Overview

About the property

Freestanding apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

This is an adorable and fully independent stand alone apartment (450 square feet approx.) above a non-used garage (so there are a few steps to get up to it). There are trees all around it. Looking out the numerous windows one gets the feeling of living in a nest like a bird. There are several active bird nests in Spring and Summer right outside on the porches and in the tree branches. It's one block off famous Mt. Vernon Street and the Victorian homes. Senator Highway (the main road out to the Bradshaw mountains and the pines) is right down the same street. It's an easy 5-10 minute walk to historical downtown Prescott and all its fun activities, music, coffee shops, antique shops, restaurants, bars and the beautiful court house plaza (square).

The owwner has lived in Prescott 40 plus years and lives in the main house up front right on Goodwin street. She is available to meet any needs you might have and answer just about any questions about the area. She is also dog friendly and there's a yard provided for a dog to roam around and do his businesl. It is located in a residential/rental neighborhood known as the Joslin/Whipple Historical district. The main house is a little cottage bungalow style built in about 1924 and she added this little stand alone apartment in 2007.

About Beth Olmstead

I am a nurse in Prescott and work part time at the local hospital, YRMC. I have one cat and have lived in Prescott since 1974 when I graduated from high school. I'd spent summers up here as a kid in Groom Creek since I was about 11 years old. My sister and her husband rent our old family cabin in Groom Creek out through VRBO, also.

Beth Olmstead purchased this apartment in 2004

What makes this apartment unique

I personally love living in the heart of historical downtown Prescott and never tire of my leisurely strolls to the courthouse area for early AM coffee, or to listen to one of the many summer concerts on 'the square' or at a local music hotspot. I've traveled a bit in my time and have never found a place I'd rather live. Great year round relaxing and good clean fun.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Beth,

Just wanted to let you know how much my husband and I enjoyed the Bird Nest Hideaway. We were very comfortable and literally felt 'at home.' We also fell in love with Prescott and would like to visit again and when we do, we'll be sure to stay at the Bird Nest Hideaway. Once again, thank you.

Cheers,

Cute & Cozy

  • 5 of 5

Quiet, cute and cozy home away from home. Thank you Beth for allowing us to stay at your place. Would happily recommend to others for a place to stay in Prescott. The only minor issue to note would be that the bedroom was a bit small with not much room to get around the bed. But we enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: This is the first comment as to the size around the bed in the bedroom I've received. It is the 'Bird Nest', a very well designed 440 square feet of living space with a full kitchen and a full bath and a washer and dryer and lots of windows. There is 3 feet on either side of the bed and 2 feet at the foot of the bed. I used to have only a double bed in the bedroom offering more room around the bed but I found folks much more preferred the bigger size of the queen bed to sleep in as a couple. I could move the bed against the wall but then again, when couples are staying there they prefer the ability to get out of bed without disrupting their partner.

Great Place to stay in Prescott!

  • 5 of 5

We were lucky enough to find this 1 bedroom near downtown, and lucky again with a white Christmas! Beth (the owner) has definitely done a great job with just about everything inside and out. Clean, modern, private apartment, 2 HD TV's, DVD, central stove heating, queen bed, included dishes, microwave etc. And very nicely decorated by Beth. We enjoyed our stay and the white Christmas when there. Highly recommend.

We absolutely enjoyed staying at the Birds Nest. It was clean, well kept and had everything that we could have wanted to make our stay comfortable. We really liked the quaint relaxing deck too. Thank you Beth. We will definitely be back here to stay.

Loved this place!

  • 5 of 5

This sweet apartment felt more like a stand-alone house! It was very private, spotless, and tastefully decorated. Beth thought of everything, down to the smallest detail. The bed was VERY comfortable, which was very important since my husband has back problems. My son stayed with us one night on the sofa sleeper, and said it was also comfortable. We hope to rent it again sometime!

Great backroad/backcountry exploring in the Bradshaw mountains and all around Prescott, actually. A YMCA and Yavapai College right here in town and the local library is 3 short blocks away. There's a coffee bar in the library as well.
