Beautiful authentic and cozy family chalet in Meribel, one of the first one built in the 60s by the architect of Meribel (Mr Durupt). Stunning panoramic view on the Vallon and the valley (center of station). Located in a very quiet area right on the ski slopes. A 10 min walk to the lively Meribel center and a 2 min ski to La Chaudanne, where you have a large choice of ski lifts to access to the other Vallées. You couldn't be in a better location!
There are 4 bedroom sleeps up to 12 people and 2 bathrooms + 1 WC. There is 1 bedroom with double bed, 1 with 2 single bed, 1 with 1 single bed and 1 bedroom with 4 single beds. There are 2 sofas next to the fire place which can be used for sleeping and one on the mezzanine.
The Chalet Angelus was warm, comfortable, quite, with amazing views. The chalet was one of the original chalets built in Meribel, it has character but it is tired and needs upgrading. It can sleep 12, I would not want to stay with 12 but it would be excellent value if you have lots of kids. Ideally 7 adults or 4 adults with 5 children would work well. It has nice double, a single, a funny twin room and a 4 bedded bunk room. The hot water worked well and the shower and baths were good but tired. The kitchen is functional, no oven but a microwave, hob, big fridge and dishwasher. A downside for us was the amount of tut around the chalet belonging to probably very elderly owners but some may say it was charming. Obviously a much loved family chalet.
To access the chalet with you bags you need to walk across the piste by the Helios Hotel and negotiate some steps, which can be icy so not suitable for those infirm or unfit. A good walk to the shops and taking out the rubbish bags is a 400m round trip, (but do it when you go out to the shop also you can get groceries delivered) We did not find this a problem, the up side being it is virtually ski in, ski out.
Communication with the owner was excellent.
In summary, this is a good value, comfortable but basic chalet with great views and easy access to skiing. If you want luxury and all mod cons and easy access on foot this is not for you.
Would I book this chalet again? Yes.
Belle semaine dans un chalet plein de charme à la vue magnifique, où chacun a son espace. On y ressent une longue histoire de famille qui fait que l'on se sent très vite chez soi. Nous y reviendrons sûrement. JJ
Good choice if you like skiing. Located in a quiet place among trees with spectacular views of the mountains. Next to the slopes and near the center of Meribel (the best place to enjoy the whole ski area of 3 Vallees).
A genuine chalet where you will feel at home. Comfortable and well equipped.
Monica, the owner, was very helpful about everything.
The Chalet is ideally located, you can't get much better! Moments away from the beautiful and charming town center, where you will find a number of local shops, restaurants and pubs. For those who enjoy skiing, you have a number of ski lifts located a 3 min ski ride from the Chalet. Where you also have all the different RDV points for the ski schools and the HQ of the ESF (french ski school).
