Owner / Property Manager purchased this house in 1938
Fantastic. Great house for 4. Very cozy, really convenient to the wine country locations we wanted to visit.
My husband and I rented this lovely home in Petaluma for a family trip that included both my parents, sister and young niece. The house was just perfect and our hosts were simply wonderful and most considerate. Every amenity you can imagine was available for our use. The kitchen is fully equipped so meals can be easily prepared. The house is not only spacious inside but the grounds are extensive and my niece had a ball exploring outside. The home's location is just a few short miles away from charming downtown Petaluma where there is also plenty to see and do. We would definitely stay in this home again and highly recommend it to anyone who has young children and older folks in their party as well.
I brought the whole family to Petaluma for a house hunting trip and this house in the country was perfect for us. The kids were fascinated by the wild turkeys, had fun romping all over the extensive, beautiful yard, and loved hanging out in the sun room. The house is actually pretty conveniently located only about five minutes (by car; you will need one if staying here) to central Petaluma despite being in a private country setting.
A lovely house, in a secluded little street (although relatively close to the freeway it is behind a little hill, and surrounded by trees (and large lot neighbours and farmland).
The interior is so nice, it gave me some decorating inspiration for my own :)
We had some minor problems, such as one of the multiple DVD players not working, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars for sure!
I would enjoy staying there again, if I plan to be in Petaluma again.
We rented this two bedroom with den for several family members. The house is quite large. The house is just outside of Petaluma proper, only 2-3 exits from the center of Petaluma. It is away from the actual town parts and is "out in the country" without being very far away. The house itself is across the street from a Winery owned by the homeowner's brother, though we never made it there.
The house has a very large kitchen, which is FULLY, and I mean FULLY equipped! They not only had the usual full complement of dishes, pots, pans and utensils, but LOTS of everything. There are baking equipment items including a mixer, if you'd like to bake. I made breakfast, lunch and dinners for all of us, and we only picked up Chinese food (from the wonderful Jennie Low's downtown) once. There's a dishwasher and so cleanup is easy. If you make a mess, there are even cleaning products.
This place even had multiple sheets, pillows and blankets in the closet of each bedroom, more than you could ever need.
It is also air-conditioned, and even though Petaluma gets chilly at night, even in August, it will get warm during the late morning and afternoon. So we did use the A/C some of the time. For the rest of the time we just opened up all the windows and let the wonderful outdoor smells and fresh air in!
We had wild turkeys in the yard, and deer in the front yard. There are horses in the pasture behind us (no unfortunate smells, however, in case that bothers you). The back yard is shady and pretty.
There is a sunroom but it is probably only usable in the cooler months or early in the morning as it is made of glass (roof and sides) and thus warms very quickly. The view out of the glass of the sunroom is lovely!
We grilled steaks on the gas grill - so nice to have a grill!
This place only has 1.5 bathrooms but this was not a problem for us - one bathroom would have been too little but having that half bath makes all the difference. The full bathroom is very nice and has a great shower head.
We had a small plumbing issue while we were there, and I called the owner - he had a plumber out there in about 15 minutes, no kidding! The plumber unclogged the pipe and was done and out of there in 10 minutes - fastest plumbing fix I've ever experienced.
I'd love to go back and hopefully will. Gracious host and lovely place! Highly recommended!
We could have not chosen a better vacation home away from home. The house was wonderful, warming and well equipped. The owner was very accessible and really made us feel like this was our home. This was a wonderful place for our large family to gather for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very spacious and private. We lived it sooooo much!!! We will definitely go back in the future!
