This is an adorable and fully independent stand alone apartment above a non-used garage (so there are a few steps to get up to it). There are trees all around it. Looking out the numerous windows one gets the feeling of living in a nest like a bird. There are several active bird nests in Spring and Summer right outside on the porches. It's one block off famous Mt. Vernon Street and the Victorian homes. Senator Highway (the main road out to the Bradshaw mountains and the pines) is right down the same street. It's an easy 5-10 minute walk to historical downtown Prescott and all its fun activities, music, coffee shops, antique shops, restaurants and bars.
The owwner has lived in Prescott 40 years and lives in the main house up front right on Goodwin street. She is available to meet any needs you might have and answer just about any questions about the area. She is also dog friendly and there's an area for a dog to do his business as well. It is located in a residential/rental neighborhood known as the Joslin/Whipple Historical district. The main house is a little cottage bungalow style built in about 1924 and she added this little stand alone apartment about 5 years ago.

I am a nurse in Prescott and work part time at the local hospital, YRMC. I have one dog and one cat and have lived in Prescott since 1974 when I graduated from high school. I'd spent summers up here as a kid in Groom Creek since I was about 11 years old. My sister and her husband rent our old family cabin in Groom Creek out through VRBO, also.
Beth Olmstead purchased this apartment in 2004
I personally love living in the heart of historical downtown Prescott and never tire of my leisurely strolls to the courthouse area for early AM coffee, or to listen to one of the many summer concerts on 'the square' or at a local music hotspot. I've traveled a bit in my time and have never found a place I'd rather live. Great year round relaxing and good clean fun.
Just wanted to let you know how much my husband and I enjoyed the Bird Nest Hideaway. We were very comfortable and literally felt 'at home.' We also fell in love with Prescott and would like to visit again and when we do, we'll be sure to stay at the Bird Nest Hideaway. Once again, thank you.
We absolutely enjoyed staying at the Birds Nest. It was clean, well kept and had everything that we could have wanted to make our stay comfortable. We really liked the quaint relaxing deck too. Thank you Beth. We will definitely be back here to stay.
This sweet apartment felt more like a stand-alone house! It was very private, spotless, and tastefully decorated. Beth thought of everything, down to the smallest detail. The bed was VERY comfortable, which was very important since my husband has back problems. My son stayed with us one night on the sofa sleeper, and said it was also comfortable. We hope to rent it again sometime!
The Bird Nest is immaculate and close to town. Very private comfortable with two nice decks for relaxing.
Beth has thought of everything and is a great host.
Comfortable, relaxing and everything a couple needs to enjoy what Prescott has to offer. Beth is a helpful and congenial host. We look forward to staying at the Bird Nest again in the future.
The Bird's Nest Hideaway is a private condo/apt near downtown Prescott. Beth, who rents the space, as a sweet local woman who has put a great amount of thought and detail into this rental. This is like a vacation home - fully equipped kitchen (cookware, silverware, plateware, etc), relaxing patio, charming environment, fireplace, and a generally pleasant atmosphere to stay in. For the same price (or less) as most hotels in the area, I highly recommend the Bird's Nest Hideaway for your next stay in Prescott (if it is available). You will not regret it!
We stayed at the Bird Nest Hideaway from April 18-20 and had a great experience! The apartment was exactly as advertised and proved to be a very comfortable and quiet. It was a reasonably short walk down the hill on Goodwin St. to get to the town square and Whiskey Row, so we were able to essentially park our car and walk all weekend (just remember the walk back up the hill requires a bit more effort). The property is convenient to a grocery store, restaurants, bars, and boutiques, so there are plenty of things to do without traveling far. Outdoor activities are available within a short drive as well. I recommend El Gato Azul for awesome tapas, Prescott Station for a great meal, and The Point for cocktails with a great 1920s speakeasy vibe.
The flat screen TV with cable and Netflix was great for the times we were lounging around the apartment. The unit is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare and serve a meal, and had everything we could have wanted for our weekend stay. The outdoor balconies are also great for relaxing, and were perfect for the late April weather.
I would definitely recommend this property for 1-4 people, and will likely stay here again if we head back to the Prescott area. Great place!
Great backroad/backcountry exploring in the Bradshaw mountains and all around Prescott, actually. A YMCA and Yavapai College right here in town and the local library is 3 short blocks away. There's a coffee bar in the library as well.
