Toyroom was a pleasent suprise

  • 5 of 5

Family of 4 stayed for 5 days. Great location, beautifully updated. The relatively smaller size of the unit is perfectly offset by the smart furnitures and the two spacious balconies with side ocean view.

The toyroom was a very pleasant surprise. Bikes, beach toys, anything you need for a great vacation. Highly recommended. We are planning to return next year.

Overall - Fantastic! Location, balconies, space, and have to mention the toys

  • 5 of 5

Glad we chose to go VRBO and this location for our adventure to Catalina Island.

Marty's place is right in town with balconies which is perfect for relaxing and people watching. We mostly ate in with no problems as the grocery stores were nearby and the kitchen more than stocked with the right equipment. We had thought about taking a tour but decided against it as Marty's "toys" became our focus - bikes for riding, kayaks for exploring the harbor, and chairs for hanging out on the beach. We never got to trying the paddle boards!

4 of us - 2 adults and 2 teenagers (17 & 18) had plenty of room with a full bed and two conversion couches. Two full bathrooms too!

Communication with Marty was fantastic throughout - from the beginning inquiry to after we left.

If we ever get back to Catalina Island, this location will be our first choice.

First Time to Catalina

  • 4 of 5

The rental itself is amazing! Loved having the 2nd and 3rd stories as our living quarters. All new appliances, two bathrooms and plenty of room for my husband and I and our two children to enjoy the rental. It was clean and comfortable. We loved having the bikes, paddle boards, and kayaks. The location to the center of town and the grocery stores was perfect. What I didn't realize is that it had no AC and only one fan and it was hot while we were there. But, because the living quarters were on the 2nd and 3rd stories, we could open the patio doors and windows and get a breeze going through. I also didn't realize that this rental is on the very first road that people drive on when they first arrive in Catalina. So, because we had the doors and windows open, it was loud from the vehicles and golf carts. We still made the best of it and had a great time! We swam in the ocean everyday, the kids zip-lined, we rented a golf cart and did the loop around Avalon that took us to the high places that we didn't want to walk to, we had $1 tacos at the Sandtrap, we visited the Wrigley Botanical Gardens and Descanso Beach, snorkeled in Lover's Cove, took a sunset sail, shopped, went to a movie in the historic Casino (Tuesday night is $8 night), watched the sunrise and the sunset. It was a great vacation!

The Yellow House was perfect for our first time visit to Catalina Island!

  • 5 of 5

First time visiting Catalina Island and we fell in love with this place! It's walking distance from EVERYTHING; restaurants, beach, Catalina Express, grocery stores. It's a short 5 minute walk from the Catalina Express. I couldn't believe how close it is to the beach! I feel like the pictures don't quite do this place justice. The place was exceptionally clean and the views from the two balconies are amazing! The kitchen came with everything you needed, we took full advantage of it and loved it! Which reminds me, make sure you push slightly harder than usual to close the refrigerator doors, there was a couple times where we thought we closed it and heard a beeping sound. I quickly discovered that the beeping sound was the refrigerator alerting us that the door hadn't been closed all the way.

My girlfriend and I had been looking at a few other places that also looked nice but we are extremely happy we chose this place. Marty was a pleasure to deal with, he was extremely helpful and provided more than enough information for our stay, not only about the place, but also info and tips about the town in general. He was quick to respond via text with any questions I had, thanks again, Marty.

We've already decided we not only want to come back to Catalina, but also want to stay here at the Yellow House again! :)

Oh and if you're a coffee lover, the corner cafe has a delightful coconut latte.

Great location, super clean and well kept, loved the house.

  • 5 of 5

The house was very easy to get to, short 5 minute walk from the boats. We arrived very early but had no problem with our luggage because the house has a lock up where you can leave your stuff if arriving too early for chek in or leaving later in the day for check out (which we did). When we walked in the house was super clean. The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed. The balconies were very nice and offered a good view of the water. And the Toy room, wow! The toy room was stocked with 2 kayaks 2 paddle boards bikes chairs so many goodies. We come to the island every summer and this house is my favorite so far. It was just my husband and I this time. The house offered one queen bed and 2 small sofa beds. I would not try to fit more than 4 people in the home. Maybe 5 with kids if they are small but I would say 4 adults max.

Included with the rental is two single man Kayaks, 4 bikes and two stand up paddleboards. You have to carry them to the beach which is less than a block. You have to be responsible to know how to use them, I am not offering any instruction. There are life vests but no helmets. Nice new stuff, and also includes beach chairs and an umbrella, two sets of golf clubs.

This property is located on the first block in Avalon, you can walk anywhere. The 4th of July parade goes right in front of the place. There are two nice decks with views of the harbor and the ocean and look directly across to the Wrigley Mansion. City lights at night and a short walk to your favorite Bars and Restaurants. This place was recently totally remodeled and has not been rented until now. We are right next door to the Catalina Island Conservancy so very convenient for tours.
