About Lynn Carlton
I have always loved to fix and design. When I began my real estate career at 24, I soon realized that the best part of the job was meeting with architects and interior designers and watching as the more artistic elements of construction fell into place. After 13 years in real estate, I built two homes, vacation rentals on magical Orcas Island in Washington State. Then I undertook a major remodel of a cabin on the water. Something clicked during that process of transforming the cabin into a unique work of art; I knew I had found my passion. Through the next several years, I transformed some 30 rather decrepit homes into fresh, beautiful residences, working tirelessly at the rate of two or three a year. Then I decided to turn my creative attention to designing and constructing very special vacation accommodations. I moved to Mexico, the land of color and craft, and began working there in 2005. I enjoy being able to see the possibilities in a wreck of a dwelling. When I first set eyes on a place in need of a make-over, I see what it could be. I can envision how the finished place will look...and that vision guides me. I work an average of six to eight months on each project, directing a local architect and construction team, supervising every step along the way to make certain my vision is embodied in bricks and mortar, paint and plaster. I'm always on the hunt for that specific hand-selected piece that blends with everything else. The beauty of Mexico is being able to design a particular piece that can be made by one of the talented artisans that works beautifully...like a glorious puzzle.' Be my guest at one of eight different and individually unique accommodations in San Miguel de Allende. They range from a one room studio apartment with kitchenette to a one bedroom casita to a 3 bedroom view home. I invite you to check out the luxury, turn of the century art deco apartment in Buenos Aires, Argentina Wishing you all the best and a very pleasant stay, Lynn C

Great location - but there are some minuses
The apartment is in a great location. It is within walking distance of the Central Park, several churches, and a Starbucks. The kitchen is well equipped and the bed was very comfortable.
There were lots of books available in the common area.
During my stay I had to deal with a leaky toilet and cockroaches. Lynn was very responsive and took care of both problems right away.
Here are the reasons I only only gave the apartment 3 stars. First, and most important, you can’t flush the toilet paper—you have to put in a small garbage can for which liners were not provided. I wish that this important detail had been disclosed in the property description. If I had known this I would have selected another rental. I am not a prude. I own 3 dogs and am so very familiar with disposing of poop. Just don’t want to deal with that when I am on vacation.
Second, the photos of the apartment make it appear that the apartment is very bright. It’s not. Downstairs, there is one small window facing the street and 2 windows facing the common area. Bulbs in the lamps did not produce much light.
Finally, the apartment was dirty. The shower floor was grimy, surfaces needed dusting, and the whole place needed a good scrubbing.
Totally impressed...this was HOME!
So we'll appointed, totally charming and the very best location one could ask for. I felt safe and pampered with immediate response from Gwendolyn the property manager when I had questions like where to get a wonderful massage. I wish I were able to stay longer. I will be back! Housekeeper was a charm too!!
The bathroom odor was over powering. The apartment was very dirty when we arrived. Kitchen, living area and bedroom. There is a open hole to the street outside in the stove hood which causes some dirt to come into the apartment. But, that didn't answer why the dirt was caked on and why there was even spilled coffee in the microwave. The landlord was called and within a couple hours there was a maid cleaning and a plumbers trying to fix the bathroom. The bathroom order got better but was still there and remained throughout our stay. We covered the drains and keep the door closed. The apartment is cute and assessible to the center of the city. Managers very quick to respond.
I'm terribly sorry to hear of the problems, yet at the same time I appreciate hearing about them so I can do something. We have addressed the bathroom odor extensively and wound up replacing the toilet seal. We will certainly keep checking on this. I have talked to the maid about the cleaning and went into great detail about what needs to be done.
We intend to remain on top of the situation.
This truly is a vacation rental with personality.
I stayed at the Selma Hayek vacation rental in San Miguel for the whole month of August 2016. It is a delightful 1 bedroom king size bed loft apartment with a couch and two chairs downstairs. There are two bathrooms. There is also a small kitchen. The couch is another bed for a guest. The pictures and description are exactly what I was expecting. It is an easy 10 minute walk to Starbucks and other delightful restaurants around the jardin. It is a lovely vacation rental close to everything. I wanted a vacation rental that was more than a hotel room. This vacation rental does have personality, for sure.
Excellent value for the price
The apartment is clean and well maintained, not luxurious but plenty of character. Excellent bed, and downtown noise is not a problem due to good noise-killing windows. The kitchen is functional, and the private roof garden is a bonus. The service is excellent and the location is great, with the mercado a few steps away. This is an inexpensive but very comfortable option for two people to spend a week or two in SMA.
I appreciate the good review. We have had several people who come for 1-3 months at a time, many repeat guests at that!
Excellent choice for a single person or couple.
We rented both Selma Hayek and Ricardo Montelban during our stay and all of us were happy. 3 of us shared Selma and 1 of us in Montelban. We felt safe, secure and Lynn has thought of everything. The maid, Azuzena, was very nice and helpful too. The units are not huge but provide more space than a typical hotel room and you have kitchens, plenty of water pressure and comfy beds and furniture. Lovely design. Lynn was prompt and helpful in our communication. She has a great team.
Flat walk to the Jardin and just one block from the well known Artesan's Market. Located on Animas street between Homobono and Calzada de la Luz.
