About Susanne

Never enough time to spend in Maine!

Susanne purchased this cottage in 1995

Why Susanne chose MidCoast and Penobscot Bay

There is so much to do or you can do nothing at all but just enjoy the air, the view.

What makes this cottage unique

We love this area of Maine, it's the real Maine. Not too touristy, but enough to keep you busy on a rainy day. It’s a place that you can be as busy as you want or just hang out on the deck and watch the boats, or kayak and explore the islands. It’s a short day trip to Mohegan or Arcadia.

Simplicity, rest, and peace are what we feel when we are here. There is nothing like a night’s sleep in Maine and that first cup of coffee the next morning on the deck. The sunrises and the sunsets are spectacular! Yachts and Lobster Boats, Osprey and seals, all in the same view!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We’re just back in Vermont after a really wonderful stay in your little cottage. It could not have been more perfect! 7 days of perfect weather didn’t hurt – but the place and setting were exactly what we were hoping for. Your pictures and information all set our expectations right where they should be – not always the case.

Thanks again for sharing your sweet little place with us!

Heaven, heaven, heaven!

We cannot thank Susanne enough! This property was just AMAZING! From the captains couch, lobster theme, fire pit, comfy bed, and amazing private beach, you were able to experience everything that Maine has to offer. We loved being able to order Lobster dinners from the Keog "gig" and relax on the patio under the maple tree with our pup. Thank you so much Susanne!!

I HIGHLY recommend this rental to anyone interested. I know we will definitely be back!

Comfy Cozy Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This was our fourth year back at the cottage, we just can't get enough! We think everything is just perfect -- location, views, size, very sweet and amazing host, cleanliness -- it has it all.

To us, this cottage represents the essence of Maine - homey, welcoming, and relaxing.

It's wonderful to wake up to the sounds of the lobster boats and waves in a comfy bed with a view of the water.

The cottage itself is well-kept and neat and has everything you would need. Susanne has thought of everything in advance - including every lobster tool necessity!!

The beach at the cottage is perfect for strolling up and down -- much of Maine's coast is extremely rocky and therefore, the beach is inaccessible even from properties on the water. Not here! Parts of the beach are sand and the others are rocks small enough to easily walk on. We spend hours just chilling outside staring at the beautiful views and watching nature or looking for pretty mussel shells. The beach really is on its own natural cove, making it very private and secluded-feeling.

We are eternally thankful that she welcomes pets, too.

And it is in the perfect location for exploring mid-Coast Maine. It's an easy layup to Rockland with its amazing dining or to Camden, Rockport, or Belfast. It's a breezy 45 min drive to Red's Eats or the nearby McLoon's, which is only 5 mins away and open late into the season. We find it really convenient for necessities too -- there's the Keag or two big supermarkets in Rockland along with Walmart as well.

In the end, though, it really does come down to a sweet cottage on an amazing part of the land (and sea!) with a wonderful host.

Congrats, Susanne -- hope to see you for year five!

Great location and great size for two humans and two dogs!

  • 4 of 5

Overall our stay was great-plenty of good outdoors activities to do nearby. We were familiar with the area so that was a big plus for us.

AND thanks for being Dog friendly---our 13 year old lab actually went swimming for the first time in years!

very peaceful, million dollar view

  • 4 of 5

we had a nice getaway at this cottage. you can't beat the location. our kids loved exploring the beach - just a few steps away - and climbing on the rocks. the view is spectacular. we didn't realize before arriving this is a shared property & the owners have a separate house on the same property. In addition, the cottage is very, very rustic and "tired". however, overall, our vacation was enjoyable & there is lots to explore in the surrounding area.

The house was perfect

  • 5 of 5

I rented the house for my father for his 60th birthday and he said it was perfect. The pictures he took looked wonderful. The only disappointment was that the lobster shack next door didn't open until the week after his stay, but that happens. He said it was very secluded and quiet and it was convenient to a lot of nearby attractions. I wish I could have stayed there myself!

One note though, the key wasn't where it said in the instructions which did add a bit of confusion, but we were messing with him the whole time leading up to the trip so it was kind of fitting. :) He found it eventually.

The owner was great to deal with for booking - responsive and friendly. I'd definitely book from them again.

Amazing Sunrises, Clean Cottage

  • 4 of 5

We just returned from 4 days at the cottage, and we really enjoyed our all too brief stay! It was lovely to have a small cottage right on the water. The cottage was very clean. The deck looks out over the water. It is small but was everything that my husband and I and our dog needed. The kitchen had a great coffee maker and all of the regular kitchen utensils.
