This little cottage at the head of MDI is a great starting point for all activities on your to do list. It has two queen size bedrooms, two baths, and two sitting rooms making it great for two couples, with one couple on the first floor and another on the second floor.
For a family with children, one sitting room turns into a double size bedroom. There's also a dining area and an efficient galley style kitchen. All necessary kitchen equipment is readily available. Towels and linens are provided. Games are available and a nice sound system. The house has Cable to provide television and internet.
There are no neighbors but there is a little general store within walking distance if you need milk, etc. or a quick take-out lunch. There are also kayaks to rent at the nearby KOA campground. Travel back over the bridge just a hop and a skip for the best steamed lobster you may ever eat. They have picnic tables and also serve delicious chowder, steamed clams, or lobster sandwiches.
Travel a mile south on Rt.102/198 and you'll find Mother's Kitchen who will pack you a wonderful bag lunch to take on your hike or beach trip. You can call ahead (288-4403) and pick up your lunch on the way.
Most people come here to visit Bar Harbor, the best known town on MDI. But there are also three other villages here, Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and Tremont. Aaron's Place is a great starting point to these places as well as to Bar Harbor.
If you are looking for a winter getaway, Aaron's Place is still a great starting place although many places mentioned above may be shut for the season.
