Overview

About the property

Beautiful rustic dwelling on 4 acres of gardens, pines, ponds. Quiet & private!

Really a unique place! You really feel like you're way out in the country.

Walk down to the river, skim stones on the pond, sit and listen to the birds. Fantastic fireplace, a great kitchen. We have 2 bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a Queen size bed and the other bedroom has a trundle bed with 2 twin beds that can connect or not. In the living room there is a sofa bed that bends back to become a full bed. We also have a Queen size raised air bed to set up in a large tent or on the porch. We have 66 mature organic blueberry bushes which are free for the picking from July-Sept.

Most of the time I stay in my vintage RV at the other end of the property. I value my guests' privacy, so you will not see or hear me, unless you need me! My iPhone is the front desk!

About Donna Blue Lachman

My name is Donna Blue and I love living out here. I'm from Chicago but found this place in 1986 and fell in love! We added on to the house and planted trees which are now huge-- and the gardens are, well, mature and lovely.

After going back and forth from Chicago on weekends I decided to JUST LIVE here,,. which I've been doing for about 13 years.

I'm an actor, playwright, teacher and director. I founded and was the Artistic Director of the Blue Rider Theater in Chicago for 14 years. I spent many years of my life traveling to do research for my plays, performed all over the country and abroad and Off- Broadway.

I perform at the Acorn Theater, teach drama in schools and hold retreats here on the land.

I also have a little theater company I've started out here called, "SECOND WIND" which is for boomers (like me) doing improvisations about our lives, and turning them into plays for the community. GREAT FUN!!

I have lived in Haiti, Poland, and trekked in Nepal (to just name a few.) I have been blessed with many people who welcomed me into their homes and

treated me wonderfully.

Now it's my turn to host and I'm excited to share this beautiful place with others.

I do all the gardening and landscaping which I consider a privilege.

Donna Blue Lachman purchased this house in 1987

Why Donna Blue Lachman chose Three Oaks

From the moment I walked on this land I felt it was very special. I knew the Potawatami Indians lived all along the river which borders the western part of the property.

Everyone who comes here to visit or vacation tells me they feel the wonderful energy too.

I try to keep it going.

What makes this house unique

What most people love about staying here, is that it feels so far away from everything, yet close to great restaurants, theater, cinema and the BEACH!

Gracious hostess Fun get away

  • 5 of 5

We were guests at Blueberry Fields over Christmas Vacation with our college age children. The home is lovely artsy clean and fun ! Donna EXPECTED us to enjoy all of the features of her lovely home. We soaked in the hot tub, roasted near the hearth, cooked great food in her kitchen, gamed at the large farm table and hiked in the snow to the river to watch the birds. Everything we needed was provided and quirks of this fabulous home well explained to us. My family highly recommends this home. We will cherish the memories of our Christmas Vacation Adventure and the time we had to re-bond as a family.

Peaceful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at Blueberry Fields, and so did our dogs. The house was clean and quiet, the space charming, the land gorgeous, and the hot tub pristine. Loved having things to do nearby (long walks, chili festival, Journeyman Distillery, apple picking, etc) and Donna was the perfect hostess. Thank you!

Comfy, cozy, and just perfect for a country weekend retreat for yourself.

This little house was so comfy and cozy. From the gorgeous screened in porch to the fabulous hot tub to the inviting living area complete with fireplace. It made us want to move right in. Well, at least to come back for another relaxing weekend.
