The house is located across the road from the Jacks Fork River which is part of the Ozark National Scenic River ways park. The river, along with the nearby Current river is known for clear water for floating, tubing, small mouth bass fishing, swimming, etc. The nationally known cross country trail rides is located nearby - the house is great for viewing riders going to Alley Springs Park. The Park includes several well recognized springs including Alley Springs 6 miles away, Round Springs 13 miles away, Blue Springs 15 miles away, and Big Springs 30 miles away.
We spent ten days at the Eminence house, and it served our purposes really well. Our group of six from the Traverse Area Paddle Club drove south to find spring earlier than we have it at home. We brought kayaks and canoes, as well as hiking boots. The rental house was in good shape, and though two of the three bedrooms are not that large, we had plenty of room for our stuff in several locations.
I have rented VRBO homes in several other states, at all different times of the year, and this one rates near the top. It isn't fancy, but everything worked and was in good shape. We discovered that the A/C wasn't working the first afternoon we arrived, and phoned Richard that day. The repairman arrived the next morning, and since he needed a part, the problem was fixed a couple of days later. It cooled off at night (50's), and since we were out on rivers every day, it didn't matter how warm it got during the daytime. It turned out that we didn't need the A/C thereafter.
We particularly appreciated the washer and dryer, as well as the reliable wireless internet service. Also, the cookware, dishes, glassware and flatware were all in great shape, and there was lots of stuff. We have been places where they didn't even have as many forks as they had beds! There were also plenty of bath linens, which once again, weren't fancy, but served us well. In addition, for our group, it was important that we had easy access to the outside hose, since we wanted to rinse our river shoes every day. There was a clothes line that was protected from rain if necessary. We actually paddled eight different days, in gorgeous conditions. Took one day off to hike to a series of waterfalls and springs.
We will definitely be back. We have stayed at other cabins in the Eminence area, and this one is less expensive and better equipped than those places. We are so glad we found it!
I used this as a long term rental (5 months) while I completed my move from Chicago to Eminence. The location is great! Close to everything! The house is very comfortable. Wifi and cable were reliable which was a concern for me since the area is rural. Great place to stay!
