This Charming Cape Cod cottage, built in 1898, reminds one of a bygone era of lakeside living, but the amenities of modern living. The home has 4 bedrooms ( all up stairs) and 2 1/2 bathrooms - 1 full bath down stairs.
Canandaigua lake was the home of the Seneca Tribe and the Indian name means ' Chosen Place'. This lake was formed by the glacier age and the results are crystal clear water and pebbled base. In the Summer the water often gets as warm as 76 degrees!
Innumerable activities are found in the surrounding area: the Canandaigua Performing Arts Center, Bristol Valley theater, Finger Lakes Race Track and Casino, Sonnenberg Gardens, Rose Land Water Park and numerous Finger Lakes tasting vineyards and antique stores. The region boasts many world class golf courses and the cottage is only minutes away from the famous Wegman's home and grocery store, referred by some as the 'Mecca' of food emporiums. During the winter season Bristol Mountain offers both day and evening skiing. The proximity to Rochester which is less than an hour away, offers sites such as the Rochester Philharmonic, George Eastman House and Stong Museum, as well as the minor league baseball team, the Red Wings
I fell in love with this lake 20 years ago. Originally from Florida - being able to swim
day or night without the fear of sharks or alligators is very freeing ! Every time I
am on this lake I feel relaxed and playful !
Richard Stewart purchased this cottage in 2012
We had a new house on the other side of the lake but after years of
researching properties on this lake ( the best lake out of all the finger lakes in my opinion) we found this house, which is historical and located in a very friendly neighborhood and close to all the shopping and downtown Canandaigua. It is the perfect combination of all the things we were searching to own.
This house is lake level and on a deep water cove great for a boat to have easy access to the dock. The porch is where you will spend most of your time when you are not in the water having the time of your life. But if it does get cool in the evening
the wood stove makes the warmest living room to enjoy while eating dinner or watching a movie or playing games with your family and friends.
just 3 miles from downtown Canandaigua
and 55 minutes from Rochesster
