Blueberry Hill Farm vacation suite is located midway between Staunton and Lexington, in a serene country setting yet convenient to I-81 and easily found. Described as 'informal but elegant' by a recent guest, the suite is in the upper part of our large home with a separate entrance via the upstairs porch which is for your private use. Our exceptional feature is the year-round sun room/sitting room where you have a wonderful tree-top view of the farm, gardens, pond, distant mountains, and at night the stars. The suite also includes an air-conditioned bedroom with an antique queen bed and a daybed, fully equipped kitchen, and bathroom with shower. Linens, towels, kitchenware, tableware, basic staples, coffee, tea, creamer and sweeteners are provided. You are free to use the outdoor gas grill and picnic table. A TV and DVD player are available. Children 12 and over are welcome. The suite is not suitable for pets.
We invite you to enjoy the farm: Wander through the woods and wildlife habitat around spring fed streams and two ponds. Go row boating on the larger pond or bring your gear and go fishing. It is stocked with large mouth bass and catfish. Guests report great fishing! Enjoy the flower gardens. Help yourself to fruits and vegetables, blueberries and wild berries in season. Bring your field glasses to watch birds, and other wildlife.
There is so much to do in this area! In Lexington take a horse drawn carriage tour of the historic town, or attend events at the Virginia Horse Center. In Staunton take in a play at the American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Theater, or visit the Frontier Culture Museum. Nearby, go for a tour and tasting at Rockbridge Vineyard, hike mountain trails, bike along picturesque country roads, go 'antiquing', or take a scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway (just 15 minutes away). We have information, directions and maps in the suite for your use in planning your activities and we will be glad to help you in any other way we can.
Clean and quiet apartment; much better than a hotel room.
The screened in porch was also nice. No complaints at all.
Very well stocked with holiday essentials, friendly hosts, good base for a short stop seeing local area
We enjoyed staying at Blueberry Hill Farm for spring break in April 2017. The farm is close to 1-81, so it is easy to access nearby attractions. This tranquil farm is a great place to slow down and avoid the hectic pace of urban life.
Jean and Frank are great hosts. The rooms are very clean and decorated with antiques. Jean added many little touches, such as very well organized tourist information, down to coffee, teabags, condiments, and toiletries. Our son had a great time “helping” Frank with the farm animals. In addition, he enjoyed fishing in the pond. We were especially fortunate, since two of the goats had babies during our stay. In fact, our son wanted to only stay on the farm each day and so he did on our last full day there.
We spent hours in the sun room, looking out at the farm and mountains. Also, it was great having a kitchen, since there are limited dining facilities nearby. We strongly recommend staying at Blueberry Hill Farm.
This is a beautifully furnished, cozy atmosphere. It was quiet and clean and just what we were looking for. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed. We would definitely come and stay again. Thank you!
The suite was a comfortable place to stay. The owners supplied extra touches and amenities, such as coffee, tea, spices, shampoo, soap, etc. There was a nice view off the back porch. There were some interesting sound effects in the area: goats bleats, church bells, and a coyote howls. The owners are nice people who offer to help however they can. Though I had already planned a head of time what sites I wanted to visit in the area, the owners supplied a lot of brochures of area attractions. The location is conveniently close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The suite seems better suited for a couple rather than families, but there is a day bed if the couple has one child. My only complaint was that I wish the
TV in the suite was a little larger.
