This quaint cottage is a wine country gem, with its bright and cheerful rooms inside and its plethora of olive trees and California Oak outdoors. Two bedrooms are available to comfortable accommodate 4 guests, each having a queen bed. The closet space are sure to make you and your guests feel at home, no matter the duration of your stay.
Enjoy the wine country in Glen Ellen! It is the enchanted area of writer Jack London, wineries like Benziger, sophisticated restaurants, or just the bliss of relaxing with a local glass of wine, get the grill going, and prepare something from the incredible selection at Glen Ellen Market ...
This wine country cottage provides you with a cozy atmosphere. Cook up a big meal for friends in the fully-stocked kitchen that’s ready to go, and enjoy it at the breakfast nook with seating for four. If cooking on the grill is more your style, there is a BBQ out back and plenty of outdoor seating to choose from. Relax in the shade of the olive trees before curling up in front of the flat-screen TV in the front room! It's elegantly furnished, has two rooms with comfortable beds, a full-size kitchen, a bright and airy living room, and the great Sonoma Wine Country all around it.
There are numerous ancient olive trees on the property, roses in the front, a great picknick area out back and on its west side (great for sunsets), a heat lamp for evenings, direct access to Warm Springs Road for those who love riding their bikes here, and it is literally surrounded by tasting rooms within a 15 minute driving radius.
It is close to the Sonoma Valley Regional Park (great for running and hiking!), or the famous Jack London park with its Jack London Museum and peaceful gardens. Drive up to Morton's Warm Springs and dip into their pools, or drive over the scenic Warm Springs Road to the Kenwood area for more wine tasting than may fit into a single weekend - or just walk to Glen Ellen, with its variety of restaurants, a tasting room, the GE market, or the Jack London Lounge and Bar.
There is also lots of room for dogs to safely roam as its 0.6 acres are fully enclosed by a beautiful redwood fence that also provides additional privacy. It's adjacent to a large former 2 acre orchard with no building on it, adding to the green scenery and secluded feeling of the place.

I've always dreamed about a place in the wine country - and now I'd love to share it with you!
I live in San Francisco, and would be more then happy to help with recommendations in town, in the wine country, in Napa, or up and down the Pacific Coast as I love to explore this wonderful part of California. I'm a huge fan of the culture and life style in Sonoma. You'll love it too!
Georg Gottschalk purchased this cottage in 2010
It's perfect: Lots of wine tasting, great weather, close to San Francisco - I live in Noe Valley, and it takes me just 1 hour and 15 minutes to drive up, observing the speed limit all the way (huge recommendation - do not speed!! They're always out there ...). The house is cozy, lots of room around it as I like to be outside most of the time, and while small inside it has everything you'd ever need.
Wonderful grounds, clean and tidy rooms. A little small, and only one bathroom for two bedrooms/couples, but it was as pictured and a great place to stay in the heart of wine country and hiking paradise.
We had a great time staying here and really enjoyed Glen Ellen. The house was comfortable with a great yard for the dog to explore in. The town was also really charming, great restaurants and awesome wineries! We would definitely book this place again!
If you are looking for a great spot in wine county this is it. A hidden gem surrounded by some great country side not just vineyards.
15mins from Santa Rosa seafood if you love fresh fish to go with the great wines you can find at the wineries all around this home. Glen Ellen market for everything else. Vjb has some great charcuterie as well as wine in near by kenwood. I could go on! If you like food, wine, countryside and life you will love this spot of the world
The house above basic but not fancy it is just home, with all the things you need. You can tell it is enjoyed and lived in and George is generous enough to share his space. A very attentive and caring host he is available if you need him but otherwise leaves you in peace to make the most of your stay.
Great garden to enjoy the weather very private and a large lot surrounds the house. Great for humans and dogs!
We have stayed in several properties In the area and this is the first time I wanted to write a review. I want to keep this secret but georg is such a great host we also want to share our find.
If you want a Hint of the rustic and quaint in a home but surrounded by a well laid out garden setting with your own mini vineyard,a small but well equipped and super cosy kitchen that a cook can have fun in, comfy beds, brilliant shower and all in a little slice of wine country then you can't go wrong.
This was an absolutely fabulous stay! The cottage was just as described and had everything we needed. The setting was private and quite - we loved sitting outside at night and looking up at the stars. In the daytime it was very peaceful. It was also very convenient to the great restaurants in town (be careful walking back after sunset as it can be quite dark - but that's the beauty of this lovely village) and a great little market. The owners were very responsive to questions and helpful about our stay. I got the sense that they love the area and know how to entertain! We would have loved to remain many more days just to relax on the property. Can't say enough about it- go see for yourselves!
We moved cross country to CA, and GE cottage was our home away from home. It has a big fenced yard and the house was so cozy. Owner was very responsive and helpful. He has made our transition so much easier. Thank you GE cottage!
first off---its doggie heaven....lots of completely enclosed yard for them to play and explore. my 4 doxies braved the cold and explored every nook and crevasse they could find.
as for me, it was a wonnerful little cottage with everything that you would need. for one of the coldest winters they have had- we stayed warm thanks to the central heating. i closed off the front bdrm and used the back bdrm. the bed was comfy.
the kitchen was cozy and fully appointed. as i usually travel with my whole kitchen- i scaled down this time and found it not lacking in anything.
the only slight drawback is the poor basic cable options available in that area--mostly local channels and such. luckily, i brought along my mac and monitor and was able to use the great house WIFI to access netflix and hulu to watch movies/etc.
talk about instant hot water in the shower---IT WAS GREAT!!BEING SO COLD I DID NOT WANT TO BE STANDING UNDER A COLD SHOWER FOR MINUTES.
bring a flashlite and do what the locals do when walking at nite--have it on and swinging so oncoming traffic can see you--it is very dark--not like living in the big city. i walked to the local restaurants and found them serving great food.
especially liked the Glen Ellen Star(FARM TO TABLE)--great friendly service staff and fantastic food. the brussel sprouts broiled in a small cast iron skillet smothered with bacon bits---LOTS OF BACON BITS--was to die for. for breakfast i went to the Glen Ellen Garden restaurant. for great mexican food, i went to El Molino Central. try the niman farms pork tamales---real good and brought back fondled memories of my grandmas cooking in chihuahua.
the cottage is a great little place with a huge yard and very centrally located...i went on day trips to napa, sonoma, clearlake, petaluma, sabastopol and santa rosa--all easy drives. the glen ellen village market is a good place to find most food items--its bigger version in sonoma carries an even wider selection of local wines cheeses and local meats.
lastly and most importantly, Georg was always available via text to answer my questions--very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas
my doggies and i will be back---we will wait for the summer time when its above freezing....us angelenos are not used to cold!!!
Hiking in Jack London Park, swimming at Morton's Warm Springs, Wine Tasting, Massage in a 22 foot wine barrel at Magical Massage, close to Jack London Village, horseback riding through nearby parks, golf at the Sonoma County Golf Club, bike riding, ...
