The inside of the main house easily accommodated 4 adults and 4 children. The furniture throughout is casual comfortable, the modern kitchen and dining area are modern and spacious, easily seating 12 of us. The main living room is huge with a very large wide screen TV and very reliable WiFi. The main house has a full-size pool table and ping pong table. We rented a 21' ski boat that easily fit into the large U shaped dock. The grandkids loved swimming to the floating dock. Outside the kitchen is a pro size gas grill to cook your steaks and burgers. There is great veranda style porch on the back of the main house overlooking the dock and lake. Near the dock area is a huge stone fireplace for roasting marshmallows after dinner. Everything is squeaky clean!
