I was hesitant to write this review because it was so nice I really don't want to spoil it. Myself and my family were looking forward to a nice quiet place to stay and this surpassed all expectations. The fishing was outstanding and we had the dock to ourselves all week. We saw all sorts of wildlife but not see all sorts of tourist life. To us it was great.

We had a wonderful vacation! Thank you Mr. Vaughn! The condo has great view, and we loved pier. The only thing was we didn't have any cell signal in that area.

Wonderful place to rest and relax

  • 5 of 5

Mr Vaughn was wonderful to work with. It was a little warm upstairs but probably only needed filter change. Called about sheets for sofa sleeper and extra bath cloths and they were there within a very short time. The maid was more than accommodating. I feel sure we will be staying here again and maybe bring our families. Views were beautiful.

Carrabelle Junction
Authentic old coastal Florida dining experience. The BEST food between Tallahassee and Apala...
Car: necessary

Located in the Panhandle of Florida just Southwest of Tallahassee, Carrabelle is the last vestige of Old Florida, a haven for discriminating people who love the coastal outdoors but shy away from crowds. Three pristine rivers converge at Carrabelle and connect with the Gulf of Mexico, providing access to unstressed salt and freshwaster fishing grounds. Tarpon, Redfish, Grouper, Snapper, Trout, Cobia: just a sample of the species that inhabit our waters.

Carrabelle's waterfront combines the authenticity of a working waterfront with the fun of recreational fishing and boating. Charter fishing is readily available. Carrabelle connects to 750,000 acres of public forest for hunting, hiking, birding, trail-riding or just enjoying the passage of eagles, deer, blue heron, osprey and black bear. White sand beaches at Carrabelle Beach and Dog Island beckon beachcombers, swimmers and snorkelers. A true fishing village, its people have been harvesting the sea for more than 100 years. Shrimping, oystering, commercial and recreational game fishing together with tourism have been the mainstays of Carrabelle’s economic development over the years.

Although a hidden secret no longer, Carrabelle’s ideal location is surrounded by state and national forests, together with its beautiful, deep water seaport. The community of 1300 residents welcomes travelers who enter by boat, or arrive via scenic Highways 98 along the coast, and 67 through the forests.

One of only a few small towns in historic Franklin County, Carrabelle is proud of its independence and home-grown residents. Visitors can mix easily with local folks in the coffee shop, neighborhood bars and restaurants, the grocery, pharmacy service/convenience stores and at the post office too. Hardware stores plus a gift shop ensure that both male and female travelers can buy necessities or just browse for souvenirs during their visit. The Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center, the World’s Smallest Police Station, the Carrabelle History Museum, the WWII Camp Gordon Johnston Museum and local shrimp boats are special highlights not to be missed when enjoying a walk toward the scenic Riverfront Pavillion located on Marine Street.

City Attractions: As the visitor travels just west of town, watch for the historic Crooked River Lighthouse in its wooded setting on the north side of Highway 98. And don’t miss the miles and miles of white sand beaches, open to the public for walking and enjoying. A public wayside park with bathroom facilities is located less than a mile west of town. Further west, the Tate’s Hell Forest walking trail sign will lure the visitor into the trailhead. All the while, the white heads and tails of soaring eagles, together with pelicans, herons, and osprey can be seen circling overhead along the beautifully scenic waterfront highway.

Nearby Attractions: Parks and Beaches
