This newly renovated cottage is located on the ocean in a lobstering village on the coast of Maine. It is situated on a deep water harbor with spectacular ocean and island views. Although it is technically an island it is accessible by a causeway linking the island to the mainland. It is approximately 3 hours from Boston by car. It has two bedrooms, both with southern exposures and views of the ocean and the islands. The living space has the dining area to the left and the living area to the right. The living area has cushioned comfortable chairs, couch and cable TV. It also has a new gas fired heating system for chilly nights. The brand new kitchen has lots of counter space, cabinets and storage. The cottage has all hardwood floors with lots of windows and sliders for spectacular panoramic views. It also has a large deck for being outdoors with ample furniture for enjoying the Maine coastline.
I grew up in the Camden Rockport area. I was very fortunate with my brother's help. It offers a place for quiet, relaxation and mindfulness. These are important to me. it has been a special place to share with family and friends.
Sheila Levenseler purchased this cottage in 1985
The cottage is open with a lot of sunlight because of the southern exposure. In addition to the light, our King bed is very comfortable. It is important when away from home you sleep well. We enjoy cooking the local sea food and veggies from the local Farmer's Market so the kitchen is fully equipped .
My family and friends live in the area. It was important to be able to return to the area. I loved the setting od the with the ocean views, birds and nestled in a a local lobster fishing community.
We could not have asked for a more perfect respite. This cottage is comfortable and fully appointed. The sunsets are second to none. Peaceful, quiet, relaxing. Though off the beaten path, it is only a short drive to multiple attractions in Owl's Head, Rockland, Camden. We've already scheduled our time for next fall. Delightful.
Opening onto Seal Harbor and Penobscot Bay beyond, this well maintained and fully equipped house is an ideal retreat, off the beaten path. Visitors have the choice of lazily spending the day watching the harbor's constant activity literally at your doorstep, whether it is lobstermen pulling their traps, the odd seal or kayaker paddling by, or an Outward Bound expedition dropping anchor before the crews spend the night sleeping atop their oars; or those same visitors can pick and choose among a wide range of more vigorous activities available in nearby Rockland, Rockport, Camden and numerous other villages and towns. While we have a growing list of favored restaurants within easy driving distance, we probably grill out in the backyard on half the days we are there. (A recently opened clam shack 100 or so yards away means this make vs. buy decision can be made right up at the last minute.). This coming summer will probably mark our sixth or seventh stay there.
A quiet cove dotted with lobster boats, birds and an occasional seal. This is an ideal place for a quiet get away. A fresh lobster roll is a two minute walk from the cottage. Everything you need for a comfortable week is provided. Easy drive to Rockland, Camden or Boothbay. The property is well maintained and Sheila is responsive. Enjoy the deck, enjoy the breeze and enjoy the view. We have already made our reservation for July 2014.
This was the most amazing location, great views out of every window! This cottage is very clean and comfortable with everything you will need during your stay and more. The deck is amazing!! I really did not want to leave and go out to dinner because the views do not get any better than right at the dining room table!! Cute lobster shack in walking distance for lunch, dinner or just desert. We also enjoyed Lobster Lane, the used book nearby as well. We are looking forward to going back this year!
This house is wonderful. The beautiful ocean view from every room to the most wonderful sunsets. This place is a piece of heaven even on a cloudy day. Great dining in Rockland and Camden. Great place just to relax and sit on the deck and read. We are looking forward to going back this year.
