|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
'The Mountain House', named by our 5 year old grandson, is located a convenient 2 miles from the Big Canoe amenities and provides spacious accommodations with breath taking mountain and valley views. Our 5 bedroom 3 bathroom home has enough space for everyone to gather around the fireplace in the main room or to spread out by the fireplace in the terrace level, the screen porch, decks or other 3 floors.
As you enter the home on the main floor you will find a fully equipped kitchen with walnut cabinets, granite countertops and a double oven. The kitchen is spacious enough for multiple cooks to prepare a holiday meal; but if you prefer a more relaxed meal plan, use the gas grill located on the large deck. You enter the family sized screen porch through the dining area. The porch is the perfect place to rock in the willow rocking chairs while watching your dinner cook on the gas grill. The porch and deck provide long range mountain and valley views. The main level is also the central indoor gathering place to sit on the leather sofas while enjoying the floor to ceiling stone fireplace and rustic beamed ceiling. In the fall and winter months you can cheer for your favorite football team while you watch the game on the 50' flat screen TV. The main floor bedroom is off of the main gathering room and has a king size bed, a 32' flat screen TV and a connecting bath.
Upstairs, the spacious master has it's own bathroom, a king size bed and a 32' flat screen TV. The second floor is also home to the 'Bunk Room'. The 'Bunk Room' has a bunk bed with two full size beds and a single trundle bed. The 'Bunk Room' is suitable for children or adults.
One floor up from the second floor master bedroom and Bunk Room is the Crow's Nest. The Crow's Nest provides the ultimate mountain views and is a quiet getaway for reading, viewing the mountains and valley via the telescope or having a quiet workplace using the built in computer desk. The home is equipped with wireless internet.
The lower level provides another family room with a fireplace, 40' TV, DVD, and sound system. This floor is home to 2 large bedrooms and a bathroom. One bedroom has a king size bed and the other bedroom has 2 full beds and a connecting bathroom. Both bedrooms have 32' flat screen TVs. The downstairs family room has sliding doors leading to a covered porch and another large deck. Keep your eyes open because deer will cross through the side and back yard each day around 2 pm.

We purchased this home after owning a smaller log cabin in Big Canoe. We wanted a home that was large enough for our family of 3 children, their spouses and our 4 grandchildren to vacation all at one time. We searched Big Canoe for a year and a half looking for the right house. When we walked through the door of this house we knew we had found our home. Our mountain home sleeps each family comfortably with room to spread out and enjoy the laid back lifestyle that Big Canoe has to offer. We look forward to sharing our home with you and your family.
Joanne Leonard purchased this lodge in 2010
Big Canoe offers a resort style community that is close to our home in Cumming. Because of it's close proximiity to Atlanta, it is easy for our family to escape to the mountains in a community that has something to offer every age and every interest.
The tranquil setting in the woods allows us to sit and enjoy the beauty of nature, the wildlife and the fellowship of our family. My favorite part is getting away from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. We enjoy sitting in the willow rocking chairs on the screened porch and visiting with our children and grandchildren. The home has an open floor plan with a beautiful large kitchen, a spacious dining area, and large living spaces with a rustic mountain decor. The home has 4 floors so there is room for everyone!
Anything we needed the owners were able to accommodate. We've rented the house two years now and we will rent it again next year. Thanks for the beautiful restful retreat!
We recently stayed at this AMAZING home. There were 6 adults and 6 children ranging in age from 5-20 (the children). We had more than enough room for all of us. I just want to say we have stayed in our fair share of rental homes from Orlando, FL to Gatlinburg, TN and this home hands down was the best one yet!! The kitchen in this home was stocked to the hilt. Every appliance, pot, pan or utensil was there for our use. The kitchen itself was so nice, plenty of space for our dry goods for a week. Also, the family room had 2 nice size leather sofas so most of our group could sit comfortably all together which was very important to us. Most other houses there is never enough furniture for everyone. The kitchen table was also a nice size for all of us. I personally stayed in the 2nd floor suite, king size bed and was amazed at how comfortable the bed was, very refreshing!!
The community of Big Canoe was gorgeous, it was a gated entrance so we felt very secure. The ladies at the gate were very pleasant and accommodating. My husband is a fireman so he and my son were amazed at the firestations and apparatus they used in the mountains. I will say this, the roads are steep in places. We are all from Florida so this took a little getting used to but so worth the beautiful mountain views!! One night fog rolled in and if was a little harry getting up the mountain but we made it!!
Overall, we would go back in a heart beat and we would recommend to anyone and everyone. I just can't say enough about the home it was clean, well maintained, we had enough towels. washcloths, blankets etc. Joanne was amazing to work with the communication between her and I was great we did not have any issues with anything. Everything was laid out for us perfectly.
Thank you for a wonderful family gathering!!
The stay was great there where just a few things that need to be done. Other than that there where 12 people for xmas and it was a great stay
The house was exactly as they described and very clean. There were plenty of towels laid out for us and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils and pots/pans. Only drawback is that there is no area for younger children to run around outside of the house. However, there was a great playground and hiking trails that we took advantage of. We would definitely recommend staying at this house and plan to do so in the future.
Can't say enough about our stay - we use this weekend as a way to reconnect with cousins and family we don't get to see very often. It's peaceful, the house is cozy and welcoming, and the stay is always too short!
Could sit on the screened in porch and outside for days! The views are breathtaking! Just what we needed! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! Can't wait to come back!
We have been to Big Canoe about 25 times in a time share. Ten years of not going we decided to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversity there.
This house was perfect for our family of 11. The pictures did not do the house justice. Everything was so open ,very well stocked , and very clean
We felt this was the perfect mountain house.
Thanks, Joanne for making us feel so welcome.
Our home is a smoke free home.
