Guestbook comments from the manager

Our week vacation was awesome! The home was more than I expected. Fully applianced kitchen, although the microwave was broken-we made do. The bedrooms are very large , along with the two baths. Nice open floor plan in the kitchen and living areas that open up to a large deck overlooking the lake. Fishing was great! Nice size perch, and bass! My husband caught a bass that he estimated to be 5 lbs - he does a lot of fishing too! The sunsets were beautiful, the morning lake with "fog" covering it -so peaceful. You've got to check out JJ Goodwins too! Great place to eat - 5 minutes away on Rte 28. The water is nice, but murky-my youngest like to snorkel but couldn't see under water. We definitely want to go again next summer!

Had a great time, but had some minor complaints.

  • 3 of 5

Super Clean but slightly rundown. Wish they had told us that the water level was too low for swimming. At the end of the dock it was not quite up to my knees and then got very rocky. We had a great time, though as the fishing was good and we had brought our kayaks. We saw loons and great blue herons. The posting says bring sheets, but you might want to bring mattress pads as well, since the mattresses are all wrapped in plastic mattress protectors. (i ran out to Walmart and picked up a couple cheap ones and then it was fine.) The beds are very comfortable. The master bedroom is gorgeous, but it is in the basement which has a slightly musty odor. (Although not everyone in my family could smell it.) Consequently none of us used that room. I wish the room on the main floor had the the other queen size bed as that floor has a bathroom.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

Excellent location and home

  • 5 of 5

This lakeside property is excellent...it has nice sandy beach and several docks to launch small boats or a kayak (not a full-size trailered boat). The neighbors are close, but not too close, and with surrounding trees, it has a nice secluded feel to it and the view of the lake is great. Inside, the house is roomy and well apportioned ...the two bathrooms are great, fully modern with a good shower in one and a whirlpool bath with hand-held shower in the other. . The bedrooms are of a good size. There is an indoor circular fireplace which we did not use, but I'm sure would do well in the winter. The outdoor wrap-around deck is very nice, and entryway doors are nice and wide. The kitchen is good, with a large central island and has a full-size fridge, coffee-maker, etc. and is stocked with most utensils you would probably need for a short stay. Wi-fi is excellent...there is no cable tv, but there is a Roku TV, so there was enough content available for our purposes. Cell phone service, at least with Verizon, was very good. The driveway/parking area is large and can accommodate many cars...we had three families there at one time and still had room for parking left-over. Overall, it doesn't get much better and we hope to return again next year.

Great Lake House & Little Lake

  • 5 of 5

Hello, We loved our stay in your lake house. Cute place, nice sandy beach. perfect for little kids too, water is pretty shallow. Our Lab loved it. House has everything you'll need in it. beds are comfortable but i would suggest bringing an extra blanket. the house stays fairly cool. (great in warmer weather) It was windy and cool while we were there but that just gave us an excuse to use that amazing fire pit/place in the living room. water is city so no bottled water needed. hot water and pressure was amazing. there was a few little things that needed fixing. the bathroom door handle was loose (we found tools to fix it), the right slider door lock is broke (we just used the stick given. standard for any slider lol) suggestions...bring pot holders for cooking. there's one there but it is kinda old. and the coffee maker takes #4 triangle style coffee filters. bring fishing poles (great fishing), the grill is charcoal, there are a few lawn chairs (ours are more comfortable)and it is a private lake so you have to get a lake pass (there in the house by the book shelves) and bring it to the Locke Lake Colony Association. its free. they'll give you stickers for your 'motor' boat and trailer to be able to use the boat launch. they give you a map of lake and where ramp is. Over all we Absolutely Loved this place. thank you again. we'll defiantly rent again! sherry, Alan, Heidi, Skip & Zipper

Nice view of the lake, had a blast, but multiple repairs are needed

  • 3 of 5

My kids loved the lake and thought the 4 levels of the home was cool. There's wifi and a fully equipped kitchen. The downside, the docks are quite beat up and borderline safe. I was told a week before my stay that the docks need replacing but were safe. When I arrived there was yellow caution tape across parts of both docks. I was very disappointed. Also, the wooden walkway down to the lake is extremely dangerous and needs to be nailed down or replaced. If you step on certain parts, the other end of the wood will fly up. My 2 yr nephew got hurt because of this. We brought our own kayak, but It would've been easier if there was a canoe or kayak that was already there for use. The rooms are good sized, the tub In the basement doesn't work well so we didn't use. The screen door off the living room needs repairing, it was duck taped. Bring fans because we were super hot!

The property did have a bunch of folding chairs and a fire pit which were very useful. Overall we still had lots of fun even with all the repairs that are needed!

Memorable Week on Locke Lake

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 7 (6 adults, 1 teen and small dog) had a memorable week on Locke Lake. The house fit our needs perfectly with 3 bedrooms and a top loft which had a blow up queen size mattress. The kitchen had everything we needed. We really enjoyed the open floor plan on the main floor giving us ample room to spread out. The deck and lawn space was much bigger than we expected. Our only disappointment came when we saw caution tape blocking the docks. We immediately called the property manager and he assured us that the main dock was safe and the tape was a warning to be extra careful due to some damage that had occurred earlier in the season. The main dock was very stable and we never felt in danger. We brought a fishing boat, a large 2 person inflatable lounger, and 2 kayaks. We also rented paddle boards for 2 days (life jackets included)from SUP-NH Paddleboard Rentals in Alton Bay. (Free delivery and pick up.) We all enjoyed the peaceful lake tremendously. We used the fire pit every night. There is a Hannafords about 15 from the house and a great pizza place called Jack’s. We also brought our own Coleman mini camping grill to make cooking easier. Lake Winnipesaukee is only 30 minutes away. We had an amazing dinner on the water at Garwoods in Wolfeboro and also traveled up to the White Mountains to drive the Kancamagus Highway. So much to do and see ...

A Lake House with Personality

  • 5 of 5

We had a very enjoyable stay at this clean and spacious chalet. We were 4 adults and 2 teenagers.

The large deck is very inviting and comfortable with a peaceful view of the lake - a good place to relax, read, eat lunch, chat......loved not only hearing the loons but seeing them on the lake along with mallards and their baby ducklings.

In the kitchen, we found everything we needed when we cooked in some evenings. There is a good Hannaford Supermarket a short distance away in Alton that was very convenient.

We brought firewood and one evening made a fire in the pit near the lake while we watched the fire AND the fireflies lighting up in the dark.

We brought blow-up tubes to paddle around in the lake - did fly fishing from the dock and at a nice deep spot the beginning of the lake near the boat launch.

The 3 bedrooms on the lower, middle and upper levels were very private with 2 queens, 1 double and a large blow-up queen mattress. We didn't use the pull out sofa in the living room because we wanted the privacy of the bedrooms.

As a bonus, we were delighted to find a farm close by that had recently opened for blueberry picking.
