Blueberry Hill Farm vacation suite is located midway between Staunton and Lexington, in a serene country setting yet convenient to I-81 and easily found. Described as 'informal but elegant' by a recent guest, the suite is in the upper part of our large home with a separate entrance via the upstairs porch which is for your private use. Our exceptional feature is the year-round sun room/sitting room where you have a wonderful tree-top view of the farm, gardens, pond, distant mountains, and at night the stars. The suite also includes an air-conditioned bedroom with an antique queen bed and a daybed, fully equipped kitchen, and bathroom with shower. Linens, towels, kitchenware, tableware, basic staples, coffee, tea, creamer and sweeteners are provided. You are free to use the outdoor gas grill and picnic table. A TV and DVD player are available. Children 12 and over are welcome. The suite is not suitable for pets.
We invite you to enjoy the farm: Wander through the woods and wildlife habitat around spring fed streams and two ponds. Go row boating on the larger pond or bring your gear and go fishing. It is stocked with large mouth bass and catfish. Guests report great fishing! Enjoy the flower gardens. Help yourself to fruits and vegetables, blueberries and wild berries in season. Bring your field glasses to watch birds, and other wildlife.
There is so much to do in this area! In Lexington take a horse drawn carriage tour of the historic town, or attend events at the Virginia Horse Center. In Staunton take in a play at the American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Theater, or visit the Frontier Culture Museum. Nearby, go for a tour and tasting at Rockbridge Vineyard, hike mountain trails, bike along picturesque country roads, go 'antiquing', or take a scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway (just 15 minutes away). We have information, directions and maps in the suite for your use in planning your activities and we will be glad to help you in any other way we can.
Great hospitality and exactly what I was looking for in a work retreat.
Blueberry Hill Farm was a great little place to stay for the weekend. It was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The back porch was where we spent most of our time, drinking coffee, enjoying the quiet and star gazing at night.
Thank you for sharing your farmhouse with us.
A great location for a weekend escape to the Shenandoahs. The suite is equipped with a nice size bathroom, kitchen, and two comfortable beds! The view from the sun-room is absolutely breathtaking and the farm provides a sheer sense of serenity. Jean is a pleasure to work with as well. I definitely recommend Blueberry Hill Farm to anyone traveling to this area. It undoubtedly beats staying in an overpriced hotel!
When looking for a hotel outside of Charlottesville, I found this charm and we could not have been more pleased. I would stay here over a hotel room any day. Jean and Frank's rental was comfortable, relaxing, clean and well kept. Having the farm as your vacation background was the icing on the cake. Jean thought of every detail in this rental, you wont need anything but clothes and food. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway this is it, I have missed waking up on their farm every morning since we left. There are many great local attractions and amazing landscapes to enjoy. Highly recommended!
My wife and I enjoyed the beautiful location and the hosts were very nice. It was a good location to enjoy some of the area attractions and the hosts have compiled a great deal of information about things to do and places to go. The apartment itself was pretty clean (not spotless) and pretty well appointed as far as the kitchen was concerned (you could cook a simple meal there with ease). We agreed that it was a great place to stay but as we were celebrating our 10 wedding anniversary, we would have liked something that FELT more private. In other words, the hosts left us alone and went about their business normally and the apartment is separate from the rest of the house, but you still kind of knew they were around. Not in a snooping way...just there.
Other positives: we LOVED hanging out in the sun room (the views were very charming), the road the property is on is off the beaten path, so there was very little street noise and there is a pond that is stocked with fish and a rowboat (we didn't make it out there, unfortunately, but it is a short walk).
We really enjoyed visiting Staunton and Lexington. We had some nice walks and meals (Lexington even has decent sushi, which is pretty good for a town that small). The country around there is just beautiful and it is very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Overall, a good experience, just maybe not the perfect fit for a couple on their second "honeymoon". I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this place to someone else. Well worth the price!
My wife and I really needed a break from chaos that is Metro DC and could not have been happier with the single, very private and well appointed suite at Blueberry Hill Farm. The owners, Jean and Frank, were quite hospitable and we were free to roam around their beautiful property at will enjoying the wildlife and rolling countryside. The suite's sunroom and private balcony were great places to relax with a glass of wine and read a great book from the suite's small library. The optional breakfast was plentiful and delicious as well. We will definitely return.
