Luxury house with wonderful view

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house!! The view is fantastic, you can see the ski slopes and the bear mountain, it is breathtaking!!The house was big and clean and maintained extremely well. We were very impressed by the owner, he was always responding to our emails and phone calls quickly. the owner was very nice and easy to work with. one other thing the pictures that you see in their ad are just what you get when you arrive -- everything is real and accurate. I highly recommend it!!

AMAZING view from the deck with SPA!

  • 5 of 5

We like to bring our families and friends up to Big Bear Lake and enjoy this wonderful area in holiday season. We've stayed in cabins, condos and other vacation rentals, and this property by far was the very best!

We had 8 adults and 4 children. The place was close to ski area and K-mart shopping area. We loved the location, and convenience with everything we need. A spa located on a large deck with mountain view. The owners are really nice people and cared a great deal about our stay. It was stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, dishes, bbq- all that you would need for a great stay. Those items are in good brand name, not the cheap ones which we used in other cabins of big bear area. Even the flatware are the 18/10 stainless steel in premium quality as well.

Everything is as you see in the pictures, an idyllic location and a spacious, clean, well decorated home with just the right feel for Big Bear. Many places we have stayed we came away wishing for more, especially in terms of kitchen provisions but here you get it all.

FAST response to ANY questions before during and after, clean well kept beautiful home, BBQ, Spa, Pool table and Games space with a mountain view!

We plan on going again next year.

Completely dissatisfied! Many inconveniences throughout stay.

  • 2 of 5

Although a fantastic cabin with spacious rooms and ideal location, the inconveniences throughout my weekend stay here left me extremely disappointed. Did not meet expectations.

- Upon our arrival, there was a bike lock attached to the front gate. Owner never provided the combination, and we were left stranded outside the gate for over an hour. We contacted the owner finally after climbing over the gate, opening the front door, and obtaining his contact phone number.

- The air conditioning did not work upon arrival. The thermostat's battery ended up being dead, so we had to replace the batteries.

- The fridge was BROKEN!!! Being Labor Day weekend, we came prepared with BBQ meats, veggies, drinks, etc. The fridge was on, but working at a temperature that barely chilled anything!! We called the owner and he said he would send someone to work on fridge the next day, but no one ever came! By that time, we bought tons of ice, had to place all our perishables in coolers, and still much of our food were ruined.

- Our group of 10 expected to utilize all his available bedding provided, including the air mattresses. However, both air mattresses were unuseable. One had a hole that was messily duct taped, and the other resembled a balloon much less a mattress when blown up. Three persons were left to sleep on the floor. Not to mention the additional blankets were absolutely unclean with a disgusting smell.

The cabin had amazing views, and the hot tub worked very well. Cabin was fairly clean, but there were cobwebs attached to pool table.

Although the owners were extremely prompt in responding when I booked the cabin, once I emailed them my complaints and desire for full damage deposit and additional expenses caused, I have yet to receive a response. It's been 8 days.

My family has used VRBO several times in varying locations and have always enjoyed our stays. NOT THIS TIME!

1) The barbecue was unsafe and unusable. The wood deck beneath it was covered with grease that had leaked out through a visible hole in the bottom. The inside of the barbecue was filthy and rusted out. We told the owners immediately, but they never did anything about it. We had booked the cabin for ten days, so it was a huge disappointment that we were unable to barbecue the whole time we were there.

2) There are two long decks with a great view. The top deck has a table with six chairs around it, but no umbrella to provide shade. As we were there in the summer, it was unusable during the daytime. The lower deck, which provided shade, had one TOTALLY BROKEN chair. That is all.

3) The coffee pot did not work. We told the owners and they did bring one (three days later) — a 4 cup Mr. Coffee for a house that sleeps ten. They did not supply any filters.

4) The air hockey table was tilted, had puncture holes, and deep scratches. When switched on, there was minimal air flow through the holes. It is a piece of junk sitting in the primary seating area of the cabin.

5) The house comes with two jacuzzi tubs, but neither drain plug worked so they were unusable. By the time we figured this out, it seemed pointless to contact the owners as they had not responded to our concerns about the barbecue and we were still waiting for a coffee pot.

6) The blinds on the sliding doors in two of the three bedrooms were broken; they could not be raised. We did report this to the owner and were told someone would come out to look at them. No one ever came. This meant 1) minimal view from the bedrooms and 2) we could not sleep with the door open because the wind banging the broken blinds made too much noise.

7) The carpets were absolutely filthy.

8) The silverware was minimal (one could not set a table for ten) and seemed like it had all been collected from yard sales.

9) Sheets in the master bedroom were torn.

10) From what I could tell, neither the A/C nor the ice maker in the fridge worked. Again, felt pointless to contact the owners.

We ended up leaving after seven nights instead of staying for the full ten.

The hot tub worked well and the view is great. It is a shame that the owners have chosen to neglect what could be a lovely cabin.

Awesome view, great place to host a group/family

  • 5 of 5

Exactly as advertised, the place had an amazing view and was a great space to host my (small) family reunion. It can sleep 10, as there are a few air mattresses, but there isn't really space in the bedrooms to put those air mattresses so a few people put them in the common areas and others shared the real beds to accommodate the 10 people we had. But that was our only complaint, the place was stocked with all the kitchen essentials and everything else we would expect to find. Perfect place for the price, many of the comparable cabins were $100+ more per night.

Very happy with our vist

  • 4 of 5

It's a nice place in a very quite area of big bear.Only minutes to shopping and restaurants. Had our moms 90 1/2 birthday with 8 of us there .nice family room up stairs .TV ,Pooltable .and kitchen.nice bedrooms .never got to use the hot tub ,just so much to do ,never found the time.Stayed in Palm SPrings and paid $100 MORE per night for a place not nearly as nice as our big bear stay. All I can say is 16 thumbs up.
