We loved Pooh’s Corner so much!

  • 5 of 5

You can tell this is a treasured family home steeped in Highlands history. I felt lucky to find it on VRBO. The seclusion it provides up there on the mountain made me feel brave and at peace at the same time. The views are breathtaking! The dogs loved having so much room to run and were happily worn out from our stay. Speaking of dogs, I didn’t expect the house to be so clean and well kept as a pet friendly rental. It was really the perfect place, and I hope to return next year. Gigi is very kind and accessible, and the longtime housekeeper was very nice to meet as well. One last thing, it still astounds me that this house feels all alone on Satulah mountain, not a soul in sight, yet such a short drive or pleasant walk to town! Pooh’s Corner is a piece of heaven!

Owner's Response: Thanks Ashley, so glad you enjoyed our old Highlands house and the quiet! I love that about the place too, you feel you are far away when town is just down the road. Gigi

So much history in this house! Exceptional views, secluded, but so close to the center of town. Great space with everything you need! A great place for an outdoors-loving family like ours with active, energetic young ones. Old School Highlands in the very best ways!!!

Classic mountain cottage

  • 5 of 5

The location and setting are outstanding, gives a sense of the old Highlands that is missing elsewhere. The historic house and area are located along a quiet ridge (Satula) with incredible sunset view towards Scaly Mt. and Blue Valley. Easy walk to downtown 4th St., and trail access to Satula summit.

Scenic, beautiful, lovely!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay. Myself, my parents, and some friends all stayed here while attending a wedding downtown. First of all the convenience was unbelievable! You would look out to the mountain in the morning and think to yourself you are miles away from society. Yet walking the pooches down the hill to town took maybe 15 minutes. Great location. And for the 6 of us, there was more than enough room. In fact, there was an extra room to spare! Easily fits 4 couples with the upstairs private loft area that also comes equipped with a bathroom. Rustic, historic, and simply pure. This house is certainly a charm that we look forward to coming back to in the future!

Front porch views of a lifetime

  • 5 of 5

Three women friends and our three dogs just returned to Atlanta from this extraordinary gem of a home in Highlands. If you want to be surrounded by lush, pristine woods while enjoying every comfort, this is the place. Minutes from downtown Highlands. Cool old house with plenty of room (we each had our own room), and spectacular front porch views. Gravel roads and hiking trails right out the front door. Doggy Heaven. Thank you, Gigi! We'll be back next summer, for sure.

About Gigi

We live and work in New Orleans but adore the mountains and come up every chance we get! My favorite thing to do is ride my mountain bike on the gravel roads down to town and around Highlands -- feel free to use the 2 bikes in the garage shed!

Gigi purchased this house in 1920

Why Gigi chose Highlands

This home has been in my husband's family since 1920. 3 generations have grown up hiking in the smokies and have learned a great appreciation of nature.

What makes this house unique

Relaxing on the porch and taking in the great view or sunset is an unforgettable way to end a day in Highlands. Take a walk to town, hike up Satulah Mountain from the trail right behind the house. Enjoy fireplace on cold nights, and star gazing in front yard.
