Great location in a great town!
Our stay in Cape Charles exceeded all of our expectations. Briefly, the town is quaint, quiet, friendly and just enough things to see and do for a long weekend (4 days). The beach was surprisingly lovely.
The house was also a pleasant surprise. The location was perfect for us - just a block from the beach, so that we could easily walk our kayaks down to the water's edge. We biked in all directions each day. The house was roomy, and well-furnished. The kitchen was very usable. The grill was clean and well-maintained. The linens and such were clean and plentiful. My only ding against the house was the preponderance of fruit flies. It's excusable - we have them in our own house in Annapolis right now too, and I'm confident the property manager will address it immediately. The property is very well cared for.
Cape Charles makes it onto the short list for medium-range destinations for long weekends!
Sea Shell Cottage
We (5 adults and 3 kids) really enjoyed our stay at the Sea Shell Cottage. The cottage has a great location just a block from the beach and a block from ice cream (CC Kool Eatz). The house was very well stocked with linens and all the beach gear you could want, except an umbrella . Leave your beach chairs and rafts at home. The kitchen was up to date and the bedrooms were roomy and the beds comfortable. A real plus was having a separate thermostat and cooling unit for each floor. You don't have to turn the main level to freezing to cool the second and 3rd floor bedrooms. Another bonus was having a TV in each bedroom. Access to the third floor beds/game room is through the master bedroom, which was a small problem when two of the kids were taking afternoon naps in the master bedroom. The bathrooms were nice and the master bath has a good size soaking tub. The internet was fast although we did have to reboot 2 times during our week. The house also has a gas BBQ grill and a picnic table next to it, although we didn't use either during our stay. The second floor balcony over looks the bay and the perfect place to enjoy an adult beverage and watch the sun set. The house also has a lovely wrap around porch to enjoy some down time, enjoy a meal or just watch the world go by. Cape Charles itself is a lovely small town with several good restaurants. It also has a brewery, distillery and a cidery. A tip if you chose to eat at the brewery (their food is good as is the beer), eat inside to avoid being overwhelmed with flies who love the food and beer as much as we did. We loved the very short walk to the beach. The beach wasn't crowed and the water refreshing. With 3 small kids it was nice the water was shallow enough for them. Coming off the beach, the house has a hose to rinse off the sand before entering the house. Overall, we loved the house and will probably book it again next year.
Great Place for a Family Vacation
Us: 6 adults, 4 kids, 1 infant
This is our second time staying in Cape Charles in the past few years, and this property did not disappoint!
Everything about it was great. The kids stayed in the loft area and also used the pull-out couch off of the master bedroom. Everything was clean, comfortable and new feeling, the kitchen had everything we could have needed, and the house had plenty of towels/linens. Plenty of seating for meals as well (two tables).
Location to the beach access is great, and the bay is great as well; perfect for kids. You won't get big waves, and it's shallow really far out. It's under a 10 minute walk over the pier and town as well. There's also an ice cream shop just up the block.
Perhaps the only "disappointment" (I am being EXTREMELY nitpicky here) was that the view of the water from the upstairs bedrooms/balcony and front porch is somewhat limited due to the location/height of the garage.
We'd gladly come back here again in the future! Thanks for making this house available for guests!
Beautiful, comfortable house
House is an easy one block walk to the quiet end of Cape Charles Beach. House is lovely and comfortable with lots of little touches that made our stay nicer. Kitchen is well equipped with good appliances. Front porch and 2nd floor deck were wonderful especially with fidgety 3yo and a dog.
Loved the location of this property, very easy walk to the beach and a view from the kitchen window. This house has lots of room for a large family. My favorite place was the large porch.
Lots of room, great location
This was our first trip to Cape Charles. The house was great, lots of room for everyone, fully stocked kitchen items, very clean and comfortable. The location was also great, just had to cross the road to get to the beach and nice views from several of the windows. Also easy walk to the shops and pier. Would definitely stay here again in the future.
