About Dave Hopkins
I was born and raised in the Finger Lakes area. I have over half a century of the knowledge of what this area has to offer. Keuka Cabins originally started as a place to spend with our four children. My family found joy in the simplicity of a slower pace of life and time to reconnect. We started hosting guests over a decade ago. It quickly became our passion to share with others our appreciation of nature.
Dave Hopkins purchased this Cabin in 2002
Why Dave Hopkins chose Prattsburgh
Although purchased as a future home site for my wife and I, we soon realized the cost of running electric, running water etc. combined with four kids in college was unrealistic at this time. We have found such little things as pressing your coffee with water heated over open flame, as opposed to your Kuerig machine is a small price to pay for enjoying the peace and quiet. With todays rising costs for getting away from the city we feel this is a perfect retreat for many guests from all over the world.
What makes this Cabin unique
Large covered pavilions with fire rings, outdoor 'cowboy kitchens' as well as some really cool spots for just hanging out in the woods. You drive right by this little paradise in the woods without even knowing its nestled back in beyond line of sight. Incredibly private and my 'nice doggies welcome' policy make for a nice little get away. Minutes from local wineries, alpaca farm & mill, as well as Hammondsport and Penn Yan.

loved the cabin.
You guys are definitely at the top of the list for cold weather campers! Sub Zero hiking is for the hard core! Thanks for visiting and come back soon!
Had a great weekend! Looking forward to visiting again and bringing a few friends along!
Cozy cabin perfect for winter camping
I needed a last minute camping spot and the Bird's Nest cabin was perfect. Despite the cold, snowy weather, the cabin stayed warm. The location was perfect for Finger Lakes camping.
Glad you enjoyed! It was a chilly week but you guys didnt let the snow damper your plans...
If you're looking for a vacation away from it all but close to some real fun stuff this is the place for you! We did not adequately communicate with Dave beforehand and got lost on the back roads west of the lake; when we called him (at 10:00 pm!) he patiently and hilariously guided us in. Highly recommended!
Thanks for visiting! The lack of signage helps protect our guests privacy. I am glad you enjoyed and thanks for the kind words.
We had a great time staying at Keuka Cabins. Dave, the owner, was very communicative prior to our arrival and went over what we would need to bring with us. We loved that the beds were already outfitted with linens, there were ample candles available (since there's no electric) and we had firewood already cut! Dave also arranged for his wife, Joanne, to drive us around on Saturday in their bus so we wouldn't have to worry about driving ourselves to the wineries. It was a really cozy set-up, off the beaten path and beautiful!
The shower and bathrooms are a bit makeshift (outhouse) but if you have ever camped before you'll find them to be a step up from backwoods accommodations. If you choose one of the cabins, I would suggest bringing a cooler filled with all the essentials food wise. Service was pretty sparce for us once we got to the cabin so there's no way to GPS your way to grocery stores/restaurants unless you're familiar with the community!
The cabin was super cute and comfy. Had everything you could need for a camping trip. All the little extras were appreciated. Dave and Joanne were great with questions and helpful all weekend. The Bird House was so cute, clean and comfy. Joanne did a great job taking us on the wine tour and seeing all the local spots. We will be back!
Come back soon! The second visit is even better...

Very rural area, 6 miles from the closest town. We are located on the Keuka Wine Trail. Many west side wineries to explore, as well as local breweries. Ask us about our short bus wine trail tours! Let me know your interests and I can arrange great half day excursions.
