Looking for something unique at a budget price? Something other than the high rise resort condo or villa stuffed between rows of others?Maybe a little off the beaten path? How about a private, beachfront villa compound, consisting of 4 individual tropical living units, situated on 2.5 acres of manicured gardens, just steps away from over 300 feet of your own personal beach? Casa Escondida is located a short 20 mile drive up the coastal highway, north of Ixtapa, in the village of Troncones, and is a tropical oasis of tranquility, Olde Mexico charm, and striking beauty. Our landscaped gardens surround 4 separate units, all leading to our private pool, where you are literally steps from the beach. If you are a group of 2 or 20, desire to rent the entire property or any portion, you will find our home away from your home a truly unique experience.
Casa Escondida's main house has 2 master bedrooms, each with a full, private bath, full kitchen and large open air space for dining (table for 10), as well as a living room area with reading nooks and ample space for visiting and relaxing. 2 free standing casitas offer king size beds, full private baths, large closets, and open air kitchenettes. Our 2 bedroom apartment offers a king bed in each, full private bath, and kitchen. The apartment sits atop a raised foundation, surrounded by towering palms, providing a tree house feel. Each unit has ceiling fans, and since each unit also has its own bathroom and shower facilities, there is no hardship/inconvenience presented if you choose not to occupy the entire property.
Our 'Hidden House' is staffed during the week days by a husband and wife team who are lifetime residents of troncones. They tend to the gardens, pool, provide light housekeeping, bi-weekly linen changes, and maintenance. Traditional, local meals can be arranged on an individual basis through our property manager, a U.S. citizen living in Troncones.
Troncones village is truly a step into Olde Mexico, with numerous family restaurants along the beach, a health and yoga facility 200 yards down the beach, overlooking the breaking surf. The Troncones beach area offers some of the most desirable surfing in Mexico, including Troncones Point, La Saladita, the Ranch, and Boca, all very near the village. Troncones beach was a Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition site in 2005, and with over 300 days annually of sunshine, the perfect spot for you and your guests and family. Local surf shops can arrange equipment, schedule lessons, and make reservations for tours or zip line adventures through the tropical jungle. The local Vacqueros are available for a sunset horse back ride along the surf, and Troncones offers outstanding Pacific coast fishing, including assistance from local guides.
OR.... maybe you simply want to sit under a palm tree sipping a tropical concoction of your choice and read. The sights, sounds, and scents of the sea, meshed with the rays of the sun and the roar of the surf, will calm even the most ambitious traveler. Come down to Casa Escondida and enjoy the vacation of a lifetime. You'll be glad you did, and will immediately begin planning for a return trip!
Dave and Donna Kinard are managing partners, and part of a group of friends that purchased Casa Escondida in 1999. We are snowbirds, residing part of the year in Franktown, Colorado (just south of Denver), and the balance of the year in Glendale, Arizona.

We chose to become owners to provide a vacation destination where we could bring our family and friends, to a village on the ocean, inhabited by farmers, ranchers, fisherman, and artists, providing some of the most stunning sunsets possible.
Casa Escondida is a little oasis, constructed on 4 beachfront lots, providing all guests the opportunity to mingle with other guests, or relax in the privacy of their own space. Our husband and wife caretaker team are 2 of the nicest, most talented, resourceful people you'll ever meet, and the grounds are beautiful and tranquil. We value the commitment the community has made to saving endangered sea turtles. We have visited so many times that we've become familiar with restaurant staff, shop owners, and residents, and always feel welcome.
We took out parents and extended family to Troncones for their 50th wedding anniversary (11 people). We rented the entire facility of Casa Escondida and couldnt be happier with our choice to do so. We were greeted by the manager of the property (Ernesto) and he promptly gave us a tour and welcomed us to our home for the next 8 days. Ernesto was more than accommodating with getting the fish truck and fruit truck to stop by the Casa. He also was knowledgeable regarding activities in the area.
I recommend this property with high regards to anyone who is interested in staying in Troncones and getting away from the wristbanders that stay in Gringoville (Ixtapa).
My husband & I loved the location and setting here. We thought it was the best place in Troncones and the couple that tended the grounds and housekeeping soon became our friends. Both they and Ernesto, the on site manager, were very helpful arranging activities for us. We really enjoyed playing in the surf right in front of our place. We felt that it was the best place to stay in all of Troncones and enjoyed the convenience of being within walking distance of a couple stores and several restaurants if you didn't choose to cook at home. Overall, we totally loved Casa Escondida and are looking forward to returning!! Dave Kinard was a pleasure to book it with too!
Troncones is considered the 'real Mexico' if you want a visit without expensive tourist traps and high pressure tour operators. Troncones is a small village by the sea known for comfort and tranquility, once a small fishing village now home to beautiful, sandy beaches, where the release of protected baby sea turtles is an almost daily phenomon.Troncones is nestled between the Sierra Madre mountain range and the Mexican Riviera, about 280 kms north of Acapulco. It's just about 35 kms, or a 25 minute drive from the resort town of Ixtapa, and the old but beautiful seaport of Zihuatanejo. The Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa International airport, where transportation is readily available, is a 30 minute drive from Troncones.
