Overview

About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 2-15

Trinity Trails Ranch is 24 acres of heaven, located in the heart of Texas. The ranch is nestled between the towns of Whitney and Hillsboro on Lake Aquilla just 45 minutes south of the Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex. There is about a mile of dirt roads on the property to explore and view the natural beauty of the woods and observe the wildlife. It’s peaceful, quiet, secluded, and the stars at night light up the sky. We hate to head back home every time we come to enjoy the ranch.

This custom designed ranch house we call a 'cabin' was built in 2014 and is nearly 1550 square feet arranged in a great open floor plan. It is situated on 6 of the acres in Trinity Trails, but you can explore the entire ranch and the 50 acres of Corp land next to the lake.

The master has a King, second bedroom has a queen, and the third has a set of twin beds. There is also built in queen and full beds in the loft. The couches will work in a pinch for lager groups but is not a sleeper.

Come enjoy the cabin, use a canoe on the lake, fishing off the shore, sitting around the fireplace on the porch, and making great memories with friends and family in a unique get away that won't be soon forgotten. The cabin is about 100 yards from the shoreline, canoe only 50 yards away with a caddy to make it easy to wheel them to the water.

The incredible fishing on Lake Aquilla is one of the best kept secrets in Texas. It's chalked full of bass, crappie, and channel catfish. And Trinity Trails Ranch is set right next to one of the prime fishing spots. And if water skiing, sailing, or scuba diving is more to your liking, Lake Whitney is just a few miles away and is considered one of the top two lakes in all of Texas.

The cabin is very well equipped. We have a 55' flat screen TV with a home theater system and a number of DVDs of various genres. A complete kitchen stocked with all the normal appliances, coffee pot, pots/pans, dishes and glasses, cooking utensils, and a gas grill on large patio means all you should need to bring is groceries.

And as with any place in the country there is a great variety of wildlife to be seen. There are deer, armadillos, wild turkey, the occasional snake, and all kinds of birds...hawks and even bald eagles have stopped by.

Note: Boats can be easily left just inside the front gate as there are so many trees, a couple dips, and turning around with a boat is difficult except at the pasture.

Canoe(s): Life jackets are provided and must be used at all times. Children must be accompanied by an adult when in the canoes.

Cedar Springs Cabin great for family reunion.

  • 5 of 5

We had a family reunion at Trinity Trails, using the Cedar Springs Cabin as the "headquarters cabin." The cabin had three big tables for eating--two inside and one outside. There was plenty of other types of seating, also. Nice-sized kitchen and big porch. There was also a friendly dog from next door, I believe, who adopted us for the weekend. We used this cabin and the Lone Star cabin, and the only "bad" thing about the property was the road between the cabins. It was rougher than I was expecting, but taken slowly, it presented no problems. Sitting at one of the tables one morning, we saw a doe and two fawns a few yards away. The trees around the cabin enabled us to sit and visit on the porch all day long, despite the June heat.

Great way to get away from it all!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a weekend getaway with extended family and this is exactly what we got with the Cedar Springs Cabin! Very clean, has all the needed amenities, and just a great way to relax. Nice quite and secluded spot in the woods about 150 yards or so from the Lake Acquilla. Great for cooking/bbq, we built a campfire, the kid enjoyed the see-saw and swing set, and they especially loved the upstairs loft, as it was their own little world up there. Just have to watch the younger kids though as the ladder is pretty steep.

Wasn't too hot, muggy and certainly not as many bugs & mosquitos as we figured there would be in the woods, so sitting on the front porch and out by the campfire was quite nice. The cabin is 1550 sq ft, but it was certainly big enough since the downstairs is very open and accommodating to our crew. Two eating areas, kitchen and family room all one big room, basically. Made it very easy and nice to visit with family.

Beds were comfortable. Upstairs loft beds also very comfortable. We did bring extra pillow just in case, but there were plenty of blankets, sheets for everyone. This cabin is about 10-15 minutes from the Lake Whitney Dam so it's pretty close to that lake as well.

We met the neighbors dog and the kids enjoyed playing with him/her? They kind of adopted that dog while we where there, so if you do see this oreo-looking dog, don't be alarmed, it's very friendly and loves to chase the football if you throw it.

Anyway, yeah just a relaxing weekend....just what we were looking for. If you want a lakefront property, this wouldn't be it. If you want peace & quiet and to get away from it all, this is definitely it.

Oh, the bbq grill works good. Plenty of hot water, too. We had a crew of 11 people and there was plenty room to sleep. Six adults and five young kids. If we had a bigger crew, we could have put two more people sleeping comfortably, one per each sofa downstairs in the family room. So plenty of room for a smaller to mid-size crew. Great intimate layout downstairs for gathering and visiting.

Was kind of hoping for a little rain so we could hear some rain on the metal roof and really feel like we're in the middle of nowhere, but instead the weather was perfect :)

We did not use the canoe, although there is a short trail, about 150-200 yards or so to the lake shore through the wood. Trail is fine for walking, no problem. Wheeling the canoe down to the shore "can" be done. A little steep, but doable I think.

Great secluded getaway.

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed our long weekend at the fantastic Cedar Springs Cabin. The ladder loft was perfect for the teenagers. It was a great place to come together for some fun and relaxation away from our hectic lives. Even my dog had a great time walking in the woods.

Great house on an awesome property

  • 5 of 5

It feels like you're in the middle of nowhere, but a decent-sized town is only about ten minutes away. The house is large enough for a big group (although the bathroom situation can become a bit tight..) and the outdoor area is great.

Great experience!

Everything was was clean and the house had everything we needed. The walk to the lake was a little far but it was a beautiful trail. We enjoyed our stay and would love to return.
