Three Oaks House Rental Photos and Description

Beautiful rustic dwelling on 4 acres of gardens, pines, ponds. Quiet & private!

Really a unique place! You really feel like you're way out in the country.

Walk down to the river, skim stones on the pond, sit and listen to the birds. Fantastic fireplace, a great kitchen. We have 2 bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a Queen size bed and the other bedroom has a trundle bed with 2 twin beds that can connect or not. In the living room there is a sofa bed that bends back to become a full bed. We also have a Queen size raised air bed to set up in a large tent or on the porch. We have 66 mature organic blueberry bushes which are free for the picking from July-Sept.

Most of the time I stay in my vintage RV at the other end of the property. I value my guests' privacy, so you will not see or hear me, unless you need me! My iPhone is the front desk!

About Donna Blue Lachman

My name is Donna Blue and I love living out here. I'm from Chicago but found this place in 1986 and fell in love! We added on to the house and planted trees which are now huge-- and the gardens are, well, mature and lovely.

After going back and forth from Chicago on weekends I decided to JUST LIVE here,,. which I've been doing for about 13 years.

I'm an actor, playwright, teacher and director. I founded and was the Artistic Director of the Blue Rider Theater in Chicago for 14 years. I spent many years of my life traveling to do research for my plays, performed all over the country and abroad and Off- Broadway.

I perform at the Acorn Theater, teach drama in schools and hold retreats here on the land.

I also have a little theater company I've started out here called, "SECOND WIND" which is for boomers (like me) doing improvisations about our lives, and turning them into plays for the community. GREAT FUN!!

I have lived in Haiti, Poland, and trekked in Nepal (to just name a few.) I have been blessed with many people who welcomed me into their homes and

treated me wonderfully.

Now it's my turn to host and I'm excited to share this beautiful place with others.

I do all the gardening and landscaping which I consider a privilege.

Donna Blue Lachman purchased this house in 1987

Why Donna Blue Lachman chose Southwest Michigan

From the moment I walked on this land I felt it was very special. I knew the Potawatami Indians lived all along the river which borders the western part of the property.

Everyone who comes here to visit or vacation tells me they feel the wonderful energy too.

I try to keep it going.

What makes this house unique

What most people love about staying here, is that it feels so far away from everything, yet close to great restaurants, theater, cinema and the BEACH!

Perfect getaway with both farm and in-to-the-woods vibe

My parents came from China to visit me and I wanted to take them somewhere relaxing for a weekend. The house is perfectly suited for my purpose. The large piece of land around is beautiful and secluded but the house is not too far away from civilization. Every room has large screen doors towards the outside and the view is impeccable. The owner was very nice and made sure that our stay was very comfortable. Everything is super convenient because it's her home and she lives there! There's water filter in the kitchen that soften the hard well water which is very important for me. I'd definitely come again and recommend it to my friends.

Feels like home!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house for the weekend, and only wished we could have stayed longer! It is a beautiful, comfortable, clean, artsy home nestled on a nice large property. This home offers sooo much: hot tub, fire place, fire pit, weber grills, picnic table, huge screened in room, 2 bathrooms... Each bedroom has a sliding door with a deck to the yard. The host is accessible and made us feel instantly welcome. I highly recommend this property.

Wonderful time at a Beautiful property! Highly recommend staying here.

My husband and I were looking for a place close to Warren Dunes State Park where we could stay with our two dogs. The location was perfect for us, close enough to drive to the park and to St. Joseph, but also secluded and Peaceful.

When we pulled up to the house, I ran around to the back of the house, hoping it was as pretty as the pictures. I was happy to find it was even prettier in person. The hot tub was a lovely bonus, a great way to end the day after walking the dunes at the park.

Donna, the owner, was an absolute pleasure to work with! She was quick to answer any question and was very welcoming.

Enjoyed our stay so much, we hope we can find time to come back next year.

Beautiful house & backyard

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my boyfriend and another couple for two nights and it was a great time. The highlights were the firepit, huge backyard and beautiful gardens, screened in back porch, and multiple grills to cook out. It's about a 10 minute drive to the Warren Dunes, which was the main reason we were there. There is a store close by - Molly's and then others a little farther away. It's very secluded. Donna was very kind and a great host. The hot tub is small but clean. Only downside is the pillows aren't very comfortable, so you might want to bring your own. Otherwise, it was a great place to stay!
