About John and Millie Holahan

I operate a new home building and renovation company. Millie and I purchased this home, then completely remodeled and decorated it for friends and family to use while visiting. After we had inquiries from friends of friends, we decided to open the rental to folks who enjoy a cozy, relaxing getaway that is conveniently located to most of what the Poconos have to offer.

John and Millie Holahan purchased this house in 2006

Why John and Millie Holahan chose Poconos

We chose this property because we live nearby and know the beauty and amenities this area has to offer. With close proximity to both the NYC and Philadelphia areas, the drive is under 2 hours.

There are numerous activities if you are looking for some adventure; whitewater rafting, hiking, biking, skiing, fishing, leisurely walks, fall foliage, star gazing and much, much more.

Copy and paste this link,, to see what the Poconos has to offer.

What makes this house unique

The property is located 9 miles from new Kalahari Resorts indoor water park. This water park is being promoted that it will be among the largest water parks in North America. Grand opening is scheduled for Spring of 2015.

In addition, Camelback Ski area is also opening a large indoor water park Spring of 2015. Located just 25 minutes from the property, this adventure park will have many activities from which to choose.

For those who want to enjoy outdoor activities, there a several ski mountains, golf courses, a rails-to-trails bike path along the Lehigh River, white water rafting, the Hickory Run State park and so much more.

This property is adjacent to the Thomas Darling Preserve at Two Mile Run. "Emerging from underground springs and seeps, Two-Mile Run feeds into Tobyhanna Creek, and eventually feeds the Lehigh River. Along the way, it traverses the 2,500-acre Thomas Darling Preserve at Two-Mile Run, a place where visitors can witness an extensive mosaic of glacial wetlands via a two mile trail and boardwalk system."

Usually, access can be difficult because of the general public's access is several miles away. However, being in this private area affords easy access just 100 yards away.

Absolutely the best. The house was perfect and John was quick to respond with all questions.

I can't even begin to explain. I was so nervous renting a house vs a hotel, but John was so great. I took my daughter and 2 friends here for a weekend of tubing and snowboarding for her 18th birthday. The house is perfect, 4 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, 2 bathrooms..perfect so the girls were alone upstairs and I was downstairs. We had a great weekend, the house is beautifully decorated and at home personal touches as well as fully stocked! How nice to arrive and find breakfast items for the next morning! Saturday I received a txt from John about severe winter weather for Sunday and allowed for late check out or even stay an extra night! We ended up leaving later on Sunday, but thank you for the offer!

Owner's Response: Cindy, Thank you for the wonderful review. I was pleased to hear everyone had a great time on the slopes; Saturday was certainly a perfect day for playing in the snow. I also want to let you know how much we appreciated the condition you left the house; you made our task so much easier. As for the decor, my wife takes pride in how she has staged the house. We want our guests to be warm, cozy and comfortable during their stay. Best Wishes, John, Millie and Donna

Owner's Response: Thank you for very much for the review and the suggestion about some of mattresses; it may be about time we replaced several of them. I appreciate the feedback; without that, we wouldn't know what we must do to keep this home not just a good place to stay, we want it to be an excellent pace to stay. Best regards, John, Millie and Donna

Beautiful cozy home

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I just stayed here this past weekend, over MLK. I can't get over how nice the home was. We had plenty of room for all of us with the upstairs and downstairs accommodating everyone. We came from many different places, and had lots of cars, but the property was able to hold all of us. John the owner was available while we stayed. We arrived on friday night and he provided us with some eggs and pancake mix for the next morning. I can't say enough of how wonderful the owners were, or how lovely the home was, but we had an excellent stay and I would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the poconos. We were about 10 minutes from Big Boulder. We look forward to staying here again sometime.

Relaxing, enjoyable getaway

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. The property was private and the house was cozy. We had plenty of room for our party of 8 along with a few visitors who didn't stay over. The owner was away, but there was someone available to assist us. She was very helpful and nice. We recommend this property if you're looking for a comfortable, carefree, peaceful getaway with family and/or friends.

I wish I can live here!!!

  • 5 of 5

I was here about a year ago along with 6 others we all love your home. I don't know if you remember us, but we were all our early 20's lol Even though it rained throughout our stay we still had fun staying in. It sure was quiet, clean, cozy and comfortable..if your look for a place to stay and to feel right at home this is the home to rent it has everything you can think of from washing machine to the dishwashing machine.. Blender a oven anything you can think of this house as it in there it's so nice and clean and well furnished. I wish I can live here lol. The owners were nice as well anything you need their there to help, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't need anything because this house is simply the best. Thank you again John

Fabulous stay - warm and welcoming!

  • 5 of 5

What a fabulous trip! After staying at an old, overpriced resort a few years back, we rented John and Millie's smaller home last year. Knowing how nice and affordable that house was and how easy and pleasant John was to work with, we did not hesitate to contact him again for his larger home since our party size grew. LOCATION: We travel from southern NJ so this is very easy to get to off of 476, and house is off of a main road for easy access. It is minutes away from Jack Frost and Big Boulder, right down road from restaurants and food market. We even ventured a little further and shopped at a Super Walmart for some items. At John's suggestion, we took the pleasant and simple 30 minute drive to historic Jim Thorpe for the afternoon and loved the charm there. HOUSE: Charming, very nicely decorated, super clean and very spacious. 1st floor had bathroom, laundry room, bedroom with 2 twins and very spacious living room area with plenty of comfortable seating, beautiful fireplace, and bar. Closet even had some games the kids loved (it was nice to see them off of electronics for a bit!). 2nd floor had another comfortable living room with fireplace, full kitchen (toaster, coffee pot, pans, dishes, utensils galore), large dining table, 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. We had a large party and never were crowded for space. Besides the food items we purchased, we did not need for anything else. OWNERS: This is 2nd year we rented from them and they are very responsive and welcoming. The house was ready for us when we arrived, heated and even had a candle glowing. Complimentary breakfast items are waiting on the kitchen counter. Even though they live very close by, they give you privacy but will kindly check in to make sure all is well and let you know to reach out if you need anything. The security deposits were credited immediately. Thank you, John and Millie...despite the frigid temps, we made the absolute best of our stay and look forward to next year!

Owner's Response: Wow, what a review! Of course it is our intent to meet, or even exceed, the expectations of our guests, but to do it for a returning guest is an honor. Millie, Donna and I are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for leaving the home in such great conditions; of course we welcome you back on your next visit to the POCONOS.
