|Minimum Stay||30 nights|
This is an airy, bright cottage with two bedrooms and a large, handicapped-accessible bathroom. It has everything you need for stays of a few days, a few weeks or a few months. Each bedroom has a queen-sized bed and plenty of storage space. The open living/dining/kitchen area has room for lounging, socializing or working; access to high-speed internet and cable tv is a given. All bed linens, towels and kitchen-ware are included. There's a large, partially fenced-in front yard and a cozy patio outside the front door that's perfect for enjoying a morning cup of coffee or evening barbecuing. The cottage is in the tree-lined neighborhood of Lakewood Estates, which was built around the beautiful St. Petersburg Country Club. It's 10 minutes from downtown and 15 minutes from some of the area's best beaches. It offers the best of both worlds: a safe, quiet, family-oriented neighborhood in a convenient location close to everything from dog parks and playgrounds to shopping. Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is three blocks away.
I was born in Louisiana, grew up in Puerto Rico, went to high school in New Hampshire and attended college in Colorado. I did a stint in the Peace Corps in South Korea and traveled before going back to school to earn a master's degree in journalism. I worked as a reporter and editor for about 25 years. In 2011, I bought my first vacation rental in St. Petersburg, the Yellow Hibiscus House, and managed it from Vermont, where I spent 20 years, working and raising a family. I was finally able to move down to Florida in 2014. I'm having a wonderful time managing my properties and enjoying the many things this area has to offer.
Helen purchased this cottage in 2011
My husband and I along with our 2 dogs stayed at the cottage for one month as we were transitioning from Maine to St Petersburg, Florida. The cottage was extremely clean and met our needs very well. Helen was a pleasure to work with and the location was fantastic for our daily walks. It is just 10-15 minutes to some of the best beaches in Florida. Having laundry facilities was also a huge bonus! Both the cottage and the main house are excellent options for short or longer stays. When we have family come to visit us, we are hoping they can stay at one of Helen's properties.
My children and I rented the cottage for almost 2 months. We have relocated to St. Petersburg and needed a place to call home until we closed on the house we were purchasing. The main house on the property was rented and not available when we arrived, so we rented the cottage. It was perfect for us. It is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The décor is very beachy, very tastefully done in blues and creams. There is a large library of DVDs, puzzles, games for the kids. The front yard is fenced, which was perfect for our little dog. I could let her out without worry of her getting away.
The location could not have been more perfect. We were less than 10 minutes from the beaches, less than 10 minutes from downtown St Petersburg, walking distance to Boyd Hill park, minutes from the on ramp to I 275.
Helen is a wonderful host. She provided everything we could possibly need. From the moment we arrived, Helen made us feel welcome and let us know that she was there for us should we need anything at all. By the time we left, I felt we had known her for years! Thank you Helen for allowing us to stay in your cottage, and then the main house. We would not hesitate to stay there again and will happily recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay while in St. Pete.
My son and I have been staying at the Yellow Hibiscus Cottage for the month of November. We loved this home. It was the perfect fit. All fresh and new and very quiet. It had tv/internet and the home itself was more than adequate! We would definitely come back to this home and/or recommend it to our family & friends. It is just a few minutes drive to downtown St Petersburg, or 10 minutes to the beach in either Gulfport or St Pete. Helen is a great host, and offered great customer service. Thank you Helen.
I stayed in the cottage for three months. The cottage was clean and in new condition. Helen added a nice cape cod fence in the front so now there is an enclosed yard. The pictures don't show the fence yet. So now there is a fenced-in yard so that children and pets can play safely.
Had a great time staying in the cottage during the month of March.
Helen is a great and very accommodating host. The cottage is in a nice part of town that is nice and quiet with good access to all of St' Pete's amenities.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Two thumbs up!!!!
